    I found your channel when I was looking for Borracay review. I liked the detail comparison video like Borracay vs Bali vs Lombok. But end up found out there is an affordable option to visit Maldives. I immediately booked for my family of 4 and had an amazing time in Maldives with a budget just about same with a trip to Bali (from Vietnam). And your video is filmed beautifully which I know now is such a hard work because of the hustle underwater. So keep up the good work! truly inspiring.

    You can go across Dhigurah sandbank only when water level is very low (very low tide). Most of the time you can't go across. Saying from experience.

    You can find cheap resorts there aswell, been there twice, both times did I stay on resorts. First time was in dec 2018 and I paid 125 $ per night for a full board beach bungalow (was alone but the price was for 2 adults and 1 kid) on a 5 star resort (North male atoll). The second time was in dec 2021 and they wanted to get back the tourists after covid and I found a beach bungalow with all inclusive for the insane price of 95 $ a night (same I was alone but the price was for 2 adults and 2 kids) for a 4 star resort (Addu Atoll). The price increased in 2022 when i was going back (around 170 is for a full board for 2+2) so i went to Thailand instead (traveling for scuba diving), loved the country and now I´m planing to backpack around Thailand for 2 month this spring, inspired by you two.
    One thing you should add about Maldives is that its a strict muslim country, so alcohol is illegal (except on resorts and you cant even bring it into the country) and if you arent staying on a resort then its illigal to wear a bikini on an public beach (resort and some island have beaches for tourist and there you can wear em).
    But great video that shows that maldives can be cheap aswell. People usually get scared to even look up maldives as a destination since they think they are all +500 $ resorts. Yes 90% of them are but there are cheap resorts aswell, there are budget hotels and there are insanely cheap bed and breakfast aswell.

    • @Joelfriend
      @Joelfriend  11 месяцев назад +1

      This is great to know! Thank you, yes I have 2 more upcoming videos on the Maldives to share more information about local islands! That’s some great deals I think it has got slightly more expensive but around $300 you can still get private island resorts I think

    • @effe81
      @effe81 11 месяцев назад

      I looked last dec and found bungalows with a full board for 160 dollar/night, made a new look now and found a half board for 180 dollar so you still cant find rooms for less then 200. But guesthouses are so much cheaper and more worth it. But yeah you can find resorts that are cheaper then a hotel in central london (if you add the food cost in london). But then you need to take into account that overpriced activities on the resorts (with the all inclusive I atleast got free water sports and one cruise for free). But otherwise its 100-300 dollars/person
      But anyway but great that you show that Maldiwes can be "cheap" and a great backpacker destination, also alot of cheap flights to male (and addu) from around south east asia. @@Joelfriend

    Sogod bay in Philippines (Southern Leyte) is an amazing place to swim with whales sharks in their natural environment. Ive been twice, you used to be able to take a scuba tank now I think thats banned. They are very well protected and looked after in that part of the world.

I also read that there is a lot of rubbish in the sea, this is also true. It seems like an enchanting island to me. Can you give me advice on boat transfers from the airport and back? Come and visit oslob,cebu..get a close encounter with whale sharks...awesome experience...

    • @Joelfriend
      @Joelfriend  11 месяцев назад

      The reason we avoided Oslob, is that due to feeding the whale sharks it effects the whale sharks migration which can lead the whale sharks to not reproduce with other whale sharks potentially make them less likely to survive. They also stay in an unhealthy upright position which is not good for them. By visiting other places such as Donsol or Leyte, it’s a more natural way of seeing them :)

  • @antonboludo8886
    @antonboludo8886 7 месяцев назад

    Nice video.
    At least you have your own drones for the areal views.
    Are the prices you are quoting for the both of you, or for each person? This is an important distinction.
    That is not a double bed. It is at least an Emperor Size one, LOL.
    Taxes should not apply to tourists. Only locals pay taxes in order to finance their own country.
    Bioluminescence is amazing to see. I have seen it in the Galapagos Islands.
    Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world. They are actually quite docile.
    Hot sand can burn your feet, though. It depends on the type of sand anf where you are in the world.
    Well done.
    Cheers!

    Hi! How you get to the island? by yourself( just leaving the airport and boarded a boat) or booked a seat through the guest house? I understand that the price of the boat is different. From 35 to 65 $? We don’t want to pay extra for hotel and go with the same boat or it’s risky not to book in advance? We plan to go to this island in 4 days
