Fast Headcrabs were actually supposed to be in the game but their speed, mechanics, and sheer shock value in VR were determined to be too much for the average player in play testing so they cut it instantly. So yeah, a VR game with horror as a major element in it decided that the enemy was too scary even by it's horror standards.

The runner headcrab is an interesting take on the headcrab species. It’s mouth isn’t it’s entire body, it has a big tail, the thing looks unique to the entire headcrab family.
After playing half life 2 I dont know how to feel about the the skin color of the poison headcrab and fast headcrab being swapped it will be hard to get used to :/.

tbh I wish they kept those as they were in HL2. The dark color on them made sense to me due to their toxin, and their sounds were cool and really helped you differentiate them from the others.

Theire eye is very unnnerving. I am Not sure if they are directly related. Their physiologies are somehow similar ( 4 feet, but different eye and structure ) they sound very similar ( the screech on your face) but behave quiet differently.

I find it strange that not only the colors of the Fast and Poison Headcrabs have been swapped, but also that the Fast has been cut. It looks complete with no textures missing and even its... uh, BELOW MOUTH has animation and it is absolutely terrifying. It's odd that this headcrab is the only to have this odd mouth and closes and opens by itself. It's also worth noting that it looks like the Runner Headcrab has some sort of EYE on its tail, which seems to be its way of seeing where it goes. I believe that the Runner Headcrab was used instead of the Fast Headcrab to freshen things up a bit.
