Anybody out there still playing Oath? This is one of the only channels that really seemed invested in it! I am sad that the game seems totally dead to players it has such endless depth it seems to me only a few plays in!
Hey stumbled on this channel, had to subscribe after Falling Sky being your fav coin. It's my favorite game, followed by Pax Pamir and John Company. Nice to see these awesome games get recognition 🔥
Man thank you for your videos, I will check one of this games. Because of you I got into Root and Villainous (I decided to go the Marvel way) and the other day I just saw a video of you saying that you also liked one of my new fav games (Imperium Classics). It would be nice to see a video of you of this game since it is really good and now goes beyond with Horizons. Have a nice week!
I might be missing it but i don't see a discord link in the discription! I had to find it by googling. It might be in your link tree but some people don't want to click on that. Thanks for a great video! Lots of games i want to check out now
Awesome list, with 3 games I hadnt heard of before! Always nice to see a lot of great games + some new ones you know then you're gonna like. I remember being able to buy John company a few years back for like 60 bucks, thinking it was too expensive since I just bought another game. Now the game haunts me, with its crazy new price tag of more than 110 bucks... Never regretted not buying a game more than that time. FOMO HOORAY!
@@LordoftheBoard I've always enjoyed playing the Polania Republic! I love getting to pick two rewards from encounters, as well as never losing pop from bullying workers. Also, mechs are cool! 🇵🇱 How about you?
This is a great list of games! I've got a 4 player group of friends who all have root as their favorite game (me included). I've already picked up dune but this vid will really help them understand why it might scratch that itch in a different way. P.s. that time wizard hat is so damn cool man.
Im surprised Ahoy isn't on this list. The artstyle, Asymmetri and components. Not to mention it's from the same company, so it's been compared a lot to Root.
I tried to keep Leders other titles outside of the list. Otherwise almost half the list would be Cole’s designs or Leders design. And I figure if you are really into root you have already checked those out! But totally ahoy is a great option, same as vast and Oath even!
You should definitely try dale of merchants. Not really similar to root in the mechanics but a great deckbuilder and it definitely scratches the different animalfolks/factions with different specialties itch, plus it also has great artwork
Why thank you for the boost! Great question. None of these I would say are exactly like Root. So they provide a very different fun.. but still give a little vibe. Which is nice! I really enjoy all of these games standalone as well :) hoping this helps people branch out into other games
@@LordoftheBoard I was mostly kidding I love all your content and recently joined the discord a few days ago I have all the root and villainous games and expansions that have came out and honestly been looking at small world for awhile its next on my list to get! All these games look like they would be fun to try
I played Root yesterday for the first time and was greatly disappointed; it's extremely tit for tat... I do something, you screw me over, you do something, I screw you over... A battle every freakin' turn and too much luck with the cards and dice. I don't get the love for it.
@@flow3730 I like asymmetry too, but when the game is NOTHING but a CONSTANT tit for tat, it quickly becomes an exercise in futility. Scythe, on the other hand is great because you can do so many things other than combat.
It's a game that rewards repeated play. Beginners can fall into a chaotic tit-for-tat that is unsatisfying, but it is a much more satisfying game when you move beyond that. At higher levels it actually becomes weirdly cooperative in the early game, until it all explodes in very fun ways.

Damn Crescent Moon is so good
John Company somehow makes a rolling teach work and it's incredible. Every game I play there's at least one newbie and they never slow down turns 3+.
Completely agreed :)
Great list, with some absolutely stellar games on there.
Fab to see Falling Sky and a lovely way to discover Vijayanagara, which sounds fascinating.
You gotta try it :) it is wonderful. Thank you for watching friend
Awesome list. History game represent :)
Root is great, and it is also great to learn and play history!
oh, Dune is awesome too...

Great picks! I hope to give even more of a spotlight to wargames in the future. I have some plans
Stumbled across this after playing Root this week. I subscribed so hard! Great content!
Thank you so much for enjoying my content! :) more coming very soon.
Pretty certain John Company is my current favorite game. It is so good.

Rest assured! I have a video on Horizons in the works :)
Thanks Sam! Just makes me want to play more Root!
I want to play more too! But lemme tell you… Vijayanagara and Maria have been so much fun lately too!

No you were totally correct! That was my bad!
You failed to mention Vast! I play the Mysterious Manor with both the expansions and it's a blast

Scythe is up there for one of my favorite asymmetric games. Dune looks cool too! I should give that one a try!
Highly recommend Dune :) it’s brutal but I love it. And yes! Do you have a fav faction in Scythe?

@@justsomewater339 Polania is sick! I typically enjoy Saxony best! Anything that encourages fighting I typically enjoy quite a bit!

Ayeee! Hopefully you find some more to try out :) appreciate you watching! And thank you it is one of my fav hats! ❤️
Pax Renaissance is the G.O.A.T. in my opinion.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gangs of Night City gave me pretty strong Root vibes. I'd suggest checking it out

I will check this out :) thank you for the recommendation.
Thanks for this great video!
Have you tried Circadians Chaos Order?
I’d love to see your opinion on that game!!
Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
Yes I have! It is a really great game.
@@LordoftheBoard indeed!! 🙂
Great Job!
Why thank you!
Really fun list. Take my comment to boost the algorithm.
Why thank you!
Happy algorithm boost! Why play a game like root when you can just play root! 👀💯💥🔥

Yeah it’s not for everyone! It is by far the best game for me!
There goes another one... ☹️
It depends what you enjoy while playing a Boardgame. I love the asymmetric factions and the fighting for VPs.
