Among the lot of composers especially Pjotr Tschaikovsky was one of Sviatoslav Richter´s favourites. In this way this Grand Sonata was his own - combining the Russian-European pathos and melancholy, in which his piano playing was living from the first to the last tone.
All these pieces are masterly interpreted, that is for sure, but the highlight of the concert is probably the great sonata of Tchaikovski in G major, which we have so few opportunities to hear in concert. We have here an awesome rendition.
The Tchaikovski Sonata is so rarely performed. But what a great composition.
And so great performance..!brilliant interpretation ~~
Richter is an embodiment of human intellectual evolution..~
