Natural Reactions I never skip your blabbing. With most reactors I do because it’s usually just the “standardised” intro that’s always the same, but your “blabbing” is actual talking so it’s always different and actually part of the video rather than just “promotional footnotes”, so to speak.

I haven't skip either and i'm glad i didn't cause what you have to say was interesting!! Billie brings up a lot of feeling and may confuse us maybe but it's exactly the point, she's valuing LIFE so much by talking about death, depression, love, lonelness. I think that's why people who are happy gets sad, they empathized, and people who are sad or depressed gets happy cause it's like a therapy, cause it requires a lot of strengh to get in one. They can feel hope and support through her song! that's why music is therapeutic and I get why what you do can be therapeutic too.

"listen before I go " is one of the least self-glorifying suicide songs ever and perfectly sets up the finale of "i love you" and "goodbye."

This is my favorite song from Billie. Period. I have never felt so connected to a song in my life. I wish I had someone like Billie when I was young. I'm so glad young people, and I, have her now and know we aren't alone when we go to that dark place.

As someone who has a significant other with severe depression, I truly appreciate your monologue on this episode. I sometimes don't understand her and I have to remind myself that there are millions, if not billions that are in her position. She has fantastic help. Help that I can not provide (which is a very helpless feeling for me). I do what I can and she understands that, so it works for us, but I have to say it's hard at times. reminding me that she isn't alone and I'm not alone is the biggest help. Thank you.

This song is so underrated. Probably my favourite on the album because it's just so real. I find it interesting how Billie continues to say "sorry" throughout the song. It shows how trapped she truly feels and makes it seem like her situation is her fault. And even though she knows people care about her, it's not enough. And then she says "I'm not sorry" but finally ends by saying "sorry". She knows that people would be sad if she was gone, but she thinks it's for her own good. I know these feelings too well. I can never get through the song without crying.

You can feel her inner thoughts in this song, it's insane to listen to and so relatable for those of us that have had struggles with loving ourselves and others close to us. I appreciate the fact that you give every song you listen to an open mind. This song gives me chills too because it's so raw and a release for her because we all know our minds get too full at a certain point.

Billie created something so courageous, profound and beautiful with this song ... and now you did, too. Massive thanks for sharing! So the other day on RUclips, a cantankerous, sweary, 50 year old biker dude posted a 2 hrs 15 min reaction video to this album, having never listened to any of her music before. This track really got to him and he proceeded to tell a heart-wrenching story about his childhood. How his dad was a total asshat but it was ok because he would hang out with his uncle who loved him and was always pleased to spend time with him. But when he was just 16 his uncle took his own life ... and you could tell he'd spent much of his life since trying to deal with that. Brutal stuff. The next track "I love you" made him cry even more. For a while he seemed dumbfounded at how "this f***king 17-year-old kid!" as her called her had managed to destroy him in less than 45 minutes. But for the most part he loved that she had. Of course, she hadn't actually destroyed him at all. Far from it. Thanks again!

No one is always in the perfect mood, anyway, I love the channel and your silliness. I'm usually silly around friends too. YOU DO YOU, because you do it so well . lol I remember the days when I've felt like a waste of oxygen and music was the only thing to get my mind away from that. M:usic has been the one constant throughout my entire life, and i'm old. .( The first song I ever learned was Devil went down to Georgia, the second was Dottie West, Lesson in Leaving.) Music heals, soothes, creates bridges, and brings people together. even more incredible is the ability internet provides to bring people from all over the world here.

You are a ray of sunshine in my otherwise bleak existence. When I came here, you were new to RUclips. You're channel will stay with me. Not just for Billie reactions, but because of your personality and silliness. I appreciate all you've done thus far. And I cant wait to see where you go. I love the ideas we've tossed back and forth. This song is amazing. I think a lot of people don't understand why Billie's music help so much people and that makes me feel sad. I think when you deal with depression or anxiety or even sadness the worst thing is feeling alone. And I think Billie's music and especially that one help because she just say " You're not alone, I understand you". It's also a way for people to understand what they feel and just heal. She is amazing she deserves everything that she have now ❤️❤️

ok the thing about the last three songs she said in a small interview, I can't find it. but basically she said she hated the album to just end abruptly, so it's like a conversation and at the end it's like, oh, listen, before I go. I love you, ... goodbye. like talking with someone. and she added that it was like dedicated to "a friend"( unofficially) it was just a fun fact and something I love about the album.

Thanks for the shout-out, thank you for the thoughts about these issues many of us have experienced, and also this reaction :-)
This is probably the song from Billie where her depression and suicidal ideation were most obvious. The first version of Everything I Wanted would have been at the same level, but the published version was softened by Finneas's chorus. Both of those songs were effectively meant to be her suicide notes (in actuality, not just metaphorically), and I suspect both based on the same episode in a Berlin hotel on tour. Billie's mum Maggie was very scared when she first heard Listen Before I Go, she knew it wasn't just role play, but actually where Billie was at the time. At a personal level it hits hard (like many of her songs do). It reminds me of many hours spent at an open 12th floor window, looking at the potential solution below (30 years ago, I should point out, it's not where I am now). Listening to her stuff is a way of accepting and defusing those feelings.
One thing - regarding Paula's comment, this isn't the last track on the album. Look at the titles of the last 3 tracks, read together the 3 titles are "Listen Before I go, I love you, Goodbye". I think it was intended to be a mini suicide note on it's own.
It's so good to see her happier now, the trouble with depression is that you can never imagine it getting better, only worse (even though in reality it does eventually get better).

