Thank you for taking your time to explain how to do this while only including relevant information, talking at a pace and level we can understand, and including as many methods as possible.
I think we all can appreciate a channel where you put priority on Quality vs Quantity of videos (some channels just churn out as many videos as possbile, while the information is lacking a lot).
I will be making my second attempt at a bunker silo now, and my first time using Chaff 🌿

I have got to say I really really loved this video. I much rather prefer the slower explanations, your errors and mistakes from the past explained, and the overview of tools and methods. Other Farm Sim channels just try to turn out videos as fast as possible, but just say "Plant grass, mow grass, turn it into silage, Like and Subscribe!". Well, I feel confident enough to go through and use bunkers now, and I know what problems I might experience and how to solve them. Thank you! (This is my first $ Thank You video for your time, I think we all appreciate it!).
Thank you for the concrete paint trick FK, very helpful indeed! In FS22, the trick that made its rounds around release was to use a straight subsoiler to scrape out silage that was stuck in the bunker walls. It worked, but it was a real pain to do. I like this much better 👍🏻

tbh I just used a conveyor and pickup never had anything stick to the walls that way
you can attach a trailer to your forage harvester its turning is a bit restricted but it dose work you can also hook it up to an auger wagon making it somewhat like a traditional harvester

Can't wait for some fermenting silo mods. Like actual silos, not bunkers. This is how we did silage when i was growing up. No need to compact or cover and no need for buckets or belt systems

Swathing for grain crops is done with the MacDon wich gives you a harvest bonus of 25% + Then you pick it up with a normal harvester.
I love the macdon set the mower is only 5m but it swaths and fast at 15 mph
That small forage wagon with the attached Silage Additive Addon is bugged. It doesn’t deplete the additive when you cut the grass. The other Forage wagons however do work.
I’ve always just found it easier to just mow grass and bale it for silage. I don’t mess with chaff and silos. But hey we all have our preferred methods.
There are many ways to do the same thing in Farm sim as with life which is one of the beauties of the game.
Meh, the bunker is probably better for doing it in bulk with corn/forage harvester. But bales are perfectly viable.

the problem of staionary baler-wrapper is that, you need to constantly change wagon/trailer while mowing. The good thing of JohnDeere baler-wrapper is that you could just drop off bales non-stop and collecte them with trailer
I dont follow. 1) mow field and windrow 2) collect grass with foarge wagon, take it to stationary baler and unload then go collect more grass while the baler processes that load. position the baler close to the intake of a storage building and bales are auto stored when they are offloaded.
@@FarmerKlein I mean, if I use mower + forage wagon, or forage harvester + trailer, I have to unload every 50,000L of grass. However if I drop off the wrapped bales, and then collect them with the Anderson-RBM2000 trailer, I could transport 24(bales)*3500L(per bale) = 84,000L grass a time. But it takes more work, for sure, to drive around and collect the scattered bales.
@@dimes3967 There are several ways to perform the same task. The purpose of the video is to go over many of the common ways this can be done in game. In the end how you want to do it is up to you.

Hi Farmer Klein, love your work! I wonder which set of combination is better for grass-silage:
1. Mower (wide cutter) -> JohnDeere Baler-wrapper -> fermentation.
2. Mower (wide cutter) -> forage wagon (additives) to pick up -> dump into Goweil stationery baler-wrapper -> fermentation.
3. Forage harvester (narrow cutter) with forage wagon (additives) -> dump into Goweil stationery baler-wrapper (additives) -> fermentation.
4. Mower (wide cutter) -> forage wagon (additives) to pick up -> dump into bunker silo -> leveling-compacting -> fermentation.
Is additive in No.3 works if the grass is dumped into the wagon by forage harvester instead of picked-up by the wagon?
If so, both forage wagon and the staionery baler-wrapper have additives, can it work twice? (105%*105%=110.25%)
Do bunker siko worth the additional work?
I could see a forage wagon or forage harvester with additive and the stationary baler with additive giving you a double bonus. Its not really something I would think to do myself but I could see it working because grass_windrow with or with out the additive is still grass_windrow as a filltype so the game has no idea you already received a bonus from the additive. Just like the game has no clue that you used mineral feed in your TMR mix or not because at the end of the day there is just 1 TMR filltype.

