I always felt it was like, by and for emo kids who had really fun yet also bittersweet memories, maybe with some romance, and just want to recapture that feeling again now that they've grown a bit older and dealing with life. kinda like pop punk, but for folks in their mid-late 20's, and I mean it only in the most positive way.

I can relate so hard to the "I don't know what makes good music" sentiment. One of my favorite channels is Sideways and listening to this man barely contain his passion as his brain is about to blow a gasket as he talks at length about music and musical theory and the absolute madmen that are Rodgers and Hammerstein and Hans Zimmer and just musical theater as a whole absolutely entrances me every time he makes a video, yet I have barely any clue what he is talking about.

Holy shit I was not expecting the wave of emotions that came back over me once you mentioned nick drakes “pink moon”. I found that album at a very sad and vulnerable time in my life. I feel what Joey is saying when talking about music, i'm the same. Also I never tought that Garnt would like indie rock; he looks like the type who listen pop music. also I thought that Connor would be the guy who blasts electronica with dubstep and edm...I was wrong. I liked this i have to listen some of the bans that connor put they peaked my intrest. A petition for trash taste; if you could add subtittles that are not auto generated please. Minami is an sort of an outlier in that she started as a singer signed onto FlyingDog; a record label specifically for anime music. But considering the face of the Vocaloid/niconico music boom is Hatsune Miku there's always been those two halfs of people who love creating music and otaku/anime fans that came together in making that community what it is.

I was listening to this on Spotify on my drive, and when Connor said Parcels was on his 3x3, I had a double take then freaked out because I love that band! Connor has my respect for that. W+based+great taste in music
As a musician who has performed in front of large audiences before, I can confirm; when the audience and the band are all in sync with each other, sending energy back n forth, it is, no hyperbole, one of the greatest feelings/experiences you can ever have in your life.
For me, at this point I listen to almost exclusively japanese artists. Not even because I think they´re inherently superior, but just because I´ve listened to so much japanese music that RUclips doesn´t know anything else it could recommend to me anymore, and I don´t have any real incentive to seek out new music on my own lol.

I got to go see "The Wall" live with my Dad years ago and had almost the same experience as Joey. Though the stage didn't rotate when I saw it, parts of it opened up and they projected video onto it. It really is just as incredible an album as Joey says.

I think this will be my personal favorite episode of Trash Taste for a long while. Anime and Mangas are incredibly popular in France since the 70's. Daft punk were french kids in the 70's/80's. In France Albator (captain harlock) was incredibly popular from the late 70's to the 80's. They said in multiple french interviews, that it's there love for Albator (Harlock) and Galaxy Express 999 that pushed them to ask Matsumoto to collaborate with them.
And when I thought I couldn't love the bois even more, they hit me with so many artists that I also listen a lot to. Minami, ZUTOMAYO, Pendulum, Snail's House, Eve, Muse. I'm glad that even tho Connor thinks of music as bleeps and bloops he still likes things like Snail's House and Pendulum. Nice.

I actually respect that Connor is willing to acknowledge how little he knows about music and that he doesn't know how to explain it when he talks about it, I honestly find it pretty endearing, and I think it's much better than people who really try to explain and talk about music and pretend they know what they're talking about while acting really sure of themselves, but just end up just explaining things in a really lacking and uninformed way that doesn't really do it justice, I find Connor's explanations to be a lot more genuine and engaging as a result. I also find interesting how they make fun of him for not being able to explain the feelings behind music, because truthfully I feel a lot of what music evokes in someone isn't really meant to be easily explainable, some people who have the capacity do so find ways using certain words, terms and connections to help convey what it does for them, but what music tends to make people feel is more about vibes, sensations and mental imagery as much as it is about typical emotions a lot of the time (especially with instrumental music) so I really don't blame him struggling with it and I still find it fun to listen to him try 😄
For me I developed a way to talk about the music that I like because I tend to like music that is not well respected by people who supposedly know music. I love The Backstreet Boys and people in the US tend to give little respect to boys bands so I felt like I had to defend my choice to listen to their music.

Took me this long to listen to this episode. I should listen to all these music they're recommending, but ironically, they said so much that after the episode, I'd have to play back everything. I'm not much of a music guy myself. Like Garnt, I require the visuals to go along with it a lot of the times. And of course, there's so much good music out there that some people will slap different and you'd want to listen to the entire album. In the end though, music has always been about the soul. What you like to listen to is dependent on your mood, what you're going through, and it defines you. In Connor's case, I think the reason he has trouble with music the way he does is because... To be frank, he didn't need music to help define him. He's just a chad. He carves his own path and doesn't need influence outside his interests. And he's only interested in what he can do. But of course, I'm not Connor, so remember that this is just a theory. I base it on what I can see of Connor; his videos, his streams, and his interactions with others.
Damn, I was blown away by the different ways in which the boys have a connection to music, especially Joey. Being a college music student and musician, I was exposed to a wholly different side of music in my life - even though I feel a strong connection to it, I haven't really explored the story and concept side of the artform, moreso the technical and lyrical side of things. The Pink Floyd concert story especially kindled something in me that I missed out on. I sometimes feel that studying music in college, and in general, is just scratching the surface of what music can accomplish, because the academic approach of polishing and polishing your skills fails to show the stories you can tell, the bonds you can form with your bandmates and the listener, and the essence of why we as people can have such a deep appreciation of/connection to music...
Totally right about Ozzy, saw him in Ozzfest every year from 1996 to 2006 with my dad and while he still did good with singing he was trembling on stage every time. Just falling apart, but still rocking lol. And definitely best artist list goes to Joey, those eras and genres of music is just phenomenal. PS, Tool actually isn't really a cult band in the US. They were huge during their prime. The issue is the stagnant releases of albums kind of lessened their following over time

