    I remember back in the dial up days a big online debate was Megadeth vs. Metallica... They're both great but Megadeth has a lot more to say... Songs like this prove it.

    • @Deehvad
      @Deehvad 8 лет назад +46

      Because people are whiny little bitches who want them to copy/paste Rust in Peace on every new album or they will cry.
      Of all the thrash bands I know, Megadeth is the only one who have been able to vary their sound yet still remain "Thrash" at their core and release consistent, solid material throughout their career. And yes, I include Supercollider and Risk in there, even though I like them a bit less overall.
      If you look at other big 4 members
      Metallica, they varied their sound but it is all just hard rock SHYTE (in my opinion);
      Slayer who literally hasn't changed their sound at all in 30 years (this can be a good thing depending on your point of view), I mean they release the exact same album every time;
      Anthrax, I give them a break. I personally liked Jon Bush, I just preferred their older thrashy sound overall. But I think albums like Stomp 442 don't get enough credit. We've Come For You All (Jon Bush) is a fucking great album.
      I could also mention bands like Exodus, Overkill etc which are great but which have less of a "groove" for me, for whatever reasons.
      But overall Megadeth is my favorite by far. Almost every album has top-notch quality from start to finish, with maybe 2 exceptions (but even the exceptions still have great songs on them). A testament to Mustaine's songwriting and persistence, and to the amazing musicians he has worked with over the years.
      Wow I typed a lot. Didn't expect that. Ha.

      Risk had better songs than Super Collider did. SC had 1-2 really good songs, and that's about it. Risk on it's 2nd half can actually be really good. The effects they use on Risk just killed it for me.
      Cryptic is an awesome album though.

      now i don't think Writings is among their finest works (i personally think Dave had too much emotional baggage going into this album), but the best songs are the less known ones. this, The Disintegrators, FFF/Bullprick, She-Wolf (although this one's relatively well-known)...

    Listen to Nuclear Assault's "Critical Mass" from "Handle With Care" and then come back and listen to this again and tell me that it's pure coincidence that the two sound so uncannily similar. And I mean really listen to them back to back. You'll be amazed at just how much this Megadeth track sounds like a song that came out a full eight years before the "Cryptic Writings" album was released. "Mastermind" sounds just like "Critical Mass." The only difference is that this is a throwaway song for Megadeth - it's basically just album filler, but "Critical Mass" was one of the better known Nuclear Assault songs. How is it that people don't bring this up when talking about this album?
