    You guys listen to everybody and get the best out of every coach and what works for you, so..here is my 2 cents: BEFORE GAME TIME, I WOULDN'T WORK ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN MY EVERYDAY HITTING APPROACH PLUS ANY STRATEGY SPECIFIC FOR THAT GAME DEPENDING ON THE PITCHER. MECHANICS ARE TO WORK ON AT PRACTICE.

    Anyone remember how we had to get so close to the T, that is was impossible to hit the ball and we just had make a completely different stance to hit properly

    If you notice he’s nearly getting to contact without his hands. This is a hip drill. Not a hands drill. If you want to work with little kids don’t talk about using hands. They will be too half heavy in the swing and everything from the hips and below will be playing catch up.

      Dude..... i was SCREAMING this in my head the entire time. You say "hands" to a younger player, you seriously risk screwing up kid's idea of what actually powers the swing of the bat. The hips fire first and everything else follows. The hands should only be guiding the barrel up or down to meet the ball

      It’s too much instruction. Just tell her to be athletic and comfortable and swing hard. If they look like an idiot make minor corrections

    Should have probably shown your body when taking a swing to accurately demonstrate.

    Don't worry about inside the baseball. You can see the ball flight, it's a weak slice flight. It's not driven at all, it's a cut shot that won't get good travel. It'll hold up and be caught. I wish I could go back in time 10 years and not tell my kid "inside the baseball". Worst thing ever

      What would you say instead?

    • @tractorback76
      @tractorback76 Год назад +1

      I get why they say that because they want kids to not come around the ball. That said, what I would work on 100% is timing the ball. If you're impeccable on timing pitches you can swing however the hell you want. It's like I heard the other day on a golf broadcast, it's called Golf and not swing. Plenty of baseball players have good swings and yet can't hit shit. I gave up on my kids swing at 14 and we worked on contact point over the plate and timing. Results were him hitting like .750 for the summer season. He said it was almost boring how easy it became to hit the ball. And at that point he could almost pick where he wanted to hit it. He gave up on the mechanics and just started to swing.
