I grew up on a small island in Puget Sound. We always had this around and being the rugrat I was, I'd eat the blossoms between two leaves like a sandwich. Don't know why but I remember it being pretty good and I survived. Not sure why but this somehow popped into my head (too much plant life?). Thanks for the video, I'm subbed and looking forward to more! I'll bring snax! 😋

Such a fun, informative, and hilarious video! You're awesome!! I see this plant in so many gardens here in the UK and I've always wondered if the berries are poisonous. Thanks so much!

It's kind of invasive here, at least in my yard in Georgia. Is it still potentially dangerous to consume if you cook it into jelly? I see a lot of recipes to do that with it but also a lot of warnings that eating too many of them can make you sick. Not sure if I should even bother with harvesting my numerous plants if spreading the jelly on toast might give us all the runs.

As far as I know, it's pretty safe especially if it's been cooked into a jelly. I think if somebody ate too much, it could upset his or her stomach. I haven't had any problems personally, and I've usually only eaten small amounts at a time.

In Georgia, you likely have the ornamental Mahonia that is from Asia and is invasive in parts of the east. It's superficially similar to Oregon grape but not the same plant.

For sure , all bitter herbs are great for parasites. Drink the tea or tincture, it is great for digestion.

They are found in Oregon. And by the way, Idaho Montana are not in the Pacific Northwest.

Thank you! I've seen some definitions of the Pacific Northwest that include those states, and I think there are many possible ways to define the area.

Yeah, you're probably right. This is one of my older videos. I tried to make my intros shorter with newer ones. I know people don't have a lot of time to waste watching me go on and on. Thanks!
