I had this when i was 11 and that was in the 70s. Im 53 now and the only thing i have is some limited range of motion and when i walk for a very long time i get really sore and i have to find a place to sit for a few minutes. Some days it feels like i could run a marathon and others i have a very sore and uncomfortable day. I was also in Tae Kwon Do as a kid. Thats really how i figured out i had this. It was also a big part of my rehab when i went back.

I was diagnosed with perthe's disease when I was 5 and it hurts like hell if you move in the wrong way. I was recommended that through my lower school years that I just live like normal but don't run and go swimming during PE lessons but everyone except one doctor disagreed, turns out that one guy was right and the bone just naturally grew back to normal after 3 or 4 years and now it's very rare that it causes any problems(about 6 years since last incident :D)

I was four when they put my leg in a sling so I would not walk on it. in two years it completely healed. I became very active in sports from then on without problems. that was in late 50's and in early stages of determining treatment

"The only way your going to get out of it, is through excersize." Thanks Andy. I'm Richie. Australia. Frustrated by being tired out, very quickly. Glad to give my honest, positive feedback. Here goes... Age 7 - Perthes. THR nov 2016. Prior knees meniscus tears.. Workers C, pay out/work rehab schedule. Laying in bed, today.. Tired. Frustrated. Mortgage, single guy, out of work. Cash is short, cut my bills, cut out physio. Frustrated to anger over your video. WELL DONE FOR GETTING ME OUT OF BED, SHARING TRUTH ABOUT RE-LEARNING GAINING BACK FUNCTIONING. SAD, YET
    ANGRY ENOUGH TO keep going.

Do you mind if I ask you what line of work you're in ( if you can work ) ? I'm looking for a suitable job now, had to leave my previous job due to pain issues.

How do I contact a specialist in calve legg perthes, as a 52 year old Black male? The pain has become more intense and intolerable over recent years. Was diagnosed with the disease at around 10 years old.

You can google specialists in you area. I don’t think being a black man, you’d contact them any differently as if you are another skin color 😆😆

+SKILLZ HAK I am hoping to get my left hip done in July this year. Sounds similar. Had perthes as a child, have had a steady deterioration for the last ten years to the point were it has become debilitating and extremely painfull. unusual gait and 2cm leg length discrepancy. Are you still happy with your outcome.
