      Thank you! Ya they're specific to the Portuguese islands my family is from so I don't know how popular they are on mainland Portugal. They make me happy 🥰

    I've been living in the Azores for almost three years as a vegan and I've always wanted to try bolo lêvedo! You should try making the Madeira version which is naturally vegan and it's called Bolo do caco! It uses sweet potato and it's simply divine. I'll definitely give these Bolos lêvedos a try!

      Oh yes I think I’ve had the sweet potato bolo as a child and it was stuffed with a filling? Is that typical or do you find them plain too? I should definitely try that. Let me know if there are other recipes you would love vegan versions for because I have a lot of fun experimenting with them!

      @@TastyThriftyTimely I've eaten it as a sandwich container and it's really amazing! I've read that the typical way of eating it in Madeira is with garlic butter. As you know, most of the Portuguese sweet treats are super packed with egg yolks, but I'd love it if you were able to reproduce the Jesuitas, they've got this egg white top that I haven't been able to mimic using vegan options.

      @@Alittlebitofspine I’ve never heard of Jesuitas! They look delicious. I’ll have to ask my family members if they have had them. (And the bolos do caco with garlic butter sounds delicious too 🤤)!

    Wow!! This looks delicious ! You clear presentation makes it look so easy I am definitely going to give this a try! My kids never get soak of muffins. I’d like to learn lots of different ways to make muffins. I also make cooking videos! I love learning new recipes and tips from talented creators like you! I hope we can learn more from each other!

    I've been looking at a tradicional bolos lêvedos recipe for months now thinking how to veganize it but always to afraid to try because I was unsure what egg replacement would work better. Definitely trying this recipe!

    as I said on instagram, i love those !! it as my go to every morning at my grandma's house in potugal, we were even taking some for the ay back to france ^^

      Yum!! They were definitely a go-to for me every time I visited my Avo! I loved them!! And yes you don’t even need the oven! Super easy!!
      Hehe you’re too kind! My accent hasn’t gotten a little Portuguese-Englishy over the years! Lots of slang in my family! Haha!

      @@theunriddenadventures8126 oh wow! haha yes baking is always such an adventure! I have tested these a number of ways and in some of my experiments the dough was drier because I added extra flour and rolled it out with a rolling pin but each time still produced tasty bolos. The whole wheat ones were drier as well and still tasted good. I hope they turn out and keep me posted! 🤞

      oh, eu não tentei isso! Deve funcionar bem. Você verá apenas a semente de linhaça no pão. Deixe-me saber se você tentar! Eu tentaria 3 ovos de linhaça. Mas 2 também pode funcionar. (desculpas pela tradução)

      @@chlong. the biggest difference is that I use applesauce instead of eggs. You could use dairy butter, dairy milk, and still make these with applesauce. If you’d like to use eggs, “The Azorean Greenbean” is a popular blog for Portuguese recipes. Maria’s recipe yields more than mine but you can find it here (azoreangreenbean.com/bolos-levedos/)