@@FarmerKlein (Edit) I just tried, the forage wagon need power supply, which needs a tractor, otherwise it is not turned on, and dont consume additive. Also I found that the forage harvester all has pin connector, and if the trailer has ball connecter, the height differences will affect driving. So I can't use forage harvester and forage wagon and baler-wrapper to triple the bonus.
ah buddy you can get more than 3 cuts off a grass field in a year starting in March you harvest bale or transport to a bunker, Roll the grass with a GRASSLANDS ROLLER, fertilize if under 100% (you shouldn't be) the field is ready EVERY 2 MONTHS until November so Harvest months are March, May, July, September, and November itself, for 5 harvests at 100% fertilization and 90 to 100% Yield bonus.
Also Using the Macdon Windrower with its grass mower head will give a 25% yield bonus to grass and wind row it at the same time so IF your using silage Additive these bonuses add together! so off my 1 Ha Field harvested 5 times a year with 100% yield bonus at fieldwork level harvested with a Macdon for 25% yield bonus, and Silage additive used gives me a total of 130% Yield bonus to grass silage work, This produces 5 cuts at roughly 400,000L to 500,000L EACH Cut! (I'm not so good at staying in the field & like to manually cut lol) that's more than I got from Corn Chaff and honestly I'd rather the profit from the corn and its straw (mod extended straw crops)
I can never get it to grow in the winter. And hence I never get to harvest at march. I end up harvest 4 times only. May july sep and nov
@@Torkkar if you cut grass in November it won’t be ready for next harvest until April

I haven’t tested it myself but the belt that picks up from the ground has a pretty large pick up area.

@ yeah I know it wasn’t there on launch. I think it would work pretty good for cleaning up the bunker.
oh ya to empty it would work well as it should grab both sides from the middle to prevent stuff being stuck under the walls.
Typically a temporary 'fix' while waiting for a more permenant solution, ie. Patch with bug fixed, is known as a "workaround." As you must do some work to get around the problem. At this time, 1.3 has been released and seen video of the bug being fixed.
My main question is does the bales femernt while in the storage?
They need to go ahead and get a solo you can put it in. Having space issues with all this silage and grass

Which is more cost effective? Bails or bunker?
Its not really how I look at it and I think there are so many variables on what would or could be cost effective. You could buy very expensive specialized machines for compacting silage and removing silage from the bunkers or you could use tractors you already own for example. The way I see it is play the way that you enjoy. If playing the most cost effective way is how you enjoy then that's great. The point of the video is that you the viewer understand the mechanics of making silage and at that point which way you do it is up to you.

I forgot just how much base-game sucks without CoursePlay and AutoDrive. The new improvements are great, although not that great. Great for console players I would imagine. They don't cut it for anything other than very small scale farming...and small scale farming is boring.

Its coming, just do not know when right now. Once we get out of the animals we will dive into crops. Ah man.. I was really hoping that you would show how to use the machine that puts multiple bales in a single roll... Before I bought it, I wanted to know how to use it, because I don't really know what to do after you have the bales in a roll. Do you bucket it? Do you stab a single bale and it rips the plastic? Idk..
You can press a button to unwrap a bale before you grab it if you prefer (once it has turned to silage). Just walk up to the roll and it should pop up as a suggested action in the top left corner. Then can grab with a fork etc as you like with a loader or tractor with front loader arms
I used it in last nights live stream. I have a hard time knowing what should and shouldnt be demonstrated. we have had the wrapper since 19 so I kind of just go under the assumsion its usage is known at this point. You place it along a field or fencerow of where you want the 'sausage' to be. you unfold it and turn it on. Then you place a bale using forks in the intake end, the end highest off the ground. The machine will take the bale and start the wrapping process but stop half way into the bale until you present another bale. at which time it will wrap and push the sausage out the other side of the machine. after you have added 4-5 bales you will notice the machine is pushed backward as it processes the tube of bales so when starting think about what direction you want the tube to go. then when you have put the final bale you want in you enter the machine and till it to unload and it will finish out the sausage and push the machine free of the roll. At that point you wait until its turned to silage and you can hit R to open the bale and it will unwrap 1 bale at a time.
Has anyone tested what the yield is based on the growth stage of the corn when you chop it? I'm wondering if I could plant it in April and chop in July or August. Then plant grass until April.
So what is the advantage of having the silage bunker when i can just get the round bale/wrap combo and buy a storage place for that instead? Seems alot easier to me.
its just another way to make silage. in the end do what you prefer.

