- In an interview with CGTN, Leung Chun-ying, former Hong Kong SAR's chief executive, said Washington is targeting China and sees Hong Kong as an easy target. He said the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act had nothing to do with Hong Kong, with democracy, with human rights or freedom. "The whole thing has been distorted," he said.

I think China should take a more active role in HK, to protect our sovereignty, because I can clearly see what the PanDems are trying to do here, & the Americans are trying to use the HK PanDems to try to consolidate their overreaching power in HK affairs to try to sway HK towards a more pro US leaning, & if China isn't careful here, HK may just end up just like Taiwan, a client state subservient to US interests, & I think China needs to be more aware of this fact right now, because next year we have the LEGCO legiaslature elections in January, the PanDems will obviously want to win more power & influence in those elections, to consolidate their power, if they succeed, then HK will be lost, because if they win, they'll block any progress any way they can so they can gain more & more influence, then fulfil their aim & goal of having full out independence, which is backed & supported by Washington, and this is why China should be taking more of an active role in HK. I think officials in China may have miscalculated events. As I see it, the "trade war" concerns access to Chinese resources and both labor and consumer markets. Historically, this trade had been facilitated through the port city of Hong Kong, under British Rule. Hong Kong was the "Suez Canal" of the East bridging trade between China and "the West". Beginning with the Nixon-era and expanding under subsequent U.S. Presidential administrations, trade relations opened mainland China to direct access diminishing Hong Kong's role as a trade spigot - the "Suez" had flooded, permitting passage without the need for the system of "Canal" locks. The fortunes of Hong Kong were impacted by this development, with certain industries faltering (i.e. manufacturing), others languishing (i.e. shipping), and others excelling (i.e. finance). During this period, Hong Kong continued to serve as a broker between China and the West, mediating bureaucratic channels, language barriers, and eminently the financial exchanges. Under British governorship, Hong Kong's finance sector had emerged as a tax haven - a loosely, or perhaps better described as a mysteriously, regulated financial market that secured untraceable exchanges. Accompanying the trade detente with China was the need to assure that the untraceable exchanges with mainland China continued. The 2019 Extradition Bill proposal threatened the "loose" exchange relationship between China and the West by according China with the authority to pursue violators of Chinese law in Hong Kong. Legitimate exchange was not under threat, but exchange between dubious profiteering agents in China and conspirators in Hong Kong - both intent on illicitly expatriating wealth from China - were under threat by the Extradition Bill.
A legitimate economic insecurity of the Hong Kong population was exploited by opponents to the Bill, to trigger (read: incite) the "pro-democracy" protest among a disenfranchised and itinerant population.
As I see it, the Extradition Bill was necessary to integrate Hong Kong with the mainland. The repeal of the bill will prevent/challenge the ability of Hong Kong citizens from free travel and/or the opportunity to work elsewhere in China; as China does not have the extradition authority pursue Hong Kong violators of Chinese law, should they return to Hong Kong.
With the repeal of the Bill, those intent on maintaining the relationship that enables embezzlement and money laundering are satisfied. The street protesters will not receive such relief unless economic fortune is shared with the Hong Kong citizens. Organized crime and the underground economy will be unaffected, or potentially emboldened/expanded. The two-system approach is making it difficult for China to interfere with, or manage (positively or negatively), the economic development of Hong Kong; which is still under the control of the domestic Hong Kong business and special interests - including special Western influence - comprising the Legislative Council.
It was necessary to qualify Hong Kong citizens, apart from Chinese citizens; as the former enjoy a status not otherwise shared with their mainland Chinese counterparts.

The US has no right to interfere in China's domestic affairs and hypocritically called it human rights and freedoms abuse. The US should look itself in the mirror to see the disproportionately high number of police brutalities and unjustified shootings (outright murders) of the blacks and Hispanics. The titled of this interview is The Crisis in Hong Kong “A Victory for Democracy”, the presentator interview Madam Emily Lau (former Democratic Party member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council and chair of the Hong Kong Democratic party’s foreign affairs committee. I was totally shocked by her points of view about China. Even i am neither a Chinese nor Hongki, i feel shamed on her as another dog for US. If a nation doesn’t lover her/his country then he/her should migrate to a country that she is proud of.

The main problem is the HongKong government is not supported by the citizen.neither the legislators and this guy is corrupted too.the people don’t have channel to dialogue to talk to the government. All the violence was initiated from police or they ignored by the government.
