- Thank you so much for doing life with us through all these years. We appreciate each and every one of you tremendously.
As I’m sure most of you are aware, we have been seeking the best path forward through the shifting circumstances that this past year has presented us, and with some time off this Holiday season to process and reflect on what that best path is, we have arrived at the very difficult decision to discontinue the So Far, So Good podcast and slow down on our usual content in general on this channel. This decision was not made lightly, but it has become the clear step forward for our family.
Specifically, I (Gabriel) am feeling I need to make content creation less of a priority after a decade with it being my job. I need to make my family a greater focus in this next season, find balance and margin, and then explore where else I can push myself creatively.

i agree.. It’s not Jess’ burnout, it’s Gabe’s. She’s been held back multiple times now from Gabe’s lack of interest in content making. They both would do well if they stop pursuing their career together and they both can get what they want.

I feel like Gabe would thrive in a career that gives him structure and routine. I know how being your own boss is hyped everywhere, but what about an editing job in a company? something like a 9-5, maybe even remote just to have that stability.
Guys I love you both and I have since 2017, I’m sure 100% that Gabe is an amazing husband, father, friend and I support him through all the mental and emotional things he’s been through, but I feel like this might be a sign to let Jess carry out the content, every time there’s a change on their content is mostly because of Gabe, whenever he’s needed time or wanted to try another type of content/career, again I support it, but honestly Jess has so so much potential, she knows how to listen to her public and that’s why everything she does becomes very successful, no hate, not saying she’s better, but she has a special touch for her ideas and she definitely needs to let her spark shine to its fullest on her own (no guys, this won’t have to do anything with their marriage it’s social media, grow up) I feel she’s been held back for being in this shared plataform

i support Jess in continuing the podcast! It’s been her passion and she’s been asking to do it for so long and she finally got it and i don’t want this to hold her back. I feel like Gabe needs to break away from the internet all together so that he stops holding Jess back and he can solely focus on his mental health and career passions.

Holding Jess back? From someone that knows nothing about them or what she thinks personally… why try to place yourself in her shoes just to say some ugly ass shit? God forbid a man has any issues it’s not easy to address because they’ll then just use it against him. They built something amazing online together and it’s a damn shame some of you woman on her make it about sides or holding someone back.
Jess - don’t forget about you. As a long time viewer it seems that you sometimes dim your own light so Gabe and equally shine. You have more followers and such because we love you, and can relate to you so much. Consider doing a podcast by yourself!! Light YOUR light shine, as bright as it’s meant to be.

Worth losing a few if it gets you ugly personalities out. Imagine making sides and accusing one of dimming the others light, why can’t you guys look for solutions instead of asking for problems… oh yeah you guys don’t know the full story yet you have enough to make this statement. Sick mentality this is because he also sacrificed a lot for her and his family that he now has, can’t blame a guy for trying and you can’t expect him to always meet the expectations of those that only want problems and making sides. They both need strength through the hard times just like a lot of families right now.

