It's 33% looks, 33% feel and 33% sound. But if you close your eyes, it's 0% looks, 1% feel, 1% sound and 98% psychology. So... I choose whatever looks cooler on a given bass/color. And for this one, I don't even know what I'd prefer.
Why do my shit for ears hear a minor but clear difference the rosewood sounds like it has more pronounced low mids and that makes it sound darker. But that can be for a number of reasons.
Great video! I feel like there definitely is a slight difference in sound between the two but it's not as pronounced as people make it out to be. I prefer maple for it's looks and also love the fact that it doesn't dry out and require any conditioning!
Both different basses. I wouldn’t call it an upgrade, I’ve never played a Beaton but after a couple sound reviews I’d go with an SRMD200 if you like the feel of a 32” scale length bass.
No, neither one outshines the other. They are just different. The quality of the wood and the construction of the instrument has more impact on an instrument’s tone. Strings and how you play also influence your tone more than which wood the fingerboard uses.
When played with the pick I guess a bit of the difference also comes from the slightly different playing position (a tiny bit closer to neck if I see it tight?)?. But even in the mix (with drums) I can hear a difference, but I'd guess in a real mix the difference is quite negligible.
I prefer rosewood because lowest notes sound fatter than on maple but the incredible thing is that the highest notes on slap sound crispier on rosewood! And another incredible thing is that there are persons saying that they don't feel any difference....
I prefer dark fretboards. The only difference I thought I heard was maybe the Maple had a bit more echo to it or reverb. The rosewood didn't pop as much. I might have imagined it but that is what I thought the difference was.

I like the look of the rosewood board on that particular bass...beyond that, any tonal difference would get lost in a mix
Muh toan woods! Can't hear a difference without looking at the screen.

Must have been your eyes and not ears
@@flogginga_dead_horse4022 no that's not it. I listened to this with my eyes closed.
I’m not sure about the sound? But I prefer the firmer feel of a maple fingerboard 🤷♂️

No chance your fingerboard has anything to do with the sound. Purely aesthetic, ive always loved the look of maple!
I have bad eyesight and I see better with Black dots on yellowish/ white maple board.
hi can i ask a question would a Ibanez Mezzo SRMD200 be an upgrade from a Beaton Prominent SB ?

no difference in sound. Like them both depending on the look. Fingers should not be touching the fretboard unless it's fretless ...

I do hear a difference between those basses, maple board one is brighter in the top end ....are they otherwise identical?? Nice shirts also

I honestly hear a difference but idk if it's cause I see it, lol
More about feel than sound imo but I'm a newbie and love the Ric sound so what do I know....... 😂😂😂😂
