Today, on this very special episode of The Ranveer Show, we welcome Robin Uthappa. He is a former Indian cricketer who is known for his aggressive batting style and ability to score quick runs. He has represented India in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals. Uthappa has also played for various domestic teams in India, including Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

A lot of people don't understand the tradeoff of franchise sports. You can choose only two of financial vs sporting vs marketing.
RCB and Manchester United choose finance and marketing;
MI, CSK and Madrid choose sporting and marketing;
RR, Bayern Munich choose Finance and sporting.
Yes, when your management doesn't care about winning, it will reflect in your players also. I think when Virat was captain he tried his level best to keep the winning mentality alive. Now, I feel even Virat has given up.

RCB don't invest in Indian players. Thats the problem. Where is RCBs Indian batting powerhouse besides Kohli and Dravid? They let KL Rahul, Manish Pandey and Devdutt Paddikkal go. Robin won IPLs for us in KKR, but being a Karnataka boy, he should have been in RCB.
End of the day, all this comes down to horrible management.
U say that but ur probably one of the say people who after the first few matches said ‘drop Rajat Patidar’ so RCB fans can’t make their minds up. They have the same amount of faith in players as management does

Highest scorer for RCB after VK is not Dravid, it's ABD. In fact Dravid is #7.
Dravid is the highest INDIAN run scorer for RCB after VK. Maybe that's what Robin meant to say but forgot the keyword 'Indian'.

@@unnatraghav4612 totally agree. Too top heavy and not enough middle order strength as was highlighted. Sehwag made a great point tht most of the support staff and the captain are non-Indians. That can impact younger Indians who may find it hard to bond culturally with the leadership.

@@arjunjalan2007 sure, support staff being foreigners can be hard for young Indian players but I don't think that's the reason. I think the reason is RCB in general has a terrible culture irrespective of who's in the team leadership.
CSK's support staff is mostly foreigners as well but the main difference is that most of them are former CSK players and all of them try to continue the culture of assurance and backing that CSK has set. RCB has never had such a culture and they try to change things too often which creates doubt and as a result of that doubt there's chaos.

My pick observation 🧐: The captains who have lead RCB has not even won a single trophy in icc tournaments and even ipl example Virat Kohli, Faf , Daniel vitori and Rahul Dravid. So first bring that captain who can bring fearless approach while playing knockout games example Kane Williamson , pat Cummins or any other like that.
Dravid captained for 1st year and did well as capt for RR with a not a typical star studded line up.And dont remember Rohit winning an ICC trophy but he has won 5 IPL so your logic is not a good one.

Rcb’s biggest issue is that all of their top batsmen suffer from hit or miss problem. Abd, gayle, Maxwell, Faf- all of them are either gonna score 100 or get out in zero. There’s nothing in between.
In 2008, Deccan chargers had the same problem. Afridi, Gilchrist, symonds- all the big hitters were there. But they were also hit/ miss batsmen. There’s no mentality for partnership or taking a inning deep.
Also I wanna say most RCB players and coaches played for themselves. I have to point out Kohli’s selfishness. He couldn’t deliver as a captain for multiple seasons. Yet he didn’t resign or step Down. Same with Sanjay banger

Bro look back at the seasons padikkal used to open rcb had the slowest run rate in middle overs .... Both him and Virat Used to play really slow ... Together .... They put the brakes in middle overs .... Padikkal doens't have the power game it's after faf came that the run rate went up and that aggression was seen to an extent ..... Or else it was such a snooze fest watching Virat and padikkal bat together ..... It's good padikkal was let go by RCB .... I consider parthiv Patel to be a much much better opener than padikkal .... Always used to give RCB those aggressive starts .... Hence we can see how padikkal is failing in middle order he cant bat with modern T20 strike rate

Kkr had different case in 2012 and 2014 than RCB.
Kkr management realised that Eden Gardens aids spinners so they made a quartet of quality spinners between 2011-2015.
Shakib al hasan, Iqbal Abdullah, Sunil narine and chawla.
They also had Rajat bhatia who had good cutters as medium pace bowler.
I remember in 2011 and 2012 season under Gambhir's captaincy when kkr used to bowl 5-6 overs of spin in powerplay and they would squeeze opposition's run rate completely. Even scoring 40 in 6 overs against kkr was dufficult.
While RCB can't do the same because chinnaswamy is graveyard for spinners as well as pacers. Rcb don't even know what their strength is hence they don't utilize home conditions properly
First of all it’s because Robin we lost one ipl. He himself confessed in Ashwin interview that he was not interested to play for RCB that year and he didn’t give his 100%.
Look this is the same as We Won World Cup of 2007 & 2011 not Because of Only Dhoni. we Indian often give credit to only one.

I completely agree and I think he deserves more blame not just for that but also because he's their biggest star so while he was captain and even now without the captaincy he has the most leverage. If he chooses to leave then RCB lose a ton of money from sponsorships and their fanbase collapses so he could force their hand to build a strong team and change the culture but he's clearly content with not winning.

All of the reasons are true but nobody address the Elephent in the room which is Kohli not being aggressive in power play. You got to make use of first 6 overs, that changes the entire momentum. No doubt he is a great player, but he shouldn’t do anchor role as an opener instead give a chance to youngsters and tell them to go hard. RCB to me always looks like there are two teams in the team. Players like Kokli. ABD. Gayle. Maxwell and most of the top foreign players group up which in a way demoralises the feelings of the other lesser known batch. This is bound to effect the team as a whole. So it ends up with individual players performing well but not the team doing well. Like in the case of Mumbai in 2024. So even having great players in a team is not going to win them any trophies.

KSCA is very strong board, and it does not allow to anyone (be it RCB management) to control pitch condition. It is not the case with CSK and KKR, because of strong star owners. Dinesh kartik in an interview admitted that, kkr management has a say in pitch condition during ipl.
So why can't RCB build a team around that pitch, we all know spinners do well in chennai and Kolkata, that's why csk and KKR spends money on spinners. RCB should do the same
Then why doesn't RCB purchase fast bowlers who can thrive on these conditions? CSK purchases spinners and batters who will thrive batting on Chepauk and that's why they're successful because they build around their team around their home ground to ensure the most number of wins to qualify.

In big tournament if player like kohli comes in top means you need similar player at no. 5 or no. 6 position else it will build lot of pressure psychologically on team if kohli scores little lesser strike rate or gets out for low score. And team will score run but will be always 15-20 runs short. That's the difference dhoni does for CSK.
And RCB definitely need serious experienced bowling leader who can guide during match and lead from front like zaheer khan, bumrah, shami, pat Cummins.
