The ship had encryption devices aboard. This allowed the North Koreans and the Soviets access to the US Navy's communication systems until the US Navy revised those systems. The encryption devices also allowed the Soviets to make full use of John Walker's information.

You never know. For example, during the Paraguayan war of 1864 to 1870 (also called the war of the Triple Alliance), the Paraguayans captured early on an iron clad naval warship of the empire of Brazil. They renamed it and used it. Later on has they were losing the war, they sank her so the Brazilians would not get the ship. Decades later, they found the iron clad and restored it. And its now on display you could say has a war trophy. I do not think they are thinking of returning it to Brazil. I know that lately there has been talk about the President meeting with the little punk in North Korea. Supposedly, North Korea is open to the idea of denuclearization and that's a great step in the right direction. I think that in addition, they need to turn the USS Pueblo back over to the US. Our previous presidents haven't taken this seriously and I'm sick of it. This ship has NO business being held captive and needs to come home.

I can’t lie. Part of me agrees. But after my own 20 years of service, I don’t trust the government, you know? I think the righteousness in the fights our nation has made has been non-existent since WWII. Even that, I wonder about. You know, last year I learned that the leaders of all the belligerent nations of WWI knew each other. They were actual family in some cases, and if not they were chummy… having little nicknames for each other. Yet they still sent hundreds of millions of poor young men to fight each other while they stayed protected and well fed in palaces! To me, it all stinks. And as a 50 year old that did his 20 years of deployments in the military, I just don’t think corporations are worth dying for. That’s what I witnessed. Hope this made sense. But, like I said, I’m partial to what you said… if the fight and cause is worth it and right and just you fight to the end. Eisenhower spoke with big wisdom. Gave us all something to think about and beware of. Question I have is, how many people do? He was only one of the most capable and smartest generals in history. Anyway. My two cents. Aloha. 🤙🏾
