    In the beginning of your videos, I cannot hear a word you are saying unless I turn the volume to max. Even then I struggle to hear the beginning. I usually hate turning volume to max, but in your case, you never put some annoying loud music or load cars or whatever others do in their introduction. After you start fishing, I can hear you much better perhaps because you get excited about the catch and talk louder. Love that part! In fact I love seeing you catch and release so much I have subscribed. Love to see you catching those nice fish! Keep the videos coming! Currently, I fish an indicator setup, usually wool light weight indicator on rivers and a sliding cork with toothpick indicator on lakes with barbless jig hooks and weighted beads to keep the slack out of the tippet to flies. Your videos make me want me to try the euro style rod set up on rivers. The 2wt. Moonshine sounds very sensitive and perfect for a beginner euro guy.

      @@richardboesel I think, when you are wearing the camera, I hear you great. It is only in the beginning of the big browns and this video 2nd day when you are not wearing the camera that the volume of your voice is too low for me. Like I said though, I like so much, I Subscribed. So do not worry or fret over this comment. I love seeing you catch fish and when wearing the camera, I hear you great. I have made a few videos and my biggest complaint is wiggling the camera way too much. Making people seasick. LOL!
      Keep them catching fish videos coming! Loving them!

    This is why woman always think men are messing around on them. Out in the creeks playing like kids. Love this.

    Very nice video. The forest type around the stream looks like the eastern us. Can you tell me what state you are fishing in.

    What jig/size were you using? Just got the same rod in a 3wt and looking to fish the Chattooga this weekend. Great vid!

      Sorry for the delay -- Most of my flys are size 12-16. The real issue is the bead size. You need to get down to the fish.
      Usually, on a big fly (like a soft Hackle) I will have a 3.5mm tungsten bead on a 14-16 hook. Smaller fly (with less drag) I will use 2.5 - 3mm tungsten bead most of the time.

    What reel is that on there

    • @richardboesel
      @richardboesel  3 года назад

      Maxcatch Avid 6-7 -- HOWEVER--I have since replaced it with a full cage reel made by Teton (see my other video on this). The microleaders used for euronymphing can slip between the spool and the reel face on 1/2 cage reels and I have lost a few big fish due to this. A full cage reel solves this. Sage makes a great one also "Sage Trout" but I didn't want to spent the $$. Full cage reels are a little heavier and harder to find, but are used extensively with Switch and Spey rods. -_good luck

      Do you think the 2wt rod would be ok with steelhead?

    How does the rod cast dries?? any good?

    • @richardboesel
      @richardboesel  3 года назад +1

      In general, this is NOT what these rods are made for .
      Euronymph rods are long and supper flexible at the tip. But, the real issue is the line. Euronymphing line is very flexible (no memory) and is not weight forward line (to keep the diameter thin and prevent wind drag).
      So don't get this to dry fly fish!
      However, I imagine the real question is -- You are nymphing along and all of a sudden see a bunch of rising fish. You can make some (Very short) casts with a dry but the line is the issue.
      In this situation, I have rigged my rod with Rio Euronymph Shorty line attached loop to loop to a regular 3 Weight WF line. (This is a 20 ft piece of Euronymphing line)
      So, I detach the Rio Euronymph Shorty and loop on a mono Tapered leader to my 3 wt WF line and attach a dry and give it a go. Works OK.
      Would I rather have my 4 wt 9foot with WF line -- Absolutely! But in a pinch, you can get by with this setup.

      @@richardboesel thank you..and yes...I'm trying to get more distance...on a light rod...I was looking at trout speys for casting streamers and dries if needed...thanx for the education..👍👍

      @richardboesel  3 года назад +1

      @@henrypomereau2390 I have a 4 wt 11 ft trout spey that I love, but again, really not made for dry fly fishing. (great for swinging Soft hackles and small streamers). IF you are looking for more distance to cast drys, better to perfect your casting and take a few professional lessons. Stick with a quality fast action 9 foot rod. (Fast action rods can increase line speed especially in wind to maximize distance, but are less precise till you get used to them) Most trout spey setups have running line and are not good for mending a dry fly.
