Sorry guys I did not realize that Bob Terzoula was who I was talking about. I know who that is, he helped design the original blade tech lok. Also had a hand in this Civivi lock that’s why the clip is so good.
I treated myself to the Civvi Timberbark for Christmas but am inclined to agree with you. Looks great, black with green micarta and a deep belly... Kydex sheath perfect with no rattle , blade great in itself but yeah as you say just doesn't fit right or sit safely in a 'manly' hand. Damn shame realy - Fine for opening boxes at home I suppose but wouldn't feel safe taking it out on a camping trip/bushcraft woodland trip etc... Love what you do man, thanks so much and God bless you and your family.
@ No. I took off the generic techlock and just carry it as is in my front pocket, like a traditional folder. I do have a Multi clip if I change my mind later, but this style of carry for me is so handy.
While I do not seek out knives with 3-finger handles, when they come with a lanyard hole you can always attach a square knot paracord lanyard extension for your pinkie. This works quite well in this configuration. So not all is lost for people with adult hands. :)
Thank you for the discount on the architect knife ! I pulled the trigger and got the 4.5 in magnet cut before they ran out of all of them, now I have all of them ,except the 3 inch .I have the 3.5 on up to the 8. Thank you again.
Another issue is that they ran it at 57-59 HRC. They usually do their 14C28N at 58-60 HRC so why did they run it softer here? Lots of fixed blades run at least 58-60 HRC with less tough steels and 14C28N is among the toughest! To answer your question, 14C28N is a fantastic budget steel overall and the high toughness makes it ideal in harder use fixed blades.
I got bit by the bug in 1990. A great many of my old knives are AUS8A and ATS34, they are almost all users and I've gotten excellent mileage from every one! We're very lucky to have today's full race knife steels but the oldies still hold some value for us!
The Vosteed Mink could have made that comparison list as well. I had my eyes on the timberbark but I changed my mind exactly because of the handle length and design. I ended up with a Benchmade steep country instead. I know it's not on the same budget level but I have better steel and design, plus it's made in the USA. Loved your review and have a great year Aaron.
I have large and long hands, small ( handle)knives are simply a no go for me. I tend to go for larger folders and likewise larger fixed blades. I’m glad you chose to review this particular knife, it’s often hard to judge the size online. I have to drive an hour and a half to get to a sporting goods store. So handling a newly released knife isn’t an option.
I was looking at this one as well as Kizer Hare and Kizer Beaver. I already have the OKC Rat 3, so getting this one doesn't make much sense in addition to the points you brought up. Thanks
Appreciate your candid reviews. Civivi is a company that could easily be taking advantage of the well designed, small EDC fixed blade craze. [Kizer is an excellent company which immediately comes to mind.] I tried a different fixed blade Civivi two years ago and was not impressed. In keeping with your Yukon Cornelius theme, it now resides "on the Island of misfit knives."
I'm so excited that CIVIVI started making more fixed blades! Especially ones in 14C.. But after the Nitro-V on my Stormridge seemingly having issues taking / holding an edge and knives like this with micro handles, I'm just scratching my head wondering how this is happening after what we've come to know & love about CIVIVI folders.. 🤔
The big ole "large sized hands" aren't doing it for you 😂😂😂. Seriously, there's plenty of options for larger, and smaller, hands. That's the thing with the hobby, lots of options out there. Happy new years 🎉
I’m not going to buy it because I already have two Esee 3’s that fill the role this knife would serve in . 14c28n is one of my favorite non powdered stainless steels . You could fix that choil in about 30 seconds with a worksharp or harbor freight belt grinder .
Hey Aaron, thanks for the great content! Keep up the good work. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the outdoor elements scout feather small fixed blade. Interesting package for backpacking
Hiya Aaron, In previous videos you had mentioned you have larger hands, and now you've given a knuckle to knuckle measurement of 3.25". Knowing now that my hand is the same size as yours allows me to better gauge what knives fall into the comfort zone for all four fingers being on the knife. Thanks for that!. For the record, while it doesn't compare to most of the knives you have on this channel, my go to continues to be the Cold Steel SRK in SK5 steel. Keep up the great reviews, and happy new year. 8)
Love the info and effort that goes into this channel. Love the way people debate politely about their preferences and uses. Love that knife collecting /using can create so many view points and comparisons. Love the fact that a comfortable sub $100 knife can really do anything a crazy expensive knife can do in real life ( ya not as long etc) It’s a fun hobby that can get ridiculous looking for that UNICORN. Still awesome though. I appreciate it, and info is given, id be sad if he just found the perfect knife and quit lol.
G'day Aaron, yep as a stainless lover, 14C is the one I look for to keep the cost down and I do think a good 440C and 9Cr are still worthy too. Buck's, (Bos's), 420HC has served well. Things like 12C, 1.411, Inox, AUS-8 and 8A do make good tools for certain applications ............. but you really wanna keep a sharpener handy. Incidentally, I call my ol' RAT-1, "the cake knife", because thats about all it can cut without needing a tune up ; ) Anyway on to this one; with ya mate, what a shame, they've gone to all the trouble of gett'n everything else right ; ( Cheers Duke.
Aaron, you're absolutely right about the glitch on the knife's handle design. A pity though, since the blade is a good one, a slicer. If I bought one,I would have to modify / change the scale. Thanks for pointing this design glitch.
This should be common sense to everyone: Make the knives so that people can get a 4 finger grip. This should not need to be said. No one likes a 3 finger handle, no one likes lanyards.
The Vosteed “Mink” leaves this one in the dust! Also, Kubey is running Sandvik steel at 60-62HRC lately, and it’s holding an edge like an S35VN.. As a fixed blade guy, this Civivi was a total miss for me!
Bob Terzoula, the godfather of modern tactical knives, knife maker/designer, made the first standard issue knife for the CIA special tactics unit, also the designer of the Civivi T-clip.
To me anything made from this brand sucks I have had horrible experiences with their knives in the past and I won’t be buying anything from them anytime soon
@gideonstactical, would it be possible to do reviews of some of the newer Swisstech knives at Walmart? I love to see a review done by you on the Swisstech Haltbar, it seems like an interesting budget camp knife. Thank you for all the amazing reviews that you do! Your videos have saved my wallet many times!
Thank you. For this video I love a lot of the fixed blades that have came out from civivi and I have had this one in my cart and out of the cart 3 times since it has come out and I was afraid that it would be too small and after seeing your video I am sure it would be too small for me and my liking.Great video thank you so much!! As a fellow content creator, I like to purchase things that I am very sure that I am going to like, and I am not going to be able to pull the trigger on this one. It will be a no-go!! 🗡⚔️🔪🪓🔥

