as a beginner knitter, this is my first real project I'm attempting. your instructions are so clear and I am learning so much just from this video!! thank you :))
OMG! I'm actually knitting. I'm half done. I love it. I keep telling my husband I want to walk up to random people like, "LOOK AT THIS! I MADE THIS!" Excited to finish. I'm trying a sweater with the same wool after this. Thank you!
This tutorial was absoutely perfect. I was able to make this crop top within two hours and I'm a pretty beginner knitter. I AM IN LOVE with out it came out and can't wait to make different colors. If I wanted to this pattern with thinner yarn what would you suggest? Thank you so so much for this video. You are so talented!
Thanks so much so kind!! It will work the same with thinner yarn but you would need a few more stitches to start with, so maybe try a test square to see the size :) I'd suggest maybe 50 stitches on size 6/7 needles as a rough idea.
@@pinkishhaven5158 You can use small needles but you will need more stitches. I would suggest making a test square of 10 x 10 stitches so you can see how many you need
Amazing tutorial! For any fellow American knitters FYI these are size 10mm and 12mm, which is different from US sizes. It's U.S 15 and U.S 17 needles. I made a small practice version of this top because of that mistake :)
Just finished! It came out amazing! I did notice the accidental 31 stitches thing in the video, but if you stick with knitting the purls and purling the knits, it all works out in the rib. Fantastic tutorial. Made it in about 3 hours.
Hi! This video is absolutely amazing and I'm going to get materials this afternoon to make this!!! I love knitting and tutorials like this make it so easy!! ❤️
This is a fantastic tutorial! I’ve only been knitting a short while & have done a couple hats & baby booties so have a little practice with decreases, but your visual and explanation was so calm & by far the easiest to keep up with. Thank you so much! Just finished the front & cannot wait to start on the back 😊😊

I feel confident that I can follow along and make my own top soon! It will be my first knitting project that's not a scarf or blanket! Thank you for sharing!

@@inthewoodssomewhere6444 hi, when knitting with 5mm knitting needles and you started to decrease on the sides, did you decrease double the stitches each time? Did your top turn out ok?
Your project is very nice. Absolutely a beginner, but want to try. I have 6 ply yarn and 8 mm straight needles. Please let me know how many stitches should I cast on?
Excited to try this! I've only ever tried to knit a basic scarf and this seems to be easy enough to attempt as a skill upgrade! So if I were to knit a size 16, would you say I would need to cast on 36 or 38 stitches? Thank you!
Yes its definitely a beginner friendly project! I guess it would depend on your tension as well as how fitted you want it to be, maybe go for 38 just so it's nice and comfy. After you've done a few rows you can slip it off the needles and hold it out to see how if fits you x x
Very nice. It would be helpful if you gave the measurements as well as number of stitches to cast on, as I think my wool is a bit chunkier and so makes a difference. Past of cast is cast..
Hi Imogen. first of all i would like to thank you for this tutorial, but can i knit it with a 10mm knitting needle? if yes, do i need to adjust the amount of stitches? thank you and i hope you are having a wonderful day filled with love and happiness! 😊
You can definitely use 10mm needles :) Depending on what size you are knitting you might need to add a couple of stitches, also your tension. Try a square of x10 stitches and measure it with a tape measure. Then measure how wide you want it to be on you and you can calculate the number of stitches x x
Hi Imogen , loved your tutorial! made a crop top following your instructions and now my daughter (13) wants one for summer. How many stitches would you advise to cast for a XS size top? I got some Wool and the Gang 'Tina tape yarn'. Thank you so much !! Claudia xx
Hi Lovely! That yarn will be fab for summer, you will need more stitches on smaller needles. I would make a test square 10x10 stitches and then measure it in cm. Then you can calculate how many stitches you need to start with. Hope this helps! x x