I’m probably going to get so much crap for this but not gonna lie this was hard to watch. Something about it rubbed me the wrong way. Most people don’t get the luxury to only do what inspires them and when they feel inspired. Most people have to go to a full time job, away from their kids, that doesn’t inspire them, just to pay the bills and feed their families. My husband works full time, plus part time, plus is in school full time and gets to see our son for a few hours each day before bedtime, and we don’t live in some big house in a huge city. His inspiration is that he wants to make sure we can pay our mortgage and feed our son and have a good future, he gets next to no time for things that are inspiring to him or fun or creativity fulfilling. To me this came off…I don’t know the words, out of touch maybe .
Although I’ve been a viewer since the engagement video and saw you guys on tour, bought merch, etc, I’m not upset with you guys that videos are ending, you don’t owe us anything, but I just feel so bad for Jess. It must be super stressful to have to be the breadwinner/rock for the family all the time, and she’s went through so much with moving across the world, and her residency and citizenship struggles, and doesn’t get to see her family much and i can only imagine it gets stressful or frustrating seeing him start and stop new projects all the time. (Music, acting, conteam clothing, new earth, grace coffee, his first podcast, this podcast, a ton of rebrands on RUclips,etc) And she’s made it clear she’s been asking him to do a podcast with her for years and he went and did one with his friends instead, which also didn’t last long, and now she finally got to do it and he quits a couple months in because he doesn’t feel “inspired”. I don’t know, it all sounds very selfish to me and out of touch. How many times has he started and stopped projects, it’s almost just unreliable at this point. And most of the “we’s” really just sounded like “me’s”. My hearts breaking for Jess, and I hope he figures out what he truly really wants to do for the long term and gets some appreciation that he’s incredibly blessed to be in the position he’s in. Trust me I was hospitalized for depression, so I get it, it’s really hard to be in a rut all the time. I don’t know, this just made me frustrated for Jess. Okay, let the nasty replies begin.
I totally get what you’re saying. I said to my husband while we’re watching this that does Gabe think he’ll be inspired or not get burned out if he worked a 9-5 ? Influencers are privileged with (freedom) whether they admit it or not. They keep saying that we dont know how hard it is to be an influencer and that they need to be inspired all the time to continue working but guess what? We go to our normal jobs uninspired and work our asses off to provide for our families the life that we deserve. I’m a person that thrives on being inspired and motivated and since my work doesn’t allow it I dont quit my job but do other things on the side that inspire including being a parent
You said everything so perfectly and how I was feeling and thinking. Wow. I agree 100%. You said so many points that I agreed on but I will point out one in particular that I do heavily saw.. the “ we” but it was really “ me’s” it’s definitely how Gabe feels over the situation. Jess seems inspired and consistent so yeah I felt super bad for her. She kind of has to follow along even though she maybe still has that excitement for the podcast. Plus he did all the talking here and she filled in so that means it’s how HE really feels. Sucks but life’s hard like that for everybody. I hope Jess can do what she wants and hope Gabe gets better
I was just thinking that watching the video, imagine if all of us just quit our fulltime jobs every time we felt uninspired.
For someone who says they were hospitalized / treated for depression you sure don't have any empathy. Everything he has said, everything he has tried to verbalize SCREAMS depression. He is doing the best he can and you basically told him because he lives in a big house and has options you don't he should suck it up. Your self absorbed statement comments were a pity party for yourself.. Time to go back to therapy I think.

really unpopular opinion - but I think Jess dim's her own shine for Gabriel
Not unpopular. it's so obvious and he is very jealous of her, watch the podcast where he talks about how she has more followers on instagram cause "she's a girl. No, it's cause she makes her own videos and people like watching her content. It's obvious in every sentence he says how much her success makes him feel worse about himself. I feel so bad for her honestly.
She’s honestly such a star, she’s always saying she’s not that good or whenever she gets recognition she says Gabe is much more creative etc than her, which is only part of her very humble soul but I think it’s time for her to reach full potential, whenever they take a break or change something it’s because of Gabriel, not to say he’s bad for her or a bad husband, they love each other so much and he’s the head of the home, but it shouldn’t stop her from taking the lead on the content from now on which I think would be very good

But also i want to reiterate that while this may be a glimpse into the relationship dynamic as well we do not know that and do not have the right to judge what we don’t know / see! He said at the end that he’s happy that him stepping back means that it frees up her time to do her own thing with her ideas. I know it’s the internet and they’ve been in the spotlight for so long so it’s very easy to think we know their relationship, but it’s just perception. Here’s hoping for a Jess podcast in the near future 🩷
I hope to see more Jess content, no offense to the group channel and family content, but I've missed Jess's personal channel over the years so much. I'd love to see more content focused just on what she's doing, her music, girl chats, etc.

This totally makes sense for you guys. I have sensed for the past few years that Gabe would probably thrive in a career that is not a social media influencer/creator type as he continues to mature. Sometimes it’s also nice to work FOR someone and not feel beholden to managing a persona. I’m sure financially it is difficult to make a decision like this, but your relationship and your mental health matters more!! Wish you guys the best.
Such a good point about working for someone! It feels so wrong after being your own boss because you know you're capable and it's so empowering to have the freedom but it comes with plenty of it's own downsides such as this. I definitely think working for someone else shouldn't be ruled out when feeling this way!

I really pray and hope that Gabe heals from his depression and anxiety. I hope this career change helps him feel happy and fulfilled. He has hinted for years that his depression has been taking over and it’s time he got a control of it and got his life back. ❤️ you get burned out and social media drains you. Please don’t feel like you’ve let anyone down. The legacy that you have lead and the inspiration you have provided for so many families to make a living out of sharing their lives is something to be proud of. The Lord blessed you mightly and now Makaiah and your future children will be amazed to look back and watch your grow together! Inspiration will strike and you will bring the creativity out of the new generation to carry on your legacy. Whether they are rocket scientists or launching toy rockets in challenge videos!
Gab, you are so gifting in film making! I got back to “I like me better” video from time to time because it is so amazing & gifts me chills every time! You’ve been making content since you were young and you blew up fairly quickly, so you’re used to being so fast pace. I think it also has to do with the season that affects Gabe. We support you guys in whatever you both decide. Jess should do a solo podcast if it still speaks to her about girly and young mom content.