Everything I wanted was written about a reoccuring nightmare she had for more than a month about suicide in early 2019. Finneas her brother was always there for her. At first finneas did not like the idea of this song and did not want her to do the song. The song is about conquering suicidal thoughts and depending and trusting your loved ones to be there for you.

I appreciate the talk at the beginning and you sharing part of your story. i bet it’s kinda scary being vulnerable on the internet so i respect you even more for sharing with us. I can relate in so many levels. I always feel dramatic saying that a song or an artist saved my life, but in quite a few instances it’s completely true.
one of my favorite tøp lyrics is “if it wasn’t for the music I don’t know how I would’ve fought this” from Lane Boy. I even made a painting with those lyrics.
anyways thank you for trusting us & it’s really nice to hear someone else validate feelings that I have as well 💗 sending virtual hugs!

One of my favourite details of their lyricism and writing style, which is actually one of the first things I noticed about them back when I discovered Billie, is that they do these small lyrical variations. It’s actually why I love ilomilo so much because it’s so clever and not the “obvious” way a rhyme tends to go so you’re caught off guard in the most pleasantly giddyfying (not a word but ya know what I mean) way. Like in bellyache (where’s my mind - I don’t mind) for example!

  • @nomadine85
    @nomadine85 4 года назад +2

I really appreciate your talk at the beginning and it’s okay to be nervous and not super confident or have to look at notes and stuff. If anything, most people would, and if it’s real, then people will get it. Also wanted to mention someone who reacted to this song once (unfortunately I don’t remember who, but it was a musician or producer) said that the bass (which you mention) is specifically timed to punch you in the heart with the specific word before it, like hitting it home. And since hearing him say that I can’t unhear it and wow.

And thanks with the respect with which you have spoken about depression, it is a really serious problem, I have relatives who live it and I cannot put myself in his place, but I know that it is very difficult, that is why I was so angry with the comments that Billie was continually being faked depression and wanted to get attention blabla ...
I really love this song and it's preferable with headphones because

The song is not about suicide but feelings and emotional turmoil around suicidal thoughts. Processing them through one's own terms is the first step towards recovery. It takes guts to sing honestly about such emotions, which is what another great singer, Bono, said in that note to Billie and Finneas.

The Steve Jobs Theatre session I would suggest watching the entire thing. Not just specific songs, the staging is freaking beautiful. Oh, and definitely listen to the entire album in the correct order from start to finish (when walking Ralph or something which means no pausing) because that’s a whole different experience as well. This song isn’t how she finishes the album by the way - there are two more songs. She ends it with a medley which has one line from each song of the album backwards. So brilliant, and kind of like remembering bits of dreams when blurrily waking up.

I love your introspective reaction... not a lot of these reactions focus on the lyrics and what they mean

    Hi!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and emotions! 👍 No need to apologize for the "blabbing"!
As you already know, Billie can take you on any emotional ride, especially the dark and painful ones, probably because of her own struggles with mental health.
"Listen before I go" always makes me cry - and it gets "worse" with the following track "I love you".
In an interview last year at the Grammy museum, she revealed, how much comments in the internet really got to her, when she read that she's just fake-depressed - that one sentence
in the interview ("bathroom floor", at about 38:50) really hit me in the stomach and made me cry like a baby.

The whole thing is worth watching, it adds another piece to the puzzle of her personality.
Keep up the good work here, Andrew!

Right on Drew, the hard thing to get through to all of us that have been in this situation, is simply that it will pass and we're not alone. That's easy to say obviously but not easy to do. You cannot command someone to feel better. It takes a lot of work. I work in addiction and psyche dual diagnosis, I tell my guys to try to keep one thought during a dark patch, reach out before you react...

Second comment of the day lmaoo. The videos of the Steve Jobs concert seem incredible to me, I literally recommend all the songs, I love the songs in acoustics. And also Billie and Finneas did a live the other day to help small businesses, it's very long, but if you want you can react to a song that Finneas made
while Billie made the harmonies that doesn't happen much lmao. It's "Break my heart again", in case you haven't seen the live.
I think they sang quite well. There is a video on Yt where he compiles all the songs they sang without the rest of the live show in case you are interested hehe
"Break my heart again" Verizon livestream or this link for the video of all the songs if you want to see them. ruclips.net/video/kl1Jhw10bpA/видео.html

This is the only Billie Eilish song I don't like. I could relate to it in times past. I would have kept this song in my scrapbook and not put it on the album nor performed it. It may have been therapeutic for her to write at the time. I'd be afraid somebody would think suicide is ok by hearing this song.

you should react to Isaac Dunbar’s EP called “Isaacs insects” it’s kinda like Billie Eilish but more pop and the last song on it is really beautiful and emotional.

Instead of worrying about mister and or misses gender pronouns just say the persons name or say something gender neutral like idk viewer or commenter or just don't over think it's not so much a big deal until people start constantly apologizing and acting like their walking on eggshells just makes it weirder lmao and this is only my opinion though also I am Transgender not that changes anything lol also you should check out "Anything Like Me" by Poppy

That is so hilarious/strange that you are saying this right now. I just finished editing another video and I was wondering if I was allowed to stop apologizing for this now! Lol I definitely need to remember to just say them or whatever. I was literally JUST thinking about this.
