thank you I just ordered the power finesse after what your video.I also have couple of fist generation legend tournament, it still rocks in roll on the water st.croix legend series they built to last for life time. thank you st croix
WORKHORSE Here we Come!! Paired with My Shimano DC MD 23
This is what I was waiting for….thank you!
You're welcome!
Awesome overview 🔥 I may get that flipping rod
It's a winner! We hope you enjoy it!
Thank you very much for the aclarations. So which one would you recommend more for Texas jig, unleaded vinyl like ikas or sakamata spinner and chatter, the 7.1MHF, 7.3MHF or the 7.5MHF?
They look like a nice series of rods. Really good to see the actions. They are definitely softer action than many brands.
We've found that the actions on these rods are very much on point with what they say they are!
@@bassutopia I am guessing maybe it’s the angle the rods are at. If you could do parallel with a wall next rod video.
@@lightningmusky5286 We can try to do that next time!
I feel a med heavy fast st croix is faster than the same action shimano for example. I own 3 st croixs, one med heavy bass x a heavy bass x swimbait rod and a medium triumph spinning. All feel lighter than what they claim to be but I wholeheartedly prefer it. The little bit of squish they have helps me keep ‘em pinned better.
Great much needed video. Thanks
You're welcome!
@@bassutopia I’m looking for a max sensitivity bottom contact type rod. Would you suggest any of them over the 73 HXF? Or would that be the best one
@@codycantrell2780 That would be an excellent choice for bottom contact baits!
Now that'd I've used the Power Finesse a bit, I'll give a quick review. It's an awesome rod for working T-rigs through grass and grass edges. I've been using it for 7" and 10" curly tail worms or speed worms, 3/16 and 1/4 oz. With a Shimano Metanium and 16lb sunline sniper, it can bomb a bait out there. I drag and hop worms through and over grass. Picked up 30+ largemouth with it so far. Sensitivity is 8/10 IMO. The rod feels true to its rating. That tip is Xfast but soft. The backbone is definitely heavy power. It's a pleasure to fish.
Sounds like an awesome setup!
St Croix really needs to add a 6' 10" or 6' 11" mh/f for people that don't like to use long rods
I want all of them!
I bought the jerkbaits and power glass cranker rods today from this series. Wanted to get into specific rods for those techniques as well as higher quality casting rods
Sounds like you found a perfect match! Good luck on the water!
How are you enjoying the jerkbait model??
They made the victory's pretty good, the jump up to a LTB is going to be a hard sell unless they're miles more sensitive and balanced.
The new technologies used in these rods make the well worth the investment! There is a noticeable increase in sensitivity and performance with the new Legend Tournament Bass!
This was SO helpful in deciphering all of these niches and figuring out what I need. St. Croix has the greatest rods but terrible marketing and explaining their products. Thanks for doing their job for them.
The Power Finesse model is badass for 3/8 and 1/2oz jigs and t rigs with braid to leader
No doubt! We can't wait to get on the water with that model!
@@bassutopia have you tried it ?
I need help choosing a casting rod for bass. I finally decided to get into freshwater fishing and im pretty much a land base fisherman so does anyone have any recommendation wich one i should go with? I would like to pair it with the shimano curado dc.
How is the balance on the 7'3" Heavy Extra Fast? I have the victory version of that rod and it is a bit tip heavy.(but really enjoy the rod action). Debating between upgrading to that or the 7'3" MH and the tie break would be the balance. Any insight would be great.
If balance is the driving factor behind your decision, you probably won't notice much difference between the two rods. The main difference is the crispness in the blanks. The Legend Tournament is going to be a little more responsive!
Great vid! I want a rod for T-rigs in deeper submerged grass (edges or in it) about 8-12' deep. Would Power Finesse the Workhorse be best?
Both would get the job done, but the Power Finesse has a pretty cool action that excels at bottom contact techniques. That would be our choice!
Thanks! I ordered the Power Finesse. I'm surprised one of our shops up here in Canada had them in stock already.
Is the 7’3 Heavy ModFast just a shorter version of the 7’6 Heavy ModFast? Lure rating is the same, but the name of the 7’3 is throwing me off a bit. Who would throw a crank or bladed jig with a flipping stick?
The 7'3" Flip-Chat-Crank is designed to be a more parabolic action, which lends to shock absorbency when fishing close quarters in heavy cover (Flip). The rod is also designed (thanks to its parabolic nature) to fish bladed jigs (Chat) and larger crankbaits (Crank).
Was settled on a glx flippin rod, but Now I’m going with st croix. For pitching 1/4-3/8 jigs. Now I gotta figure out which of my 3 possibles I want. Workhorse, warhorse, or power finesse?
For jigs that light, you'd be best off with the Power Finesse. Those other rods would be better if you were flipping and pitching heavier jigs, 3/8 oz and greater.
@@bassutopia really!? That “heavy” rating is what scared me. I’ve got an NRX med hvy extra fast and I really like it for pitching jigs. I just assumed a “heavy” would be too stiff. I ordered the 7’3 med hvy fast st croix already. Need something with a little slower action anyway. I guess I’ll get the power finesse later. Can’t have too many, no matter what the wife says. Lol.
@@givemeabreakdoc Either way, you won't be dissatisfied as the rod you chose will handle that application perfectly as well.
Is it just me or did St Croix underrate the weight ratings on these rods? I’ve seen some of the models in stores and when I flex them I feel like they would be able to handle more than the suggested range, specifically the 7’3 HMF, 7’6 HMF, and the Warhorse
What would you use the power finesse for?
The Power Finesse rod would be a dynamite jig or texas rigging rod!
Can you punch with the 7’3 Heavy Mod Fast Flip, Chat, Crank Rod? Mainly with 1/2-1oz Tungsten Weights ?
Absolutely! That will be a great rod for flipping up to one ounce weights
@@bassutopia Do you think that Rod will be stout enough to push the weight to maybe 1.5 oz? Thanks for the timely response bro! Happy Holidays!
We wouldn't recommend going too far past the suggested lure rating on the rod. If you plan on using 1.5 oz weights, you may want to consider the frog rod!
@@bassutopia Thanks Bro!
How is the balance of the workhorse?
Overall, it's great - especially once you pair your favorite reel with it, it balances nicely!
Flip-chat-crank seems like an ideal whopper plopper rod
Could be!
I was thinking the jerkbait rod could be good too for walking baits and ploppers. May get one to check off 3 boxes
Just ordered one of these today. Called and the guy said it should ship June 1st. Ridiculous.
Most models are in stock at Omnia Fishing and they will ship same or next day from your order, depending on the time the order is placed.

Can’t decide between a legend tournament and a shimano expride B hard decision
Both are excellent options! The Expride is really well balanced, but its tough to beat St. Croix's warranty!
Definitely agree with st croix warranty that alone has made me go with st croix bunch of times over the years I’ve purchased probably 10
Need help again looking to pickup a medium heavy rod should I do legend tournament or the new mojo bass tricon
