    You sure have yourself some very fine plants going in the ground already Khang! Not only do you excell with your planting / transplanting process, you have become an expert detangler of plant roots. Here still too early for planting plants. Weather still cooling into the mid 30s at night from time to time. Last couple days very windy! -Bob...

      When will you be able to plant in ground?

    • @wranther
      @wranther Месяц назад

      @@KhangStarr Probably towards the nd of the month Khang! The dark moon tonight is too soon the way the weather has been going. Full moon on the 23rd could be a plantable in ground mark. Wind slacked off late afternoon, the onion patch isnt that cold. That is going in over the next day or so. Goal is in ground though!!

    Hey KS, or anyone having issues with rollie pollies or pill bugs. I've been experimenting with adding a few tablespoons of woodash on top of the ground around the perimeter of my transplants when I plant them. I've been doing it with my tomato transplants recently and some pumpkin seeds. It seems to be working well and can be used around any new type of transplant or direct seed. I just keep a bucket of woodash now and use a little around each transplant or direct seed each time I plant. It even seems to prevent snail damage as well. The little bugs and snails seem to not like the dry wood ash and seems to keep them away long enough for the transplant to establish. I'm still experimenting with this method although it seems promising. I just thought I would comment and share that with you or anyone having problems with rollie pollies, snails and other similar bugs. I've had the same issue with some of my transplants over the years and I may have possibly found a good method to save some transplants. This also doesnt get rid of all the rollie pollies becase they can be good decomposers of material. It just keeps them away from the transplants long enough to let the transplant establish and grow. Rollie pollies mainly like new vegetation or any mulch or old vegetables laying around so mainly I try to clear a small area of any mulch or old plant matter and then add the woodash around the transplant when I plant it. You can even add a tablespoon of woodash every few days until the transplant is big enough but normally one or two applications has been working for me. After I feel the transplant is strong enough and growing, then I'll add some mulch around the plant like grass clippings or whatever. Wood ash is also a good fertilizer in small amounts at a time. Hope that helps. Keep up the cool videos. :)

    I'm thinking breeding Aji Caballero with KSLS! I know you breed the chin version of this pepper. My seeds are from the Island. I have two plants growing. Also my scorpions seeds started to germinate finally. They took forever! I did the rest of my ksls seeds and they were successful. I have a lot now. Some are going to be used just for more seeds. If you have cross breed aji caballero with ksls let me know so I can nix that idea. If not let me know because My final product is going to be called P Starr because Aji Caballero is native to Puerto Rico!

    Can you use something like clear plastic McDonald’s or Wendy’s drink cups to cover your young seedlings to protect them from bugs? At least until the plants are more established. That’s what I’m doing this year since the cups act like mini greenhouses and I’m in zone 4a with a short growing season.

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  2 месяца назад +1

      That's a great idea

      @@KhangStarrI know some people put holes in the top of the cups for ventilation, but that’s a lot of work. I’m going to test not putting holes in them to see whether it’s works. You’re a warmer climate so keep an eye on the plants to see how they tolerate them if you decide to try out plastic domes/cups.

    Peppers are prone to transplant shock so this treatment will prevent growth until they recover. Is this correct?

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  2 месяца назад

      Yes, they will be shocked a bit.
