I’ve been doing mechanic work for 30 years. I never thought of putting a jack under the rotor. That is a great idea and I will use it in the future. Thank you and a great video. I appreciate you telling us all about the wrench in socket size that helps tremendously. Thanks again.
Anything I can do to help, brotha! We mechanics stick together and learn new stuff all the time. The internet has opened my eyes to so many uses of a drill that I never imagined. Hahaha! We learn something new each time. Appreciate you coming by, mongoose
Thanks so much for this video Jeff! It's way easier than other videos I've seen where you need to crack off the axle nut and remove the front axle. You da man!
I tried to make it make sense. Some of the steps they took seemed a bit "much". I've worked on cars my whole life and I know there's always more than 1 way to do certain things. I gave it shot without tearing the whole car apart! Hahahaha! Thanks for watching!
Thanks fornthsi video, doind an axle on a 2012 xc70. Had to drop ball joint to get the front of the control arm to lay flat enough to slip in. Ended up just muscling the control arm down low enough to slip ball joint back in. Definitely going to save this video for the future.
All good, Ed! These cars can be a pain, but pace yourself and know it will line up. I was not thinking it would be this much work, but I did the best I could to show the path I took
Welcome! It was an act of patience, I'm telling ya, so be ready for it. I usually know things will not always go as planned, so I just keep a cool head and take my time. It'll work!
What's up, my brotha! I was just thinking about you because I was talking about POTHOLES cracking up at your little saying! hahahaha! Just know I'm always there with you in spirit, brotha. That was funny! I do what I can to help. They told this lady $1,800 for a repair and alignment. I did the repair without adjusting the axles and she didn't need an alighnment. Drives fine. She paid $475 with parts and labor. That's all I charged. She saved almost $1,400 to keep here in our economy. This is how we take care of our community, brotha!
Ball joints and potholes don't mix! These ball joints were shot and the steering wheel would have too much jerkiness when turning sharply. Ball joint had no support.