He’s been doing this quite often like this burnout feeling and depression where they make a video on how they need a break. Gabe has battled a lot with this emotion. You should go back to their videos and watch those videos I’m talking about. If you just search up their name and then “depression “you’ll definitely find it.

It feels nice to see so many people agree with my inner thoughts about them. They are amazing together, but they are also really great apart. Gabe is so amazing at editing & that “I like me better” video is the reason I found that song and still love it so much! Jess would thrive doing projects that focus more on her female supporters because we can all relate and it’s not to take away from Gabe, but to showcase that she has her strengths and he has his as well. I’ve always thought Gabe should try to work for a production company cause his vision is mind blowing, so I hope he can find something he actually enjoys apart from trying to stick to social media only. It may even be interesting to us to hear about his work day and how he could integrate his learnings from work into their channel. 🤷🏻♀️ Regardless, best wishes to you both!
My heart BREAKS for Jess :( she seems to be sacrificing so much for Gabe because he can’t commit to something that is one of HER passions that she asked to do with him for years, and now she has to give this up for him. So sad. I wish Jess would continue the podcast, we would all still listen!!! 😭🥺🧡 seems that Jess has to just follow Gabe in whatever he wants and give up stuff every time. Most working people don’t have the luxury to just leave their job because they “don’t feel inspired” and they have to stick to something to support and feed their family. Also ik this is a hard job, but it’s also chill and fun to just hang out and have fun convos with friends, and you didn’t HAVE to make such strict weekly upload schedules… lol it’s your podcast, you can do whatever you want with it and upload whenever you want. There’s no reason to let it stress you out like that. I hope that Jess finds her new dream and passion too because she had to give up this one.
And I know if she ever replies to this kind of comments she’s gonna be all humble and protect her husband and saying there are things people just don’t know (which can definitely be true) all because she has the biggest nicest heart.

It is easy to assume things about other people's relationships, specially when it is public. I've been following their relationship since they were dating and I could have the opportunity to see how much they love and care for each other, even though I know there are parts of their lives they keep privet. When I read this comment I could put myself in their shoes and thought about how hard it is to read a comment like this about someone I care so much.
On one hand, how can you keep doing something you like but hurts or make someone you love feel so uncomfortable. If you love someone, you can't avoid feeling their pain too. I cannot say this with 100% sure, but maybe Jess is giving up the podcast because she sees how Gabe has struggled with this kind of situation before, and on this context it's not a sacrifice, it's an act of love and compassion.
On the other hand, It's not easy to verbalize when you are struggling with something that makes the person you love feel happy about. I don't see Gabe demanding this "sacrifice" from Jess, it's clear how bad he feels to ask something like this from her.
I'm not married but I know that being in a relationship means making hard decisions from both sides.
And now I say this to Jess and Gabriel, if you are reading this: Keep listen what God is saying to you. He feels your pain and He knows your dreams. Just keep having faith in Him and be sure that you'll know what to do that will be better for your family!! Maybe this will be an opportunity to advise your daughter when she goes through this kind of situation in the future or maybe it's just the end of a season and the beginning of another one. Anyway, God has a purpose for everything! 🤍
The only thing heartbreaking here is Gabe not feeling fulfilled!! That could really drive a person mad!! Jess being his rock and support and devoted WIFE, is faaaaar from heartbreaking!!!! This is what a real marriage/relationship is!!
I think Gabe really started the whole vlogging thing and helped Jess come out of her shell. However, Jess is now her own person on social media! Although we love them together, she doesn’t need him to continue with the things she’s passionate about. She should continue the podcast! I would listed…

This video made me so uncomfortable on Jess’ part. I feel like Gabe dismissed a lot of the comments she was trying to make about the situation. Also, he’s in the process of making a short film, but can’t stick to a podcast out for Jess. I feel as though he’s envious of Jess’ own popularity and success, as the end of the podcast was a sacrifice she made for Gabe even though she had made it clear to him for years it was something she wanted to do.
This feels so vulnerable and intimate, and I admire you both for making a decision that works best for you and your family and for sharing this information with us in such a graceful way. 💛

They aren’t quitting the podcast. They are taking a break from it. That is why the title says goodbye for now. Also that was mean. He isn’t forcing Jess to do anything. They have made this decision together and decided to both take a break.

