    Hey can u suggest me a best cleanser for sensitive combination acne prone skin? Also idk why but I'm getting small bumps on all over face these days so can u suggest me something for that as well??
    Currently I'm using the following:-
    FOR AM:-
    Cosrx low pH cleaner
    ROUNDLAB Dokdo Toner
    Ordinary niacinamide
    Ordinary azelic acid
    Aloe gel
    Sunscreen
    For PM:-
    SAME COSRX CLEANSER
    FOLLOWED BY COSRX Snail Mucin
    Hydroquinone and Kojic acid cream
    Then Aloe gel
    I wanted to change my cleanser coz the COSRX one is not quite working for me anymore..I used to have lot of acne and now to remove the acne marks I'm using azelic acid and niacinamide as for the hydroquinone and Kojic acid cream, that is for the pigmentation around my mouth
    PS :- I love all your videos and how you explain everything clearly 💗

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! :)
      Since when do you get these small bumps? Have you recently added a new product that may have caused them?
      I also recommend using Aloe Vera Gel before applying the Ordinary Azelaic Acid; otherwise, you won't get any benefits from it. The same could also apply to your PM routine. Do you have red or brown spots left from your acne? If they are brown, why don't you use your Hydroquinone cream on these areas as well?
      As for a cleanser, The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser or Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser are great options!

    • @sufiya_.10
      @sufiya_.10 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I have red spots and I've not added any new product in my routine...
      I've always had a bit of a textured skin and they never really got clear..somedays they are not too much but some days they are...what would you recommend to clear them completely and permanently?
      Also should I use the niacinamide serum then Aloe gel then azelic OR toner then Aloe gel then niacinamide and azelic?
      Also can u pls tell me if it'd be ok to use the ETUDE MOISTFULL COLLAGEN CLEANSING FOAM OR NOT? since it's a bit budget friendly for me that's why I'm asking😅

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@sufiya_.10 Oh okay. Yes, use the toner, followed by Niacinamide, then Aloe Vera, and finally Azelaic Acid.
      Azelaic Acid should help to reduce red spots and textured skin, depending on their cause. Alternatively, you may also focus on your diet, as food can possibly trigger pimples. Yes, you can use that cleanser.

      No, use a mild foaming cleanser instead.
      Still, I also recommend looking into the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), and especially your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, spices, milk, bread (wheat/gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).

      Hey! 😊
      What skincare products are you currently using?
      As for blackheads and whiteheads, I recommend extracting them with a tool or having it done by a beautician. You may also want to consider using an AHA (Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid) or a 4%-5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser whenever you experience acne flare-ups. Additionally, it's important to identify the underlying cause of your acne to treat it effectively, if possible.

      Do you use any other skincare products or specific acne treatments? If so, what do you use? Also, how much acne do you get and where? Have you tried not using anything for some time, not even a cleanser, and just washing your face with water, leaving your skin alone?

    • @meenutuliyani2386
      @meenutuliyani2386 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I just wash my face with a cleanser in the morning, and splash water in the evening and night followed by moisturiser and sunscreen, due to dryness issues.
      I have little acne on my cheeks, and rest and majorly bumps on cheeks and forehead. I have been using mild products without chemicals since the past few years that do not aggravate acne- these are not any acne treatment products, but also do not repair skin barrier or even out the skin.I have realised that whenever I use any acne treatment products,they make my skin worse , so I used to stick to mild products that if do not treat my acne, don't make it worse at least.
      I observe that using facial razors has caused me small bumps. My doctor suggested me Cerave foaming cleanser, followed by Cetaphil dam and photon sunscreen.Any actives hardly suit me- but was concerned if foaming cleanser will make my skin more dry and hence should use cerave hydrating?

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@meenutuliyani2386 Okay, remember that sunscreen is only needed during the daytime, not in the evening. So, wash your face with water in the AM, follow with a moisturizer, and then apply your sunscreen. In the evening, use the cleanser to remove your sunscreen, and then follow with your moisturizer. Yes, shaving can cause bumps or pimples on the face. If you choose a mild hydrating foaming cleanser like The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser or Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser, it can work well. However, CeraVe Foaming Cleanser is likely to be drying. I recommend paying attention to your diet, stress levels, and mental health, as these factors can help reduce your acne. I do experience tight/dry cheeks from time to time. However, I still prefer gel-to-foam/foaming cleansers as I feel like they clean my face much better/deeper. The skin can feel a bit tight after cleansing; however, it should normalize within half an hour. You can also use a hydrating essence or serum afterward to balance it out.

