as a hockey player this blows me away. that you can take a whole windup and whack someone as hard as you want legally. and these dudes have way less gear than we do. this sport has my respect
having played a good amount of hockey I can tell you they both hurt but hockey slashes (if they miss your pads) are definitely worst. difference is you get slashed 10-20 times a game as an attackman in lacrosse.
I remember that last year, I was using a crappy stick and I hit a kid so hard with a slap check that I bent my stick at like a 30 degree angle. I still keep it as a trophy in my room.
To any new players/viewers watching this video. Watch some of Tucker Durkins highlights. He's not hitting this guy anywhere close to how hard he normally does.
Since the composite shaft is hollow, I’d be interested to see some stats on how hard that slap check would be using a 6’ long traditional wood stick. Also, wood sticks should be allowed in the pro game.
As a former O Middie who drew the LSM a lot, thats whole point. Slapping my free hand does nothing and makes it easier for me to run by you if I time your check
You can cross check in pretty much any league as long as it’s not high or the hands are not super far apart. Refs realize it’s pretty much impossible to play solid D without cross checking.
You can cross check but it's limited by equal force. If you are trying to push through them, you can't use any bar otherwise you will be called. But if you run with them and apply pressure with the bar. That's fine, it's called equal pressure

You cant do a whole wind up. Anything more than 180 degrees is a slash and will get a penalty.
bullfrog you can't do a full windup it has to seem "controlled" and you probably won't get called
As long as you make contact with the hand or stick it’s legal for most refs

AYYYYY we love sports science. smart move PLL!
I do this but my teammates say I need to go a little softer
tell them to lift some weights in the off season and it wont hurt so much.... assuming that your not actually just slashing them and being an asshole
@@willdykema people that go full try hard on teammates in practice are annoying

The scariest thing is. That 700 pounds of force can happen multiple times while ur holding the ball.

350stonewall you’d see broken bones. I agree that would be awesome
Surely it would still hurt even with a hollow stick. That defender is using a lot of force.
Do u want someone to die?
It makes me cringe watching that slap check
Is it legal in FIL rules for the shaft to hit the arm like that, even if the head hits the stick?
I remember this in a radio blog, it was at training camp

You can cross check in pretty much any league as long as it’s not high or the hands are not super far apart. Refs realize it’s pretty much impossible to play solid D without cross checking.
Its a grey area. Technically illegal but most refs wont call it if its in the front and not in the head
