Wally George was the precursor to Morton Downey, Geraldo, etc. He was on a really small station from Huntington Beach. All his "fans" were more into the circus aspect of it. Some were into it but mostly it was just frat boys into the circus. Wally knew what it was all about and egged it all on.
Wally Georgevthe greatest TV show host EVER and greatest TV show HOT SEAT ever only possible in rad 80's! I also only learned of Stryper thanks to Wally George never heard of then before! Man 80's were bodacious!
This is hilarious. Funny that Stryper ended up covering a black sabbath song. And the puppy thing shows how paranoid people were back then and how easy it was to spread rumors.
They always compromised. At first, people didn't catch on, because they had no way of knowing what was going on with these clowns! Then, things began to happen that proved to the world just what they were all about. They're even quoting scriptures to Wally, and to the crowd. Big, fat, hairy deal!!! Even the Devil can quote scriptures!!! The only thing is that, every time he does that, it's done to get people to swallow the spiritual poison that he wants them to swallow. It's like hiding a poison pill in some meat, and giving it to a stray animal, just to kill them off, so you won't have to deal with them anymore. Jesus said that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. If somebody is trying to tell you something wrong, even if they use scripture to push some spiritual poison at you, I don't care how right they may sound-get away from them as soon as possible!!!
I'll start with this: I'm a HUGE Stryper fan and protagonist. With that said, I'd be willing to guess Robert and Michael didn't know what they were getting into when agreeing to appear on Wally George's show. He reminds me of Jerry Springer, only he sits behind a desk and incites the crowd. Really weird stuff.
Um Jerry Springer copied Wally George is why it remined you of Jerry.....WALLY WALLY WALLY was way before ... JERRY JERRY JERRY...see the similarities?
Wally really got put off by the slam dancing, if only he knew then, that those 'punks' were kids from broken homes and had parental abuse, and violence in their lives, and the whole reason they slammed was for therapy.
Yeah! They are from my home town though a bit older than me. Robert worked at a local guitar shop. I talked to him a few times but he was very busy there.
I worked next-door to where Oz Fox worked back in '80 - '81 before he was in Stryper. Nice guy and we jammed on guitars a few times. He was the first one who told me that Reagan got shot and the second one to tell me that John Lennon died (my dad was the first). The wall dividing where I worked and where he worked (both were warehouses) didn't reach the ceiling so we'd hear Oz screaming heavy metal lyrics while he was working. A few years later we ran into each other in La Mirada and was blown away when he told me he was lead guitarist for Stryper.
Wally was a great memory to me. Of whom I used to be. When I was in denial of my true inner self 20 years ago, I practically worshipped this guy on TV. It is not easy for me to watch him anymore now that I'm happily living the way I should have been.
Can anyone please tell me what song is that during the end credits? It isn't John Coleman's "World in Action", which they began using later that same year.

I'm not religious one bit, but their music and songs are awesome and they are nice guys.
Ozzy has repeatedly said that he never advocated Satan openly in their music. He has always said that he just makes music and people interpret it as the way they want to. And as for the whole "Prince of darkness" nickname that was given to him by the media. People just blow the music and the image out of proportion.
Black Sabbath the band was named after a Boris Karloff horror movie. The idea was that if people will pay to see scary movies, they will pay to listen to scary music. Some people saw the name and took it too seriously thinking "they must be devil worshipers". The band learned that that type of publicity sells records, and so the devil-worship rumors were born. Ozzy was never any more satanic than a Halloween costume.
