Personal review of shrub rose “ bring me Sunshine” from

  • I have been simply itching to bring you my personal review of this, utterly fabulous rose
This is “ Bring me Sunshine” introduced by ‪@david_austin_roses‬ in 2022
Every time I see this rose, it stops me in my tracks
Reaching well in excess of 5 to 6 feet. This large shrub is going to need some support. My suggestion is much like Claire Austin can you give this plant an obelisk or post and grow up as a statement plant ,
I’ve surrounded mine with some Peasticks to create a very basic wigwam and the effect is very pleasing.
Coming into flower in mid June this rose will still be in flower well into October. Rewarding you with hundreds and hundreds of flowers, great disease, resistance vigour and a fast repeat. Makes this an all round winner in my opinion.
The foliage is Matt light green and it’s the background for a beautiful deeply cupped flowers that are heavily rosetted and packed with hundreds of petals. It is nowhere near as brass or coppery as the DA website and catalogue make it out to be, it’s a rich decadent, bright gold, which simply radiates colour
Virtually thornless it’s really easy to handle, but in tests at home, shatters within a few days when brought into the house and placed in a vase
The fragrance is a strong mirth with notes of sandalwood cloves redwood leather with a hint of pepper. The kind of fragrance that carries beautifully on a warm summers evening.
    fragrance rating 7.5⭐️s
this new introduction will make it very very comfortably into my most recommended top five David Austins, bearing in mind, t his is now review 100. That’s a strong accolade indeed.

Bring Me Sunshine has very quickly turned into one of my very favorites this year! OMG- tthe fragrance!! Due to your advice on height, I planted it on the corner of my outdoor covered patio. It gets 5-6 hours of sunlight daily, and now still only about 2.5-3 ft tall,, I STILL get an amazing whiff of it with a soft breeze. The blooms are this amazing golden color, and now in its 2nd flush- are huge!! I truly LOVE this rose, and will likely order another one next year for my front yard.

I often watch with CC (closed captions) on, and get some happy errors. At about 5.00 you appear to say "David Awesome roses" (can't disagree with that) and at 5.30 you describe the rose as having "a rich mirth fragrance." I'd love a rose with that fragrance!

Just found this's review & love it.
I bought this rose to plant in remembrance of my cat who passed away a few days before purchasing. Was hoping it would have the brassy overtones that you mentioned were showing on the website to reflect him being a ginger cat (a large Norwegian Forest). I
doubt I will be disappointed from what you’ve said about this rose, but it might give me an excuse to get another one more once BMS has settled in … we’ll see

What’s a lovely way to remember your beloved four legged friend, I hope it makes you smile and think of them whenever it flowers
The blooms do vary in colour, much more brass in coppery at the beginning and very end of the season and much more vivid gold during warmer weathers. Either way it is breathtakingly, beautiful, highly fragrant disease, resistant, and vigourous.

Received bring me sunshine today, also received a black baccara rose from a unmentioned company. The difference in the quality of the product, Plant size, pot size, packaging and over all health of the David Austin rose is second to none. That's my second David Austin rose in a week with another coming in a matter of days. For just a couple more pounds the difference in quality is staggering. I'm totally sold now with the company and all my future purchases will be through David Austin. I'll certainly be purchasing many more in the very near future.

      @the_gardenerben  Год назад +3

You’re most welcome I’m pleased that you enjoyed it. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but this rose now holds my number one most recommended. David Austin ranked position storming to the top after its full personal review in 2023.
This in my opinion is going to get much larger than golden celebration is bloom is much more uniform and cupped giving a much more tidy appearance to the flower
Fragrance wise. They are very comparable both rating highly with myself on the fragrance bring me sunshine getting a 7/8 ⭐️
And golden celebration a 6⭐️ the biggest difference you’re going to see is in the disease resistance, golden celebration in my growing experience, even when deeply mulched and receiving focused watering does have the tendency to go into stress and drop its leaves or succumb to blackspot bring me sunshine seems at this point to be bomb performing in all weather conditions

I hate to say it but no rose is really going to perform particularly well on a north elevation. Very few roses will tolerate 2 to 3 hours of sunlight per day. Most need at least four or five in my experiences rose does best on the South or west aspect, receiving plenty of sunlight, there is the new release for 20 2 3 from david Austin Dannahue , This rose thrives in low light levels and was even in flower at Christmas, proving that it will perform very well in shaded areas receiving just four hours of sunlight per day.
