Ah, this was my song when my ex dumped me November of 2009. I'm over him now. I've actually been with someone else for 10 years now. But hearing this song again after so long gives me this weird, sad feeling. I don't miss my ex. I guess this song just reminds me of all the pain I felt then. Thank God I got through it. 😊

I was just looking for the original 'Everybody Knows' by Leonard Cohen and found this and was maybe in a bad mood thusly plus I am thinking about our human brethren's of Syrian backgrounds troubles and maybe that is making me irritable as well. I come from a very large and wealthy country and my nation and it's government is dragging it's ass right now in terms of helping people. We can't do everything, but we can do a lot more.
It's not *bad*, this song, it's just...I find the arrangements contrived and cliche. If you like heartbreak songs I'd suggest: Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division, anything by the Magnetic Fields, especially "Either You Don't Love Me Or I Don't Love You" , Leadbelly's 'Careless Love' (actually the whole album 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night' is brilliant, Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box' or 'Polly', Duffy's 'Warwick Avenue', Leonard Cohen's 'This Waltz", Gordon Lightfoot's "If you could read my mind" and lastly Al Jareau's "Never Explain Love".
This was the first John Legend song I ever heard. I also think it's my favorite and I don't know why. It means a lot for different reasons. ❤
