I was playing it just today, that's such an underrated classic. I must say the 360 version (and I'm sure the PS3 as well) is very well done, with lots of options and great soundtrack. It might be based upon emulation but it looks like a lot of work went into it.
I played this at my local arcade last week and let me just say this game puts the "magic" in ma' magic sword...but seriously tho this game is pure art! love the monsters ect
There's no computer (excluding C64 and ZX Spectrum) and Mega Drive version of this game ((:[)), one of the underrated CAPCOM beat em up game about medieval during CPS era.
In a way i prefer the snes version. The arcade had some annoying sounds like that repetitive hhuuaaa on every attack & the sound of collecting the coins too was very loud & repetitive. Gets annoying
i agree, that shout after every attack not only is annoying but togheter with coins sound make it impossible to even hear the game music, when speaking of graphics and some other details arcade may be better (i always loved arcade black mage hood there) but it loses like 1 - 10 to snes in therms of SFX and music
@@jasonlee7816 Maybe, there was a 2 year gap between the 2. I think I was going into jr high when I played the arcade and bought it when around highschool. I only played the arcade a couple of times for about 5 minutes tops while at a Walmart. Probably one Capcom's budget titles. I can't remember when or how much I paid for it at the time.
Only two ports here.... I'd give the SNES port a higher rating than the modern port. Yes, I know you can choose the arcade soundtrack in the modern version, but the sound mixing is still pretty bad and still, I DON'T like the new soundtrack at all. I don't like the SNES soundtrack either, but it was one of Capcom's better CPS1 to SNES OSTs
Not the most sophisticated game for 1990 in the arcades. By the looks of it this one was not one of the more successful chapters in the franchise. Maybe that is the reason for the lack of ports.
@@jasonlee7816 Perhaps a little bit of all of them. There were already better titles from the franchise in the market and the copyright holders probably didn't want to dilute that. I never thought this was a particularly good game compared to some of the others.
I have to go with the SNES version for the simple fact that it's the only one that doesn't have the main character shouting, what sounds like, "BOO-YA", every other second.
the snes version even though it doesn't have some sound effects is an excellent port with a good soundtrack
Amiga, Genesis/Mega-Drive, Atari ST, TurboGrafx should’ve got ports (versions) of Magic Sword

Only ever played the snes game but man is it good. So simple, yet so fun. I love the mini cutscenes you get too.

i rented this game so much back in the day so i could've bought
Yes. definitely a good game for those old worst fun times
Crazy how much they reworked the soundtrack for the newest version
My Suggestion: Commando

Owned the SNES version. Feel the SNES version could've been port more closely to the arcade.
SNES cartridge media was expensive
The cost would been passed onto you
happy paying more for a better port???

Is the giant the only follower that says "thank you" instead of "thanks" like the others?

magic sword legendarryyyyyyyyy

i thought the lack of ports is (was) because of hardware limits, license fee, media storage limits/limitations

this should have remake but not in 3A price with EA DLC stuff
My Suggestion: Columns (SEGA)

Still no Doom versions comparison?come on man that game had enough ports for a quite long video.
To my fellow french : BOUYA !
The sfx voices are so ridiculous and irritating, more than those of Golden Axe.
The music in 360 version is horrible...
