Thank you so much for these videos! I studied Judo at a Ne Waza Dojo...Baltimore Judo Club, Shufu Yudanshiki under Sensei John Anderson, 7th Dan Kotokan Judo. It took him 20 years of teaching , coaching and refereing to get there from 6th Dan...no shortcuts in Judo. I cant understand the bickering between the Judo and BJJ guys....The BJJ guys I trained with were from Brazil and trained in both arts. All the BJJ fighters down there held at least 2nd Dan in Judo....I see no reason for the arguing.
I honestly think there are mainly 2 issues. but these all came from the uneducated low level BJJ player who started when they are older. 1-they do not understand Judo, and watched too much UFC and thought the Gracies INVENTED BJJ, with their chokes and arm locks. 2-They believe Judo player have 0 ground game, and oh I'll just pull guard mentality. I have met tons of folks from Brazil and high level BJJ player who have nothing but respect for Judoka, it's only the mouthy % of low level folks believe bought the lies of of the Gracies thought BJJ is everything.
@@kakuto435 No it’s not because if it was, then every Judoka would have the same level of ground expertise as a BJJ guy and we all know that’s not the case at all
@@kakuto435 Nobody said the Gracie family invented anything, at least not me. However, BJJ did revolutionize and modify Judo Newaza. It’s a cold hard fact. Look at how they adapted gi techniques to NoGi. The various ways to attack leg locks. The various innovations of the guard from Keenan Cornelius and 10th planet. Worm guard, lapel guard, mission control etc. All of those techniques were nonexistent in Judo
@@wayne47able might want to do a little better research as all sources state the first Kosen match was in 1898 and the FIRST championship was 1914(1914 wasnt the foundation date). It was the ground specialist that formed Kosen Judo the same group of newaza specialist whos training buddies that went to Brazil.
Worm guard, mission control etc are only SPORT guards that are not used in fights due to leaving you open to face strikes. And LAPEL GUARD is the most common open guard stile in Kosen judo as can be seen in most of their matches. lol@@wayne47able
Its not the gracies fault that Coma felt the need to tell them he was teaching them juijitsu. Say if you were learning muay thai from a thai master in a time long before you could easily look up information and he told you he was teaching you kick fighting and then he left the country. Then you decide to open a school to keep the art alive, what would you call it? probably kick fighting. Furthermore, Whos to say that if Coma felt his personal style, which flew against kodokan principles had attacks more geared to prize fighting wanted to change the name of the art back to the parent art of jujitsu because he felt it was more complete for fighting and more geared to the street?
+benard Sellers Did the Gracies not pay their gym dues to Conde Koma or what? LMAO. You're fucking dense if you honestly think Conde Koma teaching the Gracies is theft.
Could you please tell me when was formally released this footage, by whom and under what title? Also, do you know the name of the masters involved? I recognise Masahiko Kimura and Kanae Hirata but not the others. Thank you in advance.
The fact you're talking the way you are shows you don't know the history of grappling and how if it wasn't for the Traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu and Judo you and the World wouldn't know anything about Submission Grappling. Ask the Gracie family where did their grandfather Helio Gracie who changed the Judo he learned from Maida the great Japanese Ju Jitsu and Judo Fighter who taught them how to grapple. It's history you can never change the truth

Now for all those BJJ guts this is where your grappling came from, without Kosen Judo you'd never would have had BJJ, Historical facts matter
BJJ and Kosen Judo developed in two separate places. Kosen Judo wasn’t formed until after Maeda left Japan

Kosen Judo.. The Gracies Kidnapped This Style As Their Own, Theives Without Honor
Kosen Judo didn't exist til after Count Coma left Japan. Enough with this false myth that the Gracies stole Judo.
Its not the gracies fault that Coma felt the need to tell them he was teaching them juijitsu. Ghost Jockey they did steal the concept and just ask if you need so evidence

Ghost Jockey them not giving respect. From where they learned the techniques thats stealing.....

The thumbs down are from Gracie nut cases.
Newaza existed in old style judo they didn't have a particular name for it. The term "Kosen" came later.

Cross Choke
Arm lock
It's pure Jiu-jitsu
you have an interesting, if flawed, definition of pure
Big Member and of what makes one thing derived from another
I'm sure it was Helio who taught Kimura these techniques then
