@@pontiac7713 I've read the book by Miss Willa Ward and I don't know exactly of what you're trying to say . You talking about them stooping to this mess that's why I asked you what mess you were talking about . If you don't like their performances leave it at that . What good does it do to try to berate someone when you could instead lift them up . These were women of God and they brought joy and hope into the lives of many . And they brought many into the fold . They were all human . they were not perfect . Their music blessed and inspired me for decades and I couldn't find something good to say I wouldn't say nothing .
@@JosephR.H. Now, let me correct myself; I'm not saying they didn't have a love for God or they wouldn't of been writting and singing His songs. We all have some mess and ur right I shouldn't have insinuated it in the public eye comparing one group to another Artist. That was wrongly done. I have stooped numerous times to my weaknesses; I've got 12 kids while I was in the church by different women in country and out of country (military). I was a young musician laying major pipe to every woman that was fine and wasn't afraid to take me on!!!! Also, I have no room to portray them in such a negative light!!!! Mahalia had her issues. Ur right Man!!!

When I speak on this subject I speak only from my own life experience . In the summer of 1970 a movie by The Isley Brothers "It's Your Thing" a concert recorded at Yankee Stadium was released to the general pubic. It featured many of the top musical acts of the day . In the year of 1969 "Oh Happy Day" by The Edwin Hawkins Singers had swept across the country . They were one of the groups performing in the film so I had to see this movie , which I did several times . I had seen Miss Clara Ward and her singers on several TV programs and they too were performing in the film . To me a young man in my late teens who was seeking direction in my life found church to complicated and confusing on how one should live their life . Through the music of these artists I found the peace and understanding I had been seeking and most important of all I found God . I greatly appreciate the dialogue we've shared on this post . May God continue to bless you .