At 1st glance, it brought my mind to ESSE, ROWEN, RATT. Feel of a competent design.
I treated myself to the Civvi Timberbark for Christmas but am inclined to agree with you. Looks great, black with green micarta and a deep belly... Thanks to your recommendation, I gifted myself the Kizer Mini harpoon in 3v for Christmas. I LOVE it.
Great gift for yourself. Have you put an Multi clip on it yet?
@ No. I took off the generic techlock and just carry it as is in my front pocket, like a traditional folder. I do have a Multi clip if I change my mind later, but this style of carry for me is so handy.
I bought myself one for the same reason. Awesome little blade
I got the same one lol
I got myself one too I put a soft loop on the sheath but the handle is a bit too thin
While I do not seek out knives with 3-finger handles, when they come with a lanyard hole you can always attach a square knot paracord lanyard extension for your pinkie. This works quite well in this configuration. So not all is lost for people with adult hands. :)
Looks like a perfect hunting knife to me. Thin, flat grind, great skinning belly and one of my fave hunting steels
Thank you for the discount on the architect knife ! I pulled the trigger and got the 4.5 in magnet cut before they ran out of all of them, now I have all of them ,except the 3 inch .I have the 3.5 on up to the 8. Thank you again.
That is awesome and you now literally cover the full spectrum of used except for tactical 👍
I appreciate the honest review. I've been carrying the izula and I love it, but was eyeballing this new Civivi. Glad I found the video.
Glad it helped you avoid an expensive mistake!

What! I was on the impression they always did 58 to 60. That is odd if they did run it low like that especially for this size and Knife.
@@gideonstactical Yeah, it's right on their website. I messaged them to ask about it and they did not write back.
@@chronovore3726lower for the coated blades always. Every company.

*_Happy New Year!🤗✨🎊_*
Also got one, really beautiful knive. Slightly too small, but Im still very happy with it.
I use the Kiser Harpoon daily in the D2 variant. I use it so much I have to keen the edge once a month. Great tool!

Thanks for this review. I recently got the Oden Wolf Mini reviewed on another channel. Nice little knife and got it for $20 and free shipping.

Aaron Happy new year! God bless you and your family. Looking forward to more amazing content throughout the year.
Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
Happy new year everyone.
Great review Nick Mastassa said the same thing regarding the handle. I went with the Vosteed Mink instead because of the better handle.
Yes much better option
Preach brother....100% agreed on all your coments amd observations, thanks for always keeping it real ❤

I really appreciate honest reviews like this. Thank you Aaron. Happy new year
Happy New Year to you too!
When i seen the thumbnail, I almost thought it was a fixed blade version of the Quiet Carry Drift
I was looking at this one as well as Kizer Hare and Kizer Beaver. I already have the OKC Rat 3, so getting this one doesn't make much sense in addition to the points you brought up. Thanks
I will be gifting myself that mini harpoon in 3v, good gracious it's nearly perfect
It is really good!
The design looks like more of a discount competitor to the Benchmade Hidden Canyon, in which case the short grip is on point.
My issue with a lot of the edc fixed blades that Civivi, and Kizer put out is that their handles are just a tad too small for my hands.
Really good preview, Aaron!! Thanks for the eye opener. Time to go shopping!!!😂
You are very welcome!

I have smaller hands, normally a medium glove. So maybe I’d like it.
its a beautyful knife, i just dont get the fingerchoil on such a small blade
WOW what a missed opportunity...Tiny handles are the worst and why on earth put a choil on such a small knife?
I was looking to get one till I got it in my hand. Civivi really dropped the ball with this one.
154cm is a great budget / semi premium steel
Definitely a no go because of the handle but I do like the blade shape.
Have you reviewed any of the Asher Knives ? Like the fixie or little buddy?
No, but I’ll check them out.
Hey Aaron, thanks for the great content! Keep up the good work. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the outdoor elements scout feather small fixed blade. Interesting package for backpacking
That one has been on my radar for a while!
Oh man please tell me you know who terzuola is!!.......... Awesome content man!
I'm not seeing that Odenwolf Mini W at the links you provided.
Currently out of stock it seems. Will repost when they are back in stock
Reminds me of the Schnitzel Kinder except tho bad egos on this one
I'm telling it again - when testing for rattle, hold the knife, not the sheath.
Look like a skinning knife so your pointer finger goes on the top of the blade for precision cuts
That blade looks just like an ESEE 3
Have you seen the Andersson & Copra Grit?

Too many makers adding the forward choil on knives and they are not big enough to be functional.
Yeah, it’s really weird. I don’t know why why they’re doing that.

Handle is a bit short.
Just started the vid, and right out of the gate, the coil is a major turn off, for this little knife. Rather have the edge, or true handle
Looks like a Temu esee3
