I love warm reds! Would you know if there is a single pigment color closest to a true vermillion available that is nontoxic? I would love to have one! I use cotman light red or DS pr206 sometimes as warm red and sometimes other brands po73. I’ve liked to mix Roman Szmal quinacridone scarlet PR NA and PO71 (which may be like pv19 mixed with PO71) but I have never seen a single pigment version of vermillion. That quinacridone scarlet on its own is amazing. Is PO36 a close choice? Or maybe an orangey perylene color? Da Vinci alizarin gold is also a nice burnt scarlet and mixing a gold and a cooler red is something else I like to do. However, that Medici red looks nice. The DS color that I sometimes want but don’t need is deep scarlet.
@@JoseGonzalez-wq5jd that's a great question. I never tried looking for one, so I tried to do a bit of searching. I think Daniel Smith Organic Vermilion (single pigment - PR188) may be a non toxic alternative to vermilion. I must confess that I do not know much about vermilions, though I have been warming up to warm reds lately, and I thank you for asking such an interesting question! Also if you want to see a lot more swatches of red, Jane Blundell's blog is a fantastic resource :) PO36 may be a too orange on its own (in my opinion)
One of my favorite colours! I gotta get a hold of a medici red at some point. Keep up the amazing work!
@@notshiny1178 thanks for watching! warm reds have definitely grown on me over the years!
What a nice swatching channel! I love Vermillion (above all Holbein version) and warm reds…. I subscribe❤
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the swatches :)
