You are the best historian I have EVER heard. No exaggeration. You provide clear, intelligible historical information, while at the same time providing entertaining banter and humor, which keeps the listener interested even through otherwise dry sections. Excellent job, Thersites, and I know you will have a long and prosperous career! Roma Invicta!

6th century A.D.? A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.

Good video, in my opinion Liberius had an interesting life, it's such a shame that he's overlooked by many. It would be great if you make a video about Majorian

This is a great way to showcase the continuation of roman culture and institutions after the fall of the western empire!
I can't help but wonder what might have happened if Justinian chose to restore the Western Empire given that he had Italy and Africa

Looks like Liberius' family were rapidly gaining status during his early life.
Perhaps they were good at getting along with Goths.

I find it interesting that Liberius did not try and déposé the Ostrogoths in an attempt to make himself western Roman emperor, he seemed very capable and well liked by both Romans and Ostrogoths to a degree. He may have been able to raise an army of Ethnic Roman’s, as well as Frankish or Burgundian mercenaries in order to overthrow Theodoric

He patronized people who said he was great. Also, Ostrogothic Italy was probably the most prosperous of the post-Roman kingdoms in the West, so he could claim to bring peace and prosperity.

@@ThersitestheHistorianI agree completely! The Ostrogothic Kingdom can even be considered an improvement over the later years of the Western Roman Empire!
