This is a great review - I've never fished St Croix and was also very curious at the XF action rating particularly how it would fare landing fish. I know St Croix has decades of experience though so they know what they're doing.
I own this rod and I absolutely love fishing jerk baits with it. I'm 6'0", for me the length of the rod is perfect. However I prefer shorter rods for jerk baits. Thanks for a Great Video!!!
Good to hear from Sweden! I have thought of a BFS reel but haven't pulled the trigger. The Shimano Curado 70 series is throwing the Megabass 110's just fine. I've also been throwing 110 LBO with much success. The test will be when I want to tie on a 1/4oz popper and try to throw it long distance. What do you fish for in Sweden?
I'm not going to buy St Croix rods unless they bring back the limited lifetime warranty. They also go cheap on their guides. I have cheap Okuma rods with better guides than most St Croix rods.
@@FishPoint-WithJoeMichels Yes the guides on the Legend are good, but I'm talking about St Croix as a whole. Their rods snap, they go cheap on their guides (as a whole), and the value for money isn't there IMO. What made them tolerable was the limited lifetime warranty.
@@thesonorandesertangler I wonder if you are wanting a low cost rod with premium components and given the massive inflation that isn't possible in today's world. I understand that companies try to hit price points with different levels of products. When inflation is so darn bad, and you want to hit a price point, because people's wages have not kept up with inflation, you have to cut component costs. It's called shrinkflation when applied to potato chips. Not sure what to call it here, but the effect is the same.
@@FishPoint-WithJoeMichels I'll make this very simple: the St Croix Mojo Bass Trigon rods come equipped with Stainless steel guides with aluminum-oxide inserts for $175-$230. A Shimano Zodias has Fuji K guides with Alconite inserts. Same as a Dobyns Sierra. Their rods are brittle, they go cheap on the guides, and we're not getting the quality that used to be there with St Croix. Inflation isn't an excuse for business practices that have been in place for years now. It's not my fault that at every price point they're not the value leader. I'm just pointing out observable facts. Every St Croix rod I've had has snapped on me and it wasn't my fault. My Shimano rods with a 1 year warranty have never snapped.
I like the break down of the rod and such, and let me be clear i am not a hater (trying to have constructive criticism). You need to be more confident in what your talking about, simply mis naming the reel or pronouncing the rod name backwards can add doubt to your viewers and keep them from subscribing to your channel. Best of luck!
The value of my reviews is how I use DMRVP to assess the value of a rod for me in my circumstances. I hope that viewers and subscribers can map my assessments to their own needs. I know I often say Legend Tournament backward when I get going, but the model number is right in the title and description. Some people have the gift of analytical thinking and others have the gift of oratory. Very few have both. I lean analytical. But I can learn oratory.

I wosh this rod came in a 2 piece. Im on a search for a 2 pc jerkbait rod.
A very clear and informative fine video Joe, thanks for posting and greetings from Austria,Joep
Serious question: why are you interested in a jerkbait rod if you live in Austria?
@@FishPoint-WithJoeMichelsBecause I'm fishing several baitcast-combos at a lake ...

I do like this rod and the action. I can't wait to hook up with a sizable fish and really see it in action.
What reel do you line with it?
@@FishPoint-WithJoeMichels I fished it with a JDM Shimano Metanium last year. I'm thinking about trying it with an Aldebaran this year.
Good review. I would try a BFS reel on that rod. Have five StCroix rods. Greetings from Sweden

We have walleye, pike and perch. I fish primarily perch.
A very nice channel!
IMHO the best jerkbait rod is the Shimano Expride 6'10"M. It's the benchmark which jerkbait rods are compared to
It does have an attractive power and action combo. Med-Moderate Fast. And it is 6'10".
Go to a Dawai reel for a much better experience
I have never owned a Dawia.

Kistler is worth a serious look
The guides on the Legend Tournament line are fantastic. Not sure what you mean by your comment.