      It seems like you might be using products that aren't quite right for your skin type. If you're keen on sticking with CeraVe, I'd suggest giving their Foaming Cleanser a shot; it's a gentle option. When it comes to moisturizers, it's perfectly okay to skip them altogether! But if you do want to include one in your routine, consider trying a lotion or a gel for a lighter feel. 😄

      @@DINAN_DINSAN_yt There are so many moisturizer formulations on the market that choosing the right one can be beneficial or not. However, the one you have does not seem to suit your skin type, which could cause more problems than benefits. Overall, there's no need for a moisturizer unless you have really dry, cracked skin. • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Год назад +20

      Well, this one (Hydrating Cleanser) is for dry skin the other one (Foaming Cleanser) is for oily skin, so you can't compare them. But I also did not enjoy the cream-to-foam cleanser that much. Still, it did not dry out my skin, but it is advertised as makeup removal, which does not work that well or let's say any better than this one or the foaming cleanser.

    • @maemae4909
      @maemae4909 Год назад +2

      The pale green one also does the best at removing makeup on the first go instead of having to double cleanse and use micellar water and a toner like you do for the cream to foam. Cleansers should cleanse and most of the CereVe once don’t accomplish that without a few except for the one I am obsessed with. I have tried them all though. The cream to foam contains more alcohol so it is more drying too

The solution would be to stop using the organic soap and instead continue using the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser. After a few days, your skin should rebalance itself, as the effects were only temporary and caused by the organic soap.

    Hi Mellisa. I am using CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser for like a week and I see increase in comedones and pimples. Mostly one or two on my forehead, on my cheeks near the lips and just under the eye socket. I do not have acne prone skin per se, I have dry skin with oily nose in the cartilaginous area. Is CeraVe breaking me out and should I immediately change to some other facewash or is it just purging?
    My skincare routine
    Morning: CeraVe facewash, Hydrilla cream(moisturizer for dry skin with 6 ceramides, recommended by derma), Beauty of Jeoseon sunscreen reapplied every 2 hours.
    Evening: Double cleanse with a balm cleanser and CeraVe, moisturizer, tretinoin 0.025(started since 2 weeks, apply every alternate days), moisturizer again.
    Before using CeraVe I did not get many breakouts even though I started tretinoin just a week ago.

      Hello,
      There could be multiple causes for your skin issues, but the cleanser or moisturizer might be the issue. Another possibility is that your skin is simply overwhelmed.
      The 'sandwich' methods you're currently using aren't something I'm fond of personally. They were primarily implemented for the use of high-strength tretinoin, not the lower concentrations you're applying. The objective of this method was to buffer the tretinoin, thereby slowing down its absorption and reducing skin irritation. However, this does raise the question: why not choose a lower strength from the get-go?
      I suggest giving your skin a break for a few days to recover, and then try the following routine:
      Morning:
      Use the CeraVe face wash, then gently pat your skin dry.
      Apply Beauty of Joseon sunscreen.
      You'll need to reapply it every 2 hours if you're exposed to a significant amount of sunlight, or if it gets wiped off due to swimming or excessive sweating from exercising. If you spend most of your time indoors and not near a window that allows direct sunlight, reapplication isn't necessary. Keep in mind that sunscreen degrades in UV radiation; the stronger the UV rays, the faster the sunscreen breaks down. Feel free to reapply once in the middle of the day if you believe it's needed.
      Evening (to start with, do this every other day for several weeks):
      Use a balm cleanser, followed by the CeraVe cleanser.
      Pat your skin dry and wait 5 minutes for it to fully dry.
      Apply a pea-sized amount of tretinoin 0.025%, avoiding the eyelids, corners of the eyes, and lips.
      Wait 10 minutes before moving to the next step.
      Apply your moisturizer.
      If you don't see improvement, consider swapping out the CeraVe hydrating cleanser for the foaming cleanser, particularly in the evening. Sometimes the hydrating cleanser may not fully remove the residue of the balm cleanser, which can cause problems.

    Melissa does the hydrating cleanser leave a residue or thin film were it's hard to wash off? Im using the cream to foam cleaner and I'm loving it washes off easily and does not leave a film. Does not dry my skin either, i been looking for a gentle cleanser where i didn't have to apply moisturizer all the time and finally found the the cream to foam.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Год назад

      Yes, these hydrating cleansers all leave a film because they are designed not to strip the skin of its natural oils. Dry skin is lacking oils, so removing them constantly can lead to further dryness. Therefore, these cleansers are not meant for oily skin; they might not cleanse effectively enough, which can result in more clogged pores.

If you want to hydrate the skin afterwards, I recommend using a hydrating toner, serum, or very lightweight moisturizer and sunscreen. As for PM, use a regular cleanser (like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser or Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser) and then a Retinol or Retinoid like Adapalene.
