RIP Mark Elliott. You were a legend and you will be missed.
His voice over talent goes beyond just these Walt Disney/Buena Vista Home Video VHS idents and trailers. He also has contributed voice work for CBS, has filled in for Casey Kasem (1932-2014) on Kasem's old American Top 40 radio countdown in 1977 and again in 1982, and then once again as a sub host on Kasem's other show Casey's Top 40 in the early 1990s, and has also contributed to various radio stations in North America between 1957 up until retirement. May the legacy of Mark Elliot live on forever, and let us keep his legacy alive.

Mark Elliott was greatest voice announcer for trailers for Disney home video and trailers for upcoming animated films from Disney for releasing on Cinemas. Rip, Mark Elliott.
Rest in Peace, Mark Elliott. The voice of my childhood...
RIP Mark Elliot, a true Disney legend!!!
Mark Elliott, if you can hear me, I want to say thank you. Thank you for all you contributed over the course of your life. Whether it's being the announcer for Walt Disney's vast collection of movie trailers & introductions on VHS or your success in prior entertainment productions eariler on, you're another of the legends that has given the world so much & the sounds of your voice will undoubtedly be missed dearly. Thank you for it all.
You know you're from the 90s when these get you running out of your bedroom while your parents are in the living room watching an R rated film 😂
I was born on September 23rd, 1997.
This is giving me goosebumps
This just tapped into somewhere deep in my brain. The font... and the purple background...
Even in this day and age, I still feel as if there's just something rather ominous about these Disney bumpers. I mean the way the fonts are written, the overblown music, and the voiceover- all three just keep me somewhat unease. :|
Yikes! 3! :O
Me too, as a child I would literally run and hide behind the couch. In fact, some of those old trailers gave me an eerie and an unpleasant sensation. Even now, it's still somewhat uneasy. I can't really describe it, but there's something unnerving about it.
Who are you telling? Man, I was scared of that music a lot when I was a kid. When Disney started to change things up with the bumpers and logos, I felt more at ease. To this day when I watch videos with these particular bumpers, I feel like I'm on a suicide mission.
When i was younger, i actually loved these Disney bumpers. Everytime i hear them now i get flooded with nostalgia. But i do agree with the uneasy feeling you get when you hear them. Everytime i hear these fanfares, i always get goosebumps everytime. I can't tell if they're pleasant goosebumps or if they're not pleasant. I tend to lean towards them being pleasant, but i understand the uneasy feeling you get. Whatever you all feel, we can all agree that these disney previews and bumpers bring back so many memories.
Coming in with 100% agreement with everything being said here. I find this stuff both fascinating and unnerving. However, much unlike the DTMF dialing tones heard at the beginning/end of VHS cassettes, I braved my way through much of the unnerving feelings I got when seeing several of these. That in and of itself is nostalgia at its finest for me (especially since I used to be such a scaredy-cat when I was younger), and definitely worth all the unnerving and fascinating feelings revisited today. Makes me glad to know I'm not the only one. XD
A certain part of my brain has been unlocked from the announcer’s voice. Kinda creepy, but really wholesome
You have no idea how nice it feels to find other people who were terrified of these as kids. I thought I was the only one. I wonder if they stopped adding them to cassettes BECAUSE of the fact that it scared so many kids. I have vague memories of standing on top of the headrest of the couch when they came on because I felt safe there.
Me too
Had nightmares of these
In my nightmares, these bumpers (along with, interestingly enough, Columbia Tristar's old "Theatre Near You" used from 1993-96) used to chase me around a dark alley or a hotel corridor (in similar vain to "The Shining"). I still hear these in my dreams, though not as badly as before.
@@ImNotLoganA it's the handwriting feature presentation bumper tho. My nightmare was that it vacuumed me in through many tricks, like telling me I had mail for example
@@itsjrStudios dude... I think I remember that too. One side of me still loves DVDs and VHS tapes, but the other is SO GLAD these bumpers are nonexistent for the newer generations used to Disney+, Netflix and RUclips.
1:21 i’m really glad I’m not the only one who found this very creepy. I don’t know why but this always made me uncomfortable growing up. Watching it again in 2019, not much has changed lol
Same here. I had a fear of that variant and the plural version of it, ever since I was eight and a half years old. But the Feature Presentation logo I was scared of when I was just four years old. Nowadays I just still have the creeps watching them both
Joshua joshtwc10 Lol exactly. When I watch this on VHS growing up, I always have to ask my mom to fast forward this part because it just creeped me out so bad. Haha 😂
I had the same problem growing up. Come to think of it, these bumpers are cursed because there's just something rather dark and grim about them.
HighVoltage Shock looking at it again almost 20 years later, I can definitely say it was the script fonts and that creepy music that made it so uncomfortable to watch. But hey they call it “The Dark Magic of Disney” for a reason, right? 😂
Ivanimal Reacts It was seriously the worst 😂
I remember this Disney bumpers while I was younger. Great memories.
I really miss those good ol childhood days and I wish to rewind.
R.I.P. Mark Elliot
The only one I was really uneased about was 1:12. I saw it on my Beauty and the Beast VHS when I was about 6 and was weirded out by it and never touched the film again until it’s 3D re-release in 2012. Now it’s not as bad as I thought it was, but still gives me a bit of goosebumps.
Special previews meant Pinocchio AND Dalmatians. Preview meant only the latter.
What is wrong with you?
its the first note. that's the shock

Beau Weaver
There's a lot of Walt Disney videos involves with the purple feature presentation, even the dark blue (rare in The Rescuers) just sounds scary. Whenever it comes up, I usually push the mute button, or fast forward the tape that way I don't hear the terrifying sound.
The one that said Coming to Theaters for the 1992 Holiday Season was shown on the 1992 VHS of 101 Dalmatians without the music and the 1992 VHS of Beauty and The Beast with the music and some copies of The Lion King has the coming soon to Videocassette bumper or just the coming to Videocassette bumper.

I can't even write like that! I can't write cursive. Who is even writing this? Mickey!?
0:20 - Taken from the 1995 VHS of "The Lion King"
DUDE I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE IN THE 90s! My mother and grandmother used to get mad that I would hide when this came up they were like STOP WITH THE FUCKIN FEATURE PRESENTATION SHIT! 😂😅
FUN FACT: Most of these bumpers were only used 1 to 2 times. The Now on Videocassette bumper was only used on 1995 Masterpiece Collection titles and the Feature Presentation bumper was used from "101 Dalmatians" to "Zero to Hero". The Coming to Videocassette bumper was ONLY used on The Lion King. Wasted!
In the year the "Coming Only to Theatres this 1992 Holiday Season" bumper was shown on Disney VHS tapes in 1992, here is a fun fact:
The 1992 Orange Bowl took place in January between the Miami Hurricanes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the national championship, and Miami won the Orange Bowl, claiming their 4th consensus national title for the 1991-1992 college football season.

Exactly. Nothing's scary about it. People that say this scared them are just wusses.
@@YTWarrior100 Actually, people who were scared of these because of the sudden music and environment therein.
I remember back when I was a four my parents put in the 1998 VHS of the live action remake of 101 Dalmations for all of us to watch when I came across the bumper at 1:36. (Note: I still own the 1998 vhs of the live action remake of 101 dalmatians) That bumper startled me so much that I nearly had a heart attack. Because of this I never intentionally saw that bumper again until I watched it on RUclips in 2010. I still get goosebumps from it whenever I see those kinds of bumpers unintentionally.
@thenumetalfan Yeah, I have to say that. There's nothing scary about this and any wuss that does get scared by it need to grow a pair.
