As a die hard Buckeye I didn't appreciate his coaching until we played them. His situational sideline coaching was impressive to me. Especially his in the moment awareness. His interview going into halftime was exactly on point. His QB almost turned the ball over jn the final seconds of the first half which would have completely changed the outcome of that game. He had a quick conversation with the QB going off the field, then in the interview mentioned they would need him to win it. As much of the country was somewhat surprised at the battle Georgia was in, he fully understood the situation, and what it would take to win it. I'll never forget in that moment thinking damn. This dude knows how to keep us to knock them off. Kinda of a buzz kill for me. I needed a couple swigs from my chalis to get my momentum back. Turned out to be exactly what happened

What really saved UGA in that game, to your point, was Kirby’s time out call on the fake punt. Without that, the Buckeyes win the game. Granted, his team in the box saw it but he didn’t have to make the call. With teams this evenly matched it really does come down to one call/one play.

Regardless of what happens in the future we did something I've waited on for over 40 years and did it back-to-back. Everything else is just house money from here on out. Eventually we'll lose to a rival and eventually they'll crawl out of their holes and go back to their respected selves but for the rest of my life, it's all house money.

I agree with everything you said, except the part that if UGA played OSU ten times Ohio State would win 9 of them. Ohio State is the one that played out of their minds and had their best game of the season. Uga had a better team the entire year and better roster. That was Stroud’s best game and the only game he really used his legs.

    • @ThemDawgsIsHellDontThey

Exactly. UGA outgained them, turned the ball over in their own territory to give OSU a easy TD, and missed 2 easy FGs.

Great points, and I’m thinking that more folks are going to start realizing that undefeated seasons are likely to become more rare with the changes. Y’all have enough talent to be the top team, and you’re definitely going to be the favorite going to Austin and into Tuscaloosa. That adds to the stress and I’m sure Coach Smart will do his best to have y’all ready. Obviously I hope we win, but the point is that y’all are certainly capable of pulling off the perfect season and winning it all. You just have to fight through every team that will have you squarely in their sights.

There are delusional and even obnoxious fans in every fan base unfortunately. I’m not sure why anyone would think that Georgia would suddenly drop off. I don’t see that happening. Coach Smart helped us in Tuscaloosa and learned a great deal from Coach Saban. In turn he’s built the foundation and has his own version of the process going well in Athens. Is it good enough to win 5 more national championships ? That remains to be seen but the program is in great shape regardless. As to whether or not Alabama’s shadow looms over UGA as a program it’s easy to see where someone will look at SEC Championships or National Championships and say you are until you have more. Does that mean that Georgia isn’t good ? I don’t think so. Certainly doesn’t change the likelihood of y’all being #1 when the season starts right ?

As far as the Ohio State game goes… i don’t think they win 9/10 playing their “A Game”… yes Ohio State did play their best game of the year there but Georgia did not. The missed read on Georgias first drive that would have been a TD by McIntosh, the missed field goal right after to keep Georgia at 0 (lost momentum and points), the false start by the running back for Ohio State that they called offsides on Georgia making it a 1st down instead of 3rd and 7 (Ohio Scored on this drive from it), the fumble that Ringo caused that rolled forward 10 yards and out of bounds so Georgia couldn’t recover it (extra yards for Ohio State and a momentum changer lost for Georgia), the other field goal Georgia missed (more lost momentum and points), the numerous missed holding calls on Ohio State (literally every other play, just watch the tape), the “targeting” call that wasn’t targeting but they spent all that time to review it and didn’t even notice the illegal touching by MHJ when he ran out of the back of the endzone and was the first one to touch the ball (should have been a flag on him but it wasn’t)… Bennetts interception when McIntosh ran a “out and up” instead of the slant (more lost momentum and a major turnover), McIntosh tripping on his huge run (more lost momentum), the fake punt where Ohio State had 12 men on the field (luckily Smart called a timeout so it didn’t count but no flag was coming out), the time that was allowed to set up for the final field goal that Ruggles missed (plenty)… literally EVERYTHING went Ohio States way the entire night. They played their best game of the season, took their hardest swings and left everything they had on that field, with everything on the line and everything to prove to College Football, one of CJ Strouds best games of the season in a game they weren’t supposed to be in but were given a second chance at glory because all the cards fell exactly how they needed to.... and they still lost 😐 if Georgia doesn’t make the silly mistakes they did in the “9/10” assumption.. Georgia wins “9/10”. Basically of both teams were on their “A Game”, Georgia wins 90% of the time.

Funny to see someone calling for Bama to do well when so many people are calling for a drop off.
I definitely think Coach Smart inherited a winning program from Coach Richt, but he instilled his own process and did what he knew he’d need to do for the long haul. He didn’t win because Coach Richt had won, he won because he had a great plan. Coach DeBoer has shown that he’s capable of a great plan as well and in doing well with a lot less talent. That SHOULD translate to Bama doing well since he’s now got more talent on his team than he’s ever had before, but things don’t always happen the way we expect them to so I guess we’ll all have things we can look forward to seeing this coming season. They don't have a weak SEC East to run through anymore either. The talent pool is as balanced as ever and any UGA fan that thinks they're going on a Bama run is completely delusional. Kirby Smart is not that great of a coach, especially with clock and 4th down management. He is 1-5 vs Saban, and without a do-over (minus 2 best Bama receivers) in the NC game, after getting completely curb stomped in the SECCG, would be 0-6. And that is the best coach in CFB? Please! To be the man you gotta beat the man, and he couldn't even beat Saban's worst team ever last year. Doing it 1 out of 6 tries is pathetic for someone who Josh is on here praising week in and out. Now it's just a celebration that the old man finally left, and their parting gift is the hardest schedule in the country lol. Maybe they can finally prove they're the best this year by actually playing quality opponents in the season and winning the battle of attrition. That Streak is meaningless and should come with a cute little asterisk, because of SEC scheduling gave yall a pass on all the real power teams this past decade. That’s why y’all’s schedule was ranked in the 40s last year.

Everyone keeps saying how Saban is retired, he is still operating in that facility, his input is still being use in Alabama. Why you think Alabama fans are not worried about this coming year. Alabamos still going to be Alabama, as a UGA fan we have to take it, not given but take it. GO DAWGS

“Operating in the facility” and being a HC are totally different things. You think DeBour would take a HC job just to work under Saban? Bama fans need to stick to one or the other: either Saban was the goat or Bama could be a dynasty with anyone.

Georgia isnt winning anything until they send Mike Bobo packing. He has poor character been fired from every school he's worked. He's made more money on contract buyouts than salary. 10 times last year Georgia scored below the Vegas UNDER 10 times. Mike Bobo has never delivered on any promise his employers have expected. Hes never won a title as a player or a coach. Cant or wont perform in the clutch spends half of every game running rec league fullback runs. He had Brock Bowers Carson Beck and Ladd Mconken yet Tennessee's Milton scored more touchdowns. Mike Bobo is a lockerroom cancer , his teams always contact Lyme disease. He debilitates every place he goes. So no titles for Georgia with Bobo. No matter how much talent he gets...never won a title
