I remember seeing interview once that he was very excited to find out he was going to be working with Michaels at Wrestlemania 12. I’ve always thought it was incredible just how great of matches the two of them put on together despite the personal heat between them
I stopped watching wrestling back in the 80s but I love the stories these guys tell. As someone who toured the U.S. in vans with punk rock and metal bands in the late 80s and early 90s, I can relate to a lot of their road stories. I think his performances in the WWF would have been up there with the guys I mentioned had Owen not broken his neck; his moveset was significantly hampered by that and he became very limited in the ring. His character work was obviously excellent but this is a conversation about _in-ring_ performers.

In their Mania match the slight execution errors were on Kurt tbh. It was still a 5-star classic. But no one out performed Shawn. He and Bret were magic.