I don`t lose any grass after driving over it, have tryed it many times now
I’ve been using the Goweil stationary bailer along with the new straw storage shed and I love it. But no matter what whether it’s chaf or grass it bales it but will not wrap it. I can’t see any button to use that switches from regular bales to wrap. It is loaded with wrap so that’s not the problem. Any help would be wonderful.
Maybe you positioned it in a way that the bale is loaded into the storage before it have the chance to be wrapped. Can try to put the baler back from the input of the storage a bit

Is the silage additives working? i tried most machine that adds it but the value never goes down, i mean its not using it, is there a button or something to press to use it?
it works only if you are picking up grass. It worked for me on the forage harvester when I used it. That may or may not have made it into the video. I recorded about half of this video 3 different times as I didnt like the way I presented it or how it flowed.
@4:05 Would you get anything from swathing and forage harvesting a withered crop? I haven't acquired a copy of the game yet to test on my own.
My guess is the game wouldn't let you do it as its withered.

i have a problem with my silage bunker where it only removes the cover at the ends and I can't get rid of the remaining covering and therefore can't pick the silage up. What am I doing wrong?
it should auto uncover as it needs to. if you drive in with a bucket and scoop it out as it gets close to the cover it should uncover another segment
It's a long-time bug (since fs17 from what I can find online). Workaround is to take some of the silage you have already grabbed using a bucket. Tip some onto the start of the remaining tarp from your bucket.
Then, you can chase the tarp off of the bunker using the bucket to "pick up" the silage.
I then use the bucket to push all the silage out of the bunker (fairly quick process) then pick it all up using a forage trailer.
@@lmaoroflcopter ucket trick worked for me about 4 times I tried then on the 5th attempt it didn't work. its ridiculous that such a big big has not been fixed in 8 years. It means I cannot use silage bunkers now as I can trust they wont break
I made a bale tube with the Anderson wrapper. But i cant figure out how to cut the wrapping. 😮 ive seen others mention the same. But no explanation
look in the F1 menu when your at the end of a tube it should say cut for something like R. I havent made one in 25 yet but thats how it worked in 22.
I tried everything. It shows nothing. Doesn't give me an option

You need to wait for it to turn into silage before you can unwrap it, so it's stuck where it's at for now. Where you make the tube is pretty important lol.

Yes you could if you wanted. in a cut that might not have made it to the video I used the trailer in the video on the harvester but I wouldn't count it always working. There are so many ways to do something in FS its impossible to show every possible iteration.

Silage still the easiest low effort way to make money. But that darned Bunkers are bugged in this game. Cant even lift off all the "tarp" without using a 'bucket'. Even in 19 you could just open the first bit of cover, then drive a loader in and it got removed as you go. Not in this damned game. Another one of the LONG list of bugs and "thing we forgot to activate" when (so Called QA) cant even catch they "forgot to activate"# the Fert part of a planter, say A LOT of how they dingo gaf just release the game now.

This bug affects anything that isn't a bucket and appears to have been an issue since FS17. It was present in 19 and 22 too.
Had the same issue with a forage wagon trying to collect it, found the work around of taking some silage and dumping it from a bucket onto the stuck tarp, then use the bucket to collect it back up and chase the tarp off the silage.
So frustrating.

Now find a workaround for the game crashing my pc.
hopefully fixed with the upcoming update.

SIlage is needed for TMR or you can use it for the BGA. Plenty of reasons to do silage in addition to hay.
Please reply i got problem with wrappers it's bale is not supported for both straw and grass bale i use same bale size who is show in wrapper machine
you cant wrap straw and not all wrappers will wrap all bale sizes or types. Verify the wrapper your tryign to use will support the bale type (square or round) or the bale size your trying to wrap.
@FarmerKlein I wrap round grass bale 150cm with supportive wrapper but still it's shows bale is not supported

couldn't you have pulled a trailer behind the forage harvester and not need to make it a team effort?
In one take I did this but that might not have been in the final edit. The forage harvester I used and the trailer I used in the video do connect. In the past not all forage harvesters connected to all trailers. I tend to not do things like that as I try to emulate how I see acutal farmers doing things so for many things it might be possible but in my mind I think why would you, cause its not how its done IRL or at least how I have seen it done.
