I often get that question, I haven't done a video about it as it really depends on Engineer and State but a few things are required no matter how so yes maybe I should put something together.
Lithium batteries under the bonnet? No good they won't last. I would love to see you use that setup in a hard winching application. No DC-DC charger? Then how do you charge? certainly wont be charging to full capacity. You need to re look at this system of yours.
all depends on the Lithium, the are used in house batteries and power dryer, washing machines etc. High Current applications should be no problem for Lithium all depends on the BMS and DCS Lithium is rated for high current draw. It's charged from the alternator much faster charging than DCDC. Have seen plenty of regular batteries go in extrem winching as well so risk is always there in theory Lithium is better for it.
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV I am very skeptical of your set up for two reasons; 1) Lithium batteries are not recommended for the engine bay due to the high temperatures; 2) Lithium batteries should not be charged directly from the alternator as a full charge will not be achieved, but this depends on the alternator type being used. Engine bay is a different area compared to household machinery, so you can’t compare. Can you give a life expectancy on the engine bay mounted Lithium batteries?
@@gotoylc 1. The DCS battery is recommended for the engine bay (though it will reduce the lifespan) 2. why not? I have my High Output alternator changed so that my max voltage is 13.8v so my batteries will stay at around 99% but will last longer. I compare the current draw does not matter much if in household or engine bay. ruclips.net/video/jKg8wxDUBV0/видео.html but it's only a year ask me in 3 years or so and i cann tell you of it worked so far no issues.
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV. 1) what is the lifespan. 2) what is the model of the alternator you are using? I do not think you will be having full capacity charge. You are in the process of testing these batteries.
@@gotoylc 1. Lifespan we will see but should be around 5 years plus, I first had an M2k 270a Alternator but now changed to a Rapid Power completely sealed 200a alternator with voltage limited to 13.85v which is around 98% of the battery, and yes the battery geats charged to 13.85v which now also is the float charge so should be all good but time will tell. Yes testing the batteries but did a lot of research beforehand

@@AlloffroadAu Hay Stefan, interesting build! WOW 4t? That's crazy heavy, mate. Have you any future plans to shed some weight? You would be amazed at how much better your Cruiser would handle at say around 3.5t . Not sure why your gear is so heavy on these big trips? I have similar 100series that tops out at 3.55t with two passengers and all our gear for big trips, food, 70ltr water, 270lt fuel, only one spare tyre but have repair kit, tube and tyre levers ect. Only need one seat in the back so removed the two behind driver seat, saves about 50+kgs, removed my draw system and fridge slide, saves about 100kgs or more, plastic tubs works better than draw systems for us anyway, also only need 1 awning, a set of maxtrax and swags on roof, no jerry's needed as have enough with on- board fuel and water. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
@@SteveBurns80 I usually max at 3.9t and that's with full fuel and water so goes down quickly. As always, thanks for the great reviews. Absolutely inspirational build and love your honest review especially for Icon suspension which I was about to buy but after discussed with you and read his google reviews, I changed my mind and ran away. Engine tuning, which is very common these days but nobody talks about the troubles. People need to know about that and don't throw away their hard earning money to these shit kind of business who don't stand behind their products and just being greedy.
It's interesting to hear about your problems with the gearbox, the V6 Hilux uses the same box and I've seen them get tuned and boosted all the way up to 400kw and nearly 700nm, yet I've never heard of any issues with the gearbox, other than with aftermarket valve bodies.
not sure mate doubt it's same gearbox, as far as I know it can be done but a lot of effort needs to be spend on the custom tune to match the shift points and because it's not a recent engine I think no one want's to spend the time... The people should just not take the jobs then.
I would love to know what your 105 has cost you! Don’t get me wrong it’s awesome, but big $$$$ have been spent, which isn’t realistic for most owners but makes great video content, which I guess is what it’s all about in your case.
hm, the RUclips Channel is a hobby which cost me money every month so not sure why spending big money on a build for that would make any sense, I worked hard all my life and now being retired I build a vehicle to serve the purposed to explorer Australia and doing this I don't want to be limited by reliability or capability what you see is the outcome nothing more nothing less.