Also I never tought that Garnt would like indie rock; he looks like the type who listen pop music. also I thought that Connor would be the guy who blasts electronica with dubstep and edm...I was wrong. As a musician who has performed in front of large audiences before, I can confirm; when the audience and the band are all in sync with each other, sending energy back n forth, it is, no hyperbole, one of the greatest feelings/experiences you can ever have in your life.
For me, at this point I listen to almost exclusively japanese artists. Not even because I think they´re inherently superior, but just because I´ve listened to so much japanese music that RUclips doesn´t know anything else it could recommend to me anymore, and I don´t have any real incentive to seek out new music on my own lol.

I got to go see "The Wall" live with my Dad years ago and had almost the same experience as Joey. Though the stage didn't rotate when I saw it, parts of it opened up and they projected video onto it. It really is just as incredible an album as Joey says.

I think this will be my personal favorite episode of Trash Taste for a long while. In France Albator (captain harlock) was incredibly popular from the late 70's to the 80's. They said in multiple french interviews, that it's there love for Albator (Harlock) and Galaxy Express 999 that pushed them to ask Matsumoto to collaborate with them.

My first cd I bought was SmashMouth “All Star” when I was 12. I was super embarrassed for a long time that it was my first album, but it became a meme classic. My dad’s first was Bob Dylan on vinyl, which I always thought was way cooler. ALSO I was expecting some British dubstep or trip-hop (Bristol sound) from Connor or Garnt. I’m from TX but I love a lot of British music, SO to Garnt w/The Kooks and Joey with the classics.

I actually respect that Connor is willing to acknowledge how little he knows about music and that he doesn't know how to explain it when he talks about it, I honestly find it pretty endearing, and I think it's much better than people who really try to explain and talk about music and pretend they know what they're talking about while acting really sure of themselves, but just end up just explaining things in a really lacking and uninformed way that doesn't really do it justice, I find Connor's explanations to be a lot more genuine and engaging as a result. I also find interesting how they make fun of him for not being able to explain the feelings behind music, because truthfully I feel a lot of what music evokes in someone isn't really meant to be easily explainable, some people who have the capacity do so find ways using certain words, terms and connections to help convey what it does for them, but what music tends to make people feel is more about vibes, sensations and mental imagery as much as it is about typical emotions a lot of the time (especially with instrumental music) so I really don't blame him struggling with it and I still find it fun to listen to him try 😄

For me I developed a way to talk about the music that I like because I tend to like music that is not well respected by people who supposedly know music. I love The Backstreet Boys and people in the US tend to give little respect to boys bands so I felt like I had to defend my choice to listen to their music.

Took me this long to listen to this episode. I should listen to all these music they're recommending, but ironically, they said so much that after the episode, I'd have to play back everything. I'm not much of a music guy myself. Like Garnt, I require the visuals to go along with it a lot of the times. And of course, there's so much good music out there that some people will slap different and you'd want to listen to the entire album. In the end though, music has always been about the soul. What you like to listen to is dependent on your mood, what you're going through, and it defines you.
In Connor's case, I think the reason he has trouble with music the way he does is because... To be frank, he didn't need music to help define him. He's just a chad. He carves his own path and doesn't need influence outside his interests. And he's only interested in what he can do. But of course, I'm not Connor, so remember that this is just a theory. I base it on what I can see of Connor; his videos, his streams, and his interactions with others.

Joey’s new arc has started.
Damn, I was blown away by the different ways in which the boys have a connection to music, especially Joey. Being a college music student and musician, I was exposed to a wholly different side of music in my life - even though I feel a strong connection to it, I haven't really explored the story and concept side of the artform, moreso the technical and lyrical side of things. The Pink Floyd concert story especially kindled something in me that I missed out on. I sometimes feel that studying music in college, and in general, is just scratching the surface of what music can accomplish, because the academic approach of polishing and polishing your skills fails to show the stories you can tell, the bonds you can form with your bandmates and the listener, and the essence of why we as people can have such a deep appreciation of/connection to music...

Totally right about Ozzy, saw him in Ozzfest every year from 1996 to 2006 with my dad and while he still did good with singing he was trembling on stage every time. Just falling apart, but still rocking lol. And definitely best artist list goes to Joey, those eras and genres of music is just phenomenal.
PS, Tool actually isn't really a cult band in the US. They were huge during their prime. The issue is the stagnant releases of albums kind of lessened their following over time