“Giving myself space to recover and explore.” This REALLY resonated with me. As a video editor experiencing immense burnout, I’ve found it’s something that demands to be felt! You can’t recover without often shutting out all the noise. Exploration is such a crucial part of creativity
I am 100% the Gabe here but wish I was the Jess! 😂 Jess thrives on the consistency and Gabe needs the project based novelty and I totally get that! I think if you’re that way creatively, some people can’t understand how soul sucking the mundane, predictable jobs can be! I hope Gabe finds something that is project based and offers plenty of opportunities to do new and novel things. I also hope that Jess keeps going and potentially does a women’s podcast on her own. You have to go in the direction that you need to go and people will still follow along no matter what, because you’re great at what you do and professionals! Best wishes guys 🎉❤

I don't want this comment to seem mean or unsupportive of what Gabe is going through but it seems the reason for them stopping the podcast is cozs of what Gabe is going through, which he needs to work on and figure out. But Jess don't stop your dreams of doing a podcast, as everyone says we would love to see you continue the podcast, the content you post is awesome Jess.
Fully support you both regardless of what you are doing. You never let anyone down because you live from your heart--it's obvious! I bought the book "The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" that you recommended in Ep 18 of SFSG. It is so good and it looks like you are taking its advice to heart: slow down. I will be doing the same! I've also got on the top of my mind the importance of living with intention and meaning (something I learned from your book Gabe!). So thank you for the help you've provided to me and so many others! In the meantime, Gabe, please consider getting your adrenal and cortisol levels tested, you might be dealing with adrenal fatigue :). Taking care of yourselves is so important. You can’t pour out of an empty cup and you have to take time to refill that cup in order to be most efficient! You’re parents now and taking care of your family, spending time with The Lord, and pouring into each other should be your biggest priorities. I think it's about time Jess starts her own podcast and Gabriel gets actual help. This whole cycle of starting and abandoning projects, gabriel falling into depression, making a weak comeback, etc. has happened continuously for the past five or so years. It's high time you guys actually do something about it and this time Jess shouldn't be dragged down too. I hope she does whatever projects she wants to and doesn't dim her light for her husband as always.

Haven’t watched the full vid yet but read the description and as a moreso silent follower, I wanted to leave a comment just of appreciation for yall. I’ve been here since the vine days and feel like I kinda grew up with yall. Our phases of life aligned very closely and I am now 24 and getting close to trying to kids with my husband. With all of that said, I feel like yall are my friends and as friends and family in Christ, I would like to just say that you guys are doing an amazing job. The Lord will be well pleased with this decision because there is never a time where work should come over family. I highly respect you two and the discernment and prayer you must have gone through to get to this point. Very well done! I’ll be here for whatever you do decide to post and always rooting for you from afar until we get to meet one day, either in person here on earth or in glory with Christ. Either way, yall are family and I am so blessed by you and your content! ❤

Honestly, this is beautiful & articulated so well. You owe us nothing. It’s so inspiring to watch you both shift into this season of adulthood & parenthood. It should look so different now that you’re 7 years into marriage, been doing this job for over a decade, etc. We all have been at jobs for two years or so, decided we don’t like it or it’s not a good fit, & move to a different career; you both should have freedom to explore. Praying that this is a new start of refreshment for both of you. Praying that God would flood you guys with clarity, provision, direction, & opportunities to go into what you feel gifted with in the film industry. God is up to something so good. I’ve watched you guys since the very beginning…If pastors often take a sabbatical, you should too!!! Nothing about this is selfish or ungrateful. And like anything in life, quality far out weighs quantity, you deserve to only produce what your proud of and not just produce for schedules sake.
Gabe I really want to personally encourage you from one creative to another, for one of my classes this semester is having to read a “creative devotional book” by Todd Henry, I’m only a few pages in, but the practices he encourages you in are honesty so beneficial. It’s called “Daily Creative” by Todd Henry!

This resonates with me so much! My friends and i made a podcast in 2021 and continued it through 2022, but it eventually became so demanding and even just finding the times to edit the podcast and think about what we wanted tot all about became taxing on all of us. I definitely agree with y’all that it’s the right thing and that it’s one thing you can kinda easily let go of for the time being (if not forever). It’s still fun to have a podcast set up just to talk with friends with lol. It’s fun to chat and hear your own voice. But you guys are rockstars! I hope you both find immense joy in the extra time you have now!

You guys don’t have to work together if the direction you’re heading is different, honestly. That way it won’t cost your relationship and won’t suppress one or the other. At the end of the day, what matters is what brings YOU the joy. Sure you may lose some audience who does not resonate with your future content, but you’ll gain those who do love it. Everybody wins!