@@AlloffroadAu Thanks for the response, reason for asking is that I purchased the same tank for my 80 and I find it pretty low. Went through some of your videos but can't find some good footage of your 105 going through more technical terrain with the tank already in place.
@@jorgesanchex6164 have a look at the Tasmania Series I think I had the Tank already in there especially up to Lake Cumberland.
Howmany kms did your lc have when you purchased it? Which year model is it , thanks
all specs are in original build video ruclips.net/video/jvP4krrB_8U/видео.html
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV will do thanks
Stefan great vid mate
How do you go with glare off bonnet with that light bar thinking of doing the same
it's not to bad a little bit further back would be better but no space under my roof rack
Yikes on the tuning gripes. I'm about to get a HDFTE... definitely glad it's manual haha.
Apprecaite the transperency with your experiences mate. I will stop recommending that slinky gear!
Glad to help!
Is the light bar on the roof rack legal in NSW?
Depends on the cop who books you
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV Not the right answer but has some truth in it.
have you found any difference between the KM2 and KM3'S.........
good question, not really KM3 are a little heavier so supposedly are a bit stronger but overall I'm as happy with KM3 as I was with my 5 sets of KM2
@@AlloffroadAu KM2's for my 80 then, thanks mate !
Hey man I got a questions
1. Is getting a 1993 hilux a good idea for first car
2. What mods could I get for a 5,000$ dollar budget or less
3. Why so many antennas
4. What driving lights do u recommend
5. Should I get a cheap UHF radio or expensive one
Sorry for so many questions I wanna get some ideas and stuff and I’m not looking for fancy things but sorry for these questions
Wow some interesting challenges there, seemed to have isde stage 1 and no link, where can we find Rampt Customs, do they have a website contact etc, tried a quick google not showing much.
Cheers 🤙
hold off with Rampt custom just received the Diff housings and they are not straight
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV cheers, will wait to here on your review, was just interested in what you showed so far, cheers for that though appreciate your honest feedback on reviews🤙
Hi mate,
just wondering if you engineered for your lift and tyres?
Yes sure are mate
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV what as the process mate? Would you be able to do a video on what it involved, what it cost and what components you used? Sorry for the hassle just like to keep my vehicles legal is all. Cheers mate. Best 105 I have ever seen by a country mile too, well done.
I often get that question, I haven't done a video about it as it really depends on Engineer and State but a few things are required no matter how so yes maybe I should put something together.
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV I’ll also second that. Would love a video in that.
Was the youtube subscriber who alerted you about DCS, me?
I can't remember mate get some many messages, but two people in a short distance apart suggested DCS and made me look in to them.
@@AlloffroadAu ahh, I'll still claim it :) Still the best thing I've ever done to the 4x4!
Excellent,!!!
Many thanks!
Stephan, why not try asking the guys at wholesale autos bout the gearbox?
Yes spoke with them at the time as Safari blamed it on the Heavy Duty valve body,
@@AlloffroadAu how unfortunate, but keep the content coming stephan, will be looking forward to your next video👌
Always like your videos. Question, why don't you use a manual trans?
that opens a can of worms lol, there are pro's and cons for both and my 110 defender was a manual but overall I prefer auto for touring
G'day stefan, wondering what lift and tyres you are running?
3.5” lift BFG KM3 315/75/16
I know your pain with Just Autos! Had a nightmare experience as well with 3 trips there and they still didn’t do stuff they said they did.
Oh so I’m not the only one good to know
I spoke out on page they are highly regarded on and got ridiculed. Had a few people private message me saying I wasn’t the only one. So join the club haha. The nature of their work makes it hard for us customers to check and be sure they’ve done what they said...
yea to many fan boys, same with the Icon Distributor unfortunately that enables companies to get away with this stuff
That’s exactly it.
On the other hand Paul from DCS has been great to deal with. Just waiting on my replacement bms so the Bluetooth works properly 😂
ok you opened battery and replace BMS? not a bad idea
Who Did your GVM upgrade?
a engineer I know but he asked me not to name hims as he works in the mines now and has no time
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV can you recommend someone to do a gvm upgrade in NSW.
What's the fuel economy on that??
around 14.5l average
Do you have a GVM upgrade ? If not how far overweight are you ?
But fantastic vid love it mate
4.2t GVM upgrade but fully loaded incl water and fuel I’m just shy of 4t
Only way to shed more weight would be removing second Jerry can carry and I'm thinking of changing the drawer system. Because Suspension and everything is set up for it it does handle pretty much the same as with 3.5t
what offset rims do you use ?
neg 25 from memory
How is 266l possible if you replaced your main tank with 140l?
Yep
126 aux and 140 main = 266l
AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV that’s impressive. Ta.
Now the only mod that is left, is to weld wings to it and your car will start flying.
chasing diesel power .. not all diesels have a happy ending :C
Wow just wow. Are you asking for closure? Omg
nop
Not suprised the coils broke. They looked inherently weak, with their shape and size
@@AlloffroadAu it's the 5sp A750F, with a gated shift.
Super cool.🤑🤑🤑
thank you
This video aged well considering the shit fight with DCS going on right now 😮😂
I like the 100, but its expensive to have. So I had done my hilux. And a BJ40 coming soon, fully build ultimate offroad vehicle. Check it out on my channel.
Daim that thing cost you more than the 3 land rovers 🙃
Nop with the axles has caught up with 110 Tourer
Mate that vehicle is not a 105 it a 100 series GLX. The 105 has barn doors at back not a tailgate and has the 1HZ engine.
funny you, don't you think I know what vehicle I drive? The 100 series is independent front not solid axle.
@@AlloffroadAu I have a 105, barn doors at back 1HZ engine, seats three in front and three in back. The 105 is effectively an 80 series with a modified 100 series body. The 105 was made in response to Australian needs some time after the 100 series release in 1998. Cheers
I think the POV pack comes with Barn doors the GLX definitely not as you can see on my vehicle.
@@AlloffroadAu Standard and RV models come with solid axle up front, the rest have IFS. What is written on your compliance plate? Cheers

I have a 2002 GXL hzj105 with lift up window and tailgate. Maybe it's a limited edition 😜
wow..bet there were a few f bombs dropped during your engine tuning!!!
Privately yes .... it was quite disappointing
@@AlloffroadAu ...I can totally understand..
Too many adds
hundreds of hours of unpaid work in the video not to mention the money it cost me to build it and test stuff + the 8 years of experience building stuff like this all provided to you for free.... (adds frequency is determined by RUclips btw. not by me)
For some reason, I didn't see any ads when I was playing it... I really hope Stephan... you still get some financial benefit from me viewing the video.
