  • A few years ago, not many more than we imagine, we lived in a society where when things were old they were taken care of and if they broke, they were fixed. Love in the rain is something that is usually enjoyed by two, like umbrellas when the downpour and we are together.
But the new winds of change did something to our customs and what used to be of good quality is now being broken. Reflections in the streets of Malta.

The duration of marriages, friendships, belonging to a group or a place were put in check with the winds of change.
On the streets of Valletta, the capital of Malta, it is not so much the rain, which tends to unite, as the wind, that breaks the umbrellas and transforms them into disposable ones.
The love of these streets like any other is not in doubt, what is in doubt is the company we have in our hands.
The shine of the wet stones that makes slippery what was firm before, the darkness of the sky in what was once the sun, a world as not very sensual as it was said a few years ago.
In the exotic streets of Malta, a bridge between an Arab world and a European one, between Africa and the West is the Mediterranean, wanting to take over in the form of drops of what little we have left of that summer.
The slow step, the firm gaze, the meeting of the eyes and the complacent smiles. Everything is now faster, in a hurry, you have to get to your destination before getting wet, before the puddles.
So love in the rain is a process, a simple way to get to the other side. But which other side?
Savoring what the road puts us in our path, going up and down the slopes with the same walking slowly, hugging, listening, having by side.
Are umbrellas friends or enemies of love? We are leaving them one by one discarded, in a garbage can, forgotten. What would life and love be like without an umbrella? Without so much fear of being discarded?
The afternoon became deep again, cooler, and we fell into the streets of Malta drenched in memories.
The oldest, the elderly, frown. Where do we end up on this bloody road to somewhere?
