Wow I remember this when I lived in Chicago and was in High School. I have not heard this song for at least 37 years. Amazing, thank God for this new technology now a days we can reencounter old lost friends and old lost tunes we weren't sure if they existed or were figments of our imagination.
In Berlin, in the 80´s and early 90´s, there was a club called Metropol. They featured a laser show in which images and geometric figures were projected on gauze veils suspended over the heads of the crowd in the dancehall. The show would usually start around 4am. The dancehall was clouded in fog by the fog machine, and then the laser show would start...I remember seeing it twice with Telex_Moscow Disco as the music.

one of my all time fave tracks. they used to play this at a nearby rollerskating rink/ skatepark called "Mundo Sobre Ruedas"( World on wheels) here in Dominican Republic, and I would go there and ride BMX everyday circa 1985-88, and this track was played daily so the rollerskaters would ride in a "train"formation. timeless. the rink was reopened last year after a 20 year hiatus, and they still play this!

Io ne avevo 15 di anni, eh sì quanti ricordi, le prime radio libere dove ascoltavo spesso questo brano che come hai detto era in classifica per molte settimane. Oggi pochi brani rimangono in classifica a lungo, purtoppo molta musica spazzatura.
Beh c'è anche da dire che se un pezzo entrava nella nostra Top Ten usciva l'anno dopo pur se interessante come questo dei Telex;insomma un pò lentini rispetto agli altri paesi magari degli stessi gruppi originari. Basti pensare alla famosa "Video Killer the Radio stars" dei Buggles che nel paese natio ebbe successo nell'estate dell'anno di pubblicazione(1979) da noi spopolò dall'Autunno fino agli inizi dell'anno successivo e così tanti altri brani che alla lunga un pò "stancavano",sarà che era la potenza delle Major,sarà un certo "disincronismo" con le classifiche d'oltrefrontiera ma da noi era così(almeno all'epoca)

For such a futuristic sounding song, it's surprising that they make a train the center of the sonic landscape, including techno versions of the train whistles from the "Grooveline." You'd think it would be a spaceship instead.

its made with a very expensive MOOG 3P synthesizer (20km from here, in Brussel) maybe tahts why it sounds not cheap :)
