    Tip: for hi hat loops that are a little too sustained for psytrance, use “beats” mode and set it to “tranisients” with no looping, and shorten the sustains to taste. It’s perfect

    Thanx, great tips! I would like to add, as a general tip on production: cut the highs where they aren't needed. I'm not that experienced but I already noticed that it adds up quickly and overpowers the mix with unnecessary hiss and noise. It sounds unpleasant and digital.
    The reverbs and delays tip shouldnt be underestimated, there role in the mix is huge (as in totally important to make it alive, organic and psychedelic as to transport you into that special realm 😉🤫) but hard to get it right as a beginner. It is a topic on it's own. Would be interesting to see you doing a video about that. Background, foreground, panning. Also setting up returns and inserts to this topic. I often find myself placing the delay before it gets a touch of reverb so it echos nicely into that space. Thanx again

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger  Год назад +2

      About the highs, I'm self not 100% sure. Recently I stopped cutting them, but I have seen top producers cutting highs on every lead and others not doing it. Logically it would make sense as we are not hearing above certain frequencies depending on the age but I also see the point that somehow they are still felt. Need to dig deeper into that myself, and get more trustworthy sources.
      About sends I can make a video. It's also a very individual topic. I know people who place reverbs in every channel to fit it to the sound and others who disagree as they want to make one space. I’m personally in the later fraction and do 90% of my reverbs in the sends or combine synth verbs with sends etc. but ya might be interesting to see in a video :)

    • @highfractal8260
      @highfractal8260 Год назад

      @@Psiger thanx for the reply, that's interesting. I tend to also use about 4 sends or so. 1 for the percs, 1 for deep background, long and lush, a hall for in the middle and a short one for upfront stuff like leads. But for leads I also use the hall so you get some back and fort movement. Reverbs need to be very transparent and forgiving though in my experience and not resonant or metallic sounding, then it won't work on most sounds. Such reverbs are better used as inserts for sounddesign.Thanx again for the reply

    Thanks for the great tips 🙏🏼 😊
    Maybe good transitions from one block to the next are the most important elements one should think about when CREATING tracks. I'm not saying K&B aren't as important, but there are tracks from 20 and more years ago, with a sh*** mix but with VERY good transitions, that we still listen to today..
    Transitions tips and methods are rarely been talked about. For late beginners, they are the key for great tracks..

    Really helpful stuff. My aim is to create my own trance tracks on ableton and dj them live.. There doesn't seem to be much info on this. It's either clips like this about production which are great for me, or videos about Serata/Rekord box centred on mixing tracks by other artists. So would I need to get Ableton and Serata? Cuz we're talking hundreds there.

    • @Psiger

      Do you mean playing a set with Ableton e.g. having stems of K&B and sound clips you want to trigger?

    • @molloyzer1

      @@Psiger I would be open to trying it that way. Might add more scope for creativity with stems, but i noticed most psy Djs having decks and a laptop. I missed a little bit of the boat with the applications 😔 but for 2025 I will be earlier. Anyway, I'm quite happy as a lot of cool things will happen this year already with collabs and e.g. a release on a VA on my dream label with a lot of my favorite artists :) which will open even more doors. My main goal is to mastery and work with the great minds I admire to learn from them and that path works so far really well.

    1:15 why not just loop a single kick for 16 bars? All that manual copying seems like extra work.

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger  5 месяцев назад

      Well, usually I do it more quickly. Somehow I standardized it to bounce most stuff like kick, and bass drums to 16 bars as I don't need to think much about it. But yes 👍 would probably be the better solution also and saves a bit of storage space on the disc as well.
