I am in the same boat. I started listening to the O&A archives two or three months ago, and I regret that I missed out on them when they were still on the air.
I'm 1 of the 11 people from Fredericton and this cracked me the fuck up. This station has changed names and formats so many times, but still puts out the same hackey songs and bits that every other station in Freddy does. But, to besmirch the sacred Pita Pit!!! How dare you sirs!!!
Holy shit, at 4:40 listen to how Opie completely fucks over Nick's joke not once but twice and listen how Nick just sighs and goes "yeah whatever" to the destroying of his joke.
Opie's confidence has always far outweighed his competence. He can't even _recognize_ funny, let alone create it on anywhere near a consistent basis. He was just something you had to put up with to hear Ant and Jimmy.

Going back and listening to a marathon of Jocktober clips really makes it crystal clear why the boys were almost universally hated throughout the industry. I loved the times when they would talk to the targets and they would say, in a round-about way, that they knew it was hacky shit but they were just doing what they had to do. O&A were basically the magicians who were going around yelling "That's not real! The card is in his other hand!" to other magicians.
i think that's a radio trick mrjimmy. if you say P words into the mic it sounds horrible, like its always sounds over pronounced, so your taught to do that. its annoying either way.
I'm relistening to this yet again and the last scott and Todd bit made me literally fall down laughing at work. Jim's comments about "grabbing his chest" has me in tears.
The irony of listening starting at 34 minutes in knowing what we know now about O&A....Opie commenting how Scott Shannon should have stepped away years ago, the comment about how obvious it was that Scott and Todd hate each other....
Does anyone know which O&A it is where they're naming old shows with E Rocks name in it?? "Mcmillan and lunch, 6 million calorie man, Jake and the E Rock"
Also, after listening to the "fugitives" interview about doing it to make people talk to each other, am I the only one that notices that Paul Os movie that Louie roasted is essentially a fugitive bit but with murder?
Not just Americans, I'm afraid. It's exactly the same here in the UK. The amount of semantic euphemisms we have to use and tiptoeing around "problematic" words is exhausting. By all accounts Canada is even worse.
This bit was great, but I always hated when they all die laughing at post on the other stations Facebook and can't talk about it because of how terrible it is. I WANT TO KNOW!!!
I remember listening to regular radio and phuckin hating it. Getting XM WAS the best thing and I could listen to these shows raw. Now, I have none of those devices and just download all the O & A shows off this platform. I do miss this shit live tho
I can only imagine. Spent a little time in pei years ago and while I didn't listen to much radio as i spent most my time smoking weed and sleeping if it's anything like radio in the rest of this country I'm sure it's horrendous.
Worst Jocktober bit - A tie between Drifty's Jerky, and Bagster the Polka Monster (both on Steven King's station) Worst Jocktober line - "Wut aboot if I want to see da Wild Things?" Worst Jocktober caller prize - Tie between tickets to children's play of Annie Jr., and Bagster's accordion song contest with ONE slim jim with a bag of chips and can of Monster energy. Worst Jocktober show overall - A too close to call tie between Leo & Rebecca and John & Jeff. Leo & Rebecca was a sharp stabbing pain to your eardrums. John & Jeff was more a slow burn chinese water torture that eventually made you scream with the endless inanity. Impossible to say which pain is worse.
The best part about the pita pit fugitive, is that jocktober directly hit that girl conducting the interview after.... that stupid "social media coordinator" had to shut down the comments and eveything.
Even though it's a great bit to this day I think opie wanted to do this so much so he could try and separate himself from hacky radio people because he knew deep down that he was one. You can tell by how personal he gets when trashing them compared to anthony and Jimmy. It seems way more spiteful
It was a great decade or so of morning fun on Sirius XM. Glad to listen back and laugh at all of it.

That "Angel of Death" joke during Scott & Todd...oof.
I love when you happened to come across the source of different sound clips that they use. I never knew where the boat movie line came from

The greatest bit in radio history

Brother weez was the biggest culprit of all the shit they mocked doing jocktober. It makes sense that Opie looks up to him.

Hey brother
If it weren't for Anthony, Gregg would be doing the exact same show they would destroy every year.
Opie's not remotely talented enough to work at any station they ever jocktobered.
I love the silence then immediate collective disgust with the Pita Pit commercial.
That opening song.... kill me
Yea, recovering from the hypothermia those douche chills caused.
Its too edgy to handle

Opie radio rules man.
Scott is much more well spoken
Scott in his dark days: "She's a nice lady!"
Opie at his peak: "She's a nice lady!"
People need to boycott Pita Pit.
Opie saying "hairless" in reference to the children's production of "Hair" is by far the funniest thing he's ever said.
Ant's "How about mine" around 3:19:40 was a real gem
Fighting against laughter about "Oh my GAAAASH"
