It's a good thing that these historical records still exist and the presenter is kind enough to bring them to the public eye, otherwise Rickson Gracie would have to invent everything again and relabel it.
I can't wait for the Robert Drysdale documentary. From all the interviews he's done for it, he gives judo, especially guys from the Kosen clubs a ton of credit.
How don’t you have more subscribers? Your channel is incredible. As a bjj practitioner for 10 years, learning the history of Judo and traditional techniques has been very helpful! Thank you!
Since Kimura did pro wrestling, it wouldn’t have been crazy if he got that guillotine from catch wrestling because it looks very similar to the catchy style face lock/ standing chancery. Either way it’s cool that they all influence each other.
great video as always , judo has a very deep newaza science , that is second to none , unfortunatly the rules works again it . i hope some day the ijf will waken and allowed judo to its full potential , continue the good work and thank you to show us and remaind us what judo really is . bon courage .
I feel a lot of judoka frustrated with the limitations of judo rules should start their own grappling competitions that welcome wrestlers and BJJ into the mix. That way, people can wear their judo uniform in these competitions. Heck make everyone wear it, that would make it interesting
Impressive video presentation! The timing of your comments with the videos is unique. Your video content is informative, educational, and hands-on descriptive. Few martial artists can present information like you. Continue the great work. You have a gift. And how about some background info about you? Your research is professional and detailed. Thank you.
Ima bjj purple belt and I started judo because I ran across this channel I subscribed and became hooked ...now ima yellow belt in judo I feel like my judo sucks but im gonna keep training ..
6:29 that weird angle Hammer Lock/Arm Weave is nice, you can see me doing similar from various positions on my 10 Narrated Rare Sub highlights around the world and some of my Self-Defense footage...
Those turtle attacks from 5:40 onwards are really useful. However, you won't see them used in BJJ because BJJ practitioners are taught the mantra of "position before submission" and they will just try and take the back from there.
Well, but even if the guy is a high-level Judoka with a high-level Ne Waza and he is competing or fighting with someone at the same level he'll need to secure the position before the submission, cuz if you don't the odds are that you gonna lose the submission and the position. But I understand what you tried to say, also think it's awesome seeing something different from ordinary. OSS
@@kenjisasuke7705 lmao I've seen more than one bjj gym teach it Bryan traverse from Eric Nolans who also trained at American top team matt baker whose a jj Machado black belt and Dan Camarillo a black belt judoka and bjj black belt as well here in Bakersfield California
@@kenjisasuke7705 I dont see anything unique here, its all in bjj.Since bjj has no curriculum what's taught varies between coaches depending o their background.
My favorite sneaky trick is an Ezekiel choke variation while still standing, so much fun! It normally doesn't work more than once unless your oponent is new but people always wants to know how the hell you ended the match without immediately falling on your back like everyone else in the BJJ gym hahaha. Wish we were allowed to standing choke in Judo...
I love the traditional arts! Where do you get this? It makes me wonder where the Brazilian is in Jiu Jitsu as I think BJJ has more eyes on the ground but the Japanese art already discovered it. Help me understand? Am I missing something? Love your channel.
Nice video! Kimura's guillotine looks quite similar to a Grovit face lock from Catch wrestling. Have you seen the vid where Hulk Hogan legit chokes out a TV host with it? Check it out lol
You still have the "Kosen" schools (ruclips.net/video/xwhXVkeSj-0/видео.html ). I just wish some of those guys had immigrated to the U.S. and taught they techniques here. Instead its all about Olympic style, with the exception of dojo where some black belts cross trained in jiu-jitsu.
Too bad that today Judo almost take out this ground game from their Curriculum, and good for me that I still learn all those when I was at Judo School.
Can't wait for the documentary to come out. He's already pissing off some of the old guard like Fabio Gurgel. Lord knows how the Gracies and Valentes are going to do to PR control.

Lol. The gracies take to much credit IMHO

You also see it in the game of jujitsu i think
He did pro wrestling long after he retired from judo
Love it!!! That cross choke from the over hook is 🔥🔥🔥

This same move tought and used in bjj.

Do you know if the kosen universities in taiwan and Korea still practice kosen judo?
Not sure, i need to research it
Five stars !! 🖐👺

Chadi is the daki age an original judo throw or was it inspired from other arts like sumo?
It's instinctive i think, guard slamming
Great moves

Kimura is ny legend. Unfortunately true ne waza judo died with him.
There's still good ne waza in Japan the team is doing great

There are far better grapplers than him in judo and bjj.No athletes from 70 yrs ago are near as good as todays
Chadi, in your opinion Is or not ju jutsu? About kosen judo.
Kosen is still Kodokan judo
Good video but seriously i have not understood kimura's wrist lock. I mean,he grabs his own wrist, how can he apply the wrist lock to the opponent?
You press you side on the palm, it's a wrist lock
NICE

None of those are unique to kosen.
