    I've mixed them and have done 27k miles. ULV by it self burns it self out to fast. But the half and half has my transmission shifting smoother then the day I got a new pan and filter with ULV. Done 100+ passes down the 1/8th and street in 9 months.

      Good to know, mine dropped .4 seconds off its quarter from just being properly filled and having the fresh fluid in it.

    I just did this myself and swapped the plastic OEM pan for a PPE aluminum pan which holds 4 more quarts. This job was a massive pain but the difference in shifting was noticeable.

      Mike we apperciate the opportunity, if you are concerned we would be happy to send you a oil analysis to test your fluid.

      Again man there could be potentially no issues at all….the issues isn’t the ULV it’s the mixing the two fluids. Again probably won’t be an issue at all. In fact the 10 speeds are in more than just fords and Chevy even calls for a different ULV than ford does for the same transmission. I just didn’t want to mix them myself and was a couple quarts short from completely swapping over it amsoil fluid

    Am sitting at the Ford dealer right now after buying a used platinum with 60k miles and no record of transmission service. Asked for a full flush through the cooler lines. They pumped it out through the fill hole and put fluid back…had to send it back and clarify again that it should be over 13 quarts and should be a complete fluid swap with an inlet and an outlet connected. Saw the techs struggling to figure out how to connect the machine lol called your shop to see why that would be the case and they told me it takes a specific connector. Still, it’s crazy that a Ford dealer doesn’t have the tools or knowledge to get this particular service done right.

      Absolutely insane that a ford dealer doesn’t have the proper tools to get the job done 🥲

    I'm local to Houston, where do you say it would be good to take the ST to get the transmission fluid changed?

    Check out HPL Teal for your next fluid change. It's the only other ULV on the aftermarket aside from Valvoline ULV and it's HPL so only the finest base oils. I've been running it for the last 6k miles and this is the best it's ever shifted.

    My 2021 Ford Explorer ST has 43,000 miles. Should I flush or change the transmission fluid, what about the transfer case oil, and differential oil? I have a fluid extractor that operates with an air compressor-can I use it to remove and replace these fluids?

    • @HoustonSpeedFreaks
      @HoustonSpeedFreaks  Месяц назад

      I’d flush the fluid out and yes you can use the fluid extractor on the diffs and transfer case

    Just do an aluminum deep pan for a 10R60 or 10R80 then it will have a drain plug for future.

    PRO TIP: Upshifting and downshifting with the paddle shifters is useful in getting the trans up to temp faster. More gear shifts = faster trans warmup. Probably cuts warmup time on my ST in half (or so) 👍🏼 To clarify: upshift and downshift MORE FREQUENTLY than the trans would shift on its own naturally…

    I bought the P3 vent gauge you recommended. Fairly easy to install. I have the gauge set on transmission temp as well.
    If tran temp goes over 215 degrees is it time to stop driving it and have it checked out? When does temp become a problem?
    I live in Virginia, do you recommend allowing a Ford shop to flush the fluid? Or can any shop flush it -especially since it requires a FULL FLUSH.
    Thanks for your channel. 2020 Ford Explorer 2.3 Liter rwd Limited. Unfortunately, at 20,000 miles my 10r60 7 to 6 gear shift was giving a hard thump. Under warranty, FORD shop replaced parts.. clutches were burned up due to a snap ring failure I think. Since repair it seems to running well. Watching temp now with P3 gauge to hopefully helpbprevent any future issues.
    Great channel... Thanks
    Signed - non-racer, just an Explorer guy that wants to protect his investment.
    P.S. I wish the limited showed what gear you are in, I think the ST displays that info on the dash.

      P.S. be nice if the P3 gauge displayed what gear the trans is in.

      If your in sport mode atleast on the explorer ST it shows what gear you’re in 😅
      And if just like to say thank you for watching my videos man truly means a lot ❤️
      And no sir I see temps over 215 occasionally it will come down pretty quick from there. Any shop can do it if they have the proper equipment. But I’d highly recommend taking it to a place that’s familiar with the explorers. Or atleast familiar with the 10 speeds.

      Ahh okay 😂 I saw your update in your latest oil change video. I've been watching all your videos from oldest to newest because I am going to pick up a 25 when they hit the dealers. You think the tuners, exhausts, and other parts will fit right up on the new ones?

    Did u also have the filter changed or just a flush?

  • @brett88knight
    @brett88knight 5 месяцев назад +1

    Does the flush include a filter change?

    • @HoustonSpeedFreaks
      @HoustonSpeedFreaks  5 месяцев назад

      It doesn’t but I’m sure if you wanted to do a filter change then a flush that could possibly work. But the fact this machine uses the factory pump in the transmission to move the old fluid out and the new in you’d have a chance of running it dry because you have to take the pan off to get to the filter. So I’m not sure the order they would take in order to do that
