I think this video, and the other Popol Vuh video you made about 5 years ago, are the only (or close to it) videos about this music that I've seen here on RUclips. Their music really enhances the films of Herzog. And they've had like 20 albums or so. But very few people talk about them. Thanks, Edward.
Well, I count myself as a fan. My story is back around 1975 I visited a friend of a friend who had this collection of German albums. Among them was Popol Vuh. After hearing some I started looking for them and I eventually collected probably 10 albums. Only one you showed in this video I have on original vinyl. The first one you showed I have on CD. These boxsets look good and they would fill some gaps. My favorite Herzog movies are Aguirre The Wrath Of God and Fitzcarraldo. I probably spelled that wrong. One R or two?
Hello! That is awesome. Sounds like you have a great collection. I do have some their albums on CD too in which I don't mind having on compact disk. I need to watch Herzog movies. I have the soundtrack to Fitzcarraldo on CD. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great rest of the week.
LOVE Popol Vuh. You should see Herzog's version of Nosferatu if you can. It's a version of the Dracula story with Klaus Kinski as the vampire. Amazing spooky, dreamlike atmospheres, and of course Popol Vuh's music.
Hi Michael, Thanks for the recommendation. I will check out Herzog's version of Nosferatu. I love the old silent black and white movie. You can't go wrong with music by Popol Vuh's music. Have a great rest of the week.
I agree 100%, Michael. That opening scene.....and that haunting plague scene with the Zinskaro song being sung by the choir.....the whole movie is a masterpiece, expertly done by all. They actually shot it twice, once in German and once in English (not merely dubbed, but actually shot in English). Bruno Ganz is amazing as was Kinski. Popol Vuh also did a great job on another Herzog masterpiece, Aguirre The Wrath of God.

Popol Vuh rules, Ed. Play it loud, play it proud!
It’s a nice set Edward. Glad to see you got a copy.
Hello Jeff, I agree it is a nice set. I love everything about it. Have a great rest of the week.
