hey al, maybe you can do a video going over a miata 5 or 6 speed transmissions while it is out of the car, like changing seals and things to look for. Thanks for the videos keep it up brother!
I did for a really long time. But then I found out that what I was seeing was not from the valve cover, it was squeeze out from the camshaft cap. When you seal the cam cap with silicon some oozes out and you put the valve cover on. It doesn't hurt to seal those corners, I just skip it now and still have no leaks.
Hey Al! I have two questions. 1) Did you ever put this on the dyno or find out how much power it made? 2) How do you clean your parts? You mentioned cleaning the oil pan and thermostat housing among other things, and they both look spotless! Do you use a parts cleaner cabinet, use brake clean and a rag, scotch brite and some elbow grease, etc???
Al I’m reading every single forum out there and also bought the book from advanced auto, and every forum I’m reading says a pro built motor for about 8grand says it’s 125hp roughly. I feel extremely confident in the building of my motor if I do it myself with this series to help, I just gotta know what to tell the machine shop for the cylinders and the head on what’s allowed? How are we stretching the power to get a “pro built” engine?
Now thats the question right there. Most of the power is made from the head. selecting a place to take it to will determine if you are mid pack or up front. I know Drago sells some great heads as well as a local guy here in Sac Mike Hagg. Please keep in mind you will get what you pay for. If you get torn down and found with a cheater head, they will all point at you as you walk by.
@@aracing that makes total sense, I’ve seen Drago name on a lot of forums, but I’m trying to find out what’s allowed because I don’t want to be non compliant 😅 I’ve read the rule book front to back and some of the areas are for sure gray areas. What are your thoughts on boring? If I remember correctly you can go 0.15 over but then your car has to weigh more? Is it beneficial or is the added weight cancel it out?
In my world of spec miata we are not allowed to use anything other than stock. So long as you are running an engine that is stock, I would go with the factory inj or ones that flow the same as stock. Running larger or smaller inj will just throw off the fuel management from the computer.
Crap. Does all thermostat gasket have that paper sticker on them? I bought a genuine Mazda thermostat gasket and don't remember peeling off any paper. Its been at least a week, no leaks yet. 😂
Al Angulo with another absolute banger of a video
Thanks Tito, lets make a deal. You keep watching them and I will keep making them.

Hey Dope I could do a video on a trans reseal. I think thats a great idea. We cannot use the 6 speed in spec Miata.
yee another fire video from my dude big al!👌
Thanks Miata Mike, more to come buddy
When putting the valve cover on you put a dab of sealant on the corners where the cam caps are?

@@aracing your knoweldge and experience is very helpful. thankyou.

What do you use for vacuum lines? Used, new, oem???
I buy a kit from Mazda for the coolant hoses and buy vacuum line from the parts store.

Most do but if not, do not worry about it, JUST DON'T USE RTV!
