  • Daniel Cho started playing the violin at five-years old. He had many interests growing up, but playing the violin eventually brought him to the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
"Houston and Rice University and Shepherd School really had this fantastic balance of both music and academics that really drew me in where I was like, look, I'm going to be at this world-class top-tier conservatory that is incredibly insightful in the advice that it gives to his students. And the opportunities that it gives, and every single little element of effort that the Shepherd School people put into the people that come there. But on top of that, I'm also going to be at this university that is known worldwide for their caliber of academics, for where they put their students out into the world and the impact that they make on the communities around them. And that was something that also excited me, this synergy between my music and my academics and just seeing where I could take that as a musician and an artist," he said.
