My first CB was a Midland 300140ch AM with 40ch FM. I bought it used and it was boosted up so much, people in my area were wiped out when I went on air. They couldnt listen or talk to people and htey didnt know who I was. I was running off a DV27 on a 1" thick steel ground plate on the livingroom floor in the corner of the room. The 3001, with a green display developed a dry joint and I would have to bang it to get it to work at times. I swaspped it for a Midland 150M 40channel and stuck an 18ft silver rod on the chimney of the house and got good signals from miles away. . Then I had a Trident 777 with upper, lower sidebands. I think if my memory serves me well, it had 300 channels.
You got a mention in a "My Mate Vince" video on YT the other night, Fred. He referred to you in a fix he was doing on a pair of batter y powered garden clippers. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Fred! The portable receiver that I use besides my new Malahit DSP2 is the Belka All Mode. My Raddy RF919 works but is a pain in the butt to tune for me. 73! Have a great day!
I remember when the FM CB was leagal to buy and use. I was on AM CB, had upper and lower sideband with flick channel where listeners couldnt instantly track you and listen in. AM could receive further transmissions, but as the people wanted AM, the government only allowed FM, which didnt receive half the distance of AM.
i remember back in the late 90s with my galaxy dx-88 razzing guys in the UK on their FM channels from the USA. good times. every morning id wake up and when 11 opened id go up and razz them a bit. went for months.
Now that was very interesting FRED, thanks for letting us see that , I do wish more radio's would put are FM on them thanks again and have a great Christmas and New year Alan.🍻💯👍
