- Is the Tamron 20-40mm a good all round lens for video? Does it pair well with the Sony ZV-E1?
Everything was recorded in the S-Cinetone profile. No post stabilization and no post color grading was applied. All footage is from the camera as is.
Audio was recorded using the on-board microphone of the ZV-E1.

I love your video especially when you running.. that test shows how good Sony has become in improving their built-in camera stabilisation. Plus you are using a Tamron, a non-native Sony lens (People claim Sony stabilisation works better with its native lens).
I have ZVE1, my lens now PZ 16-35mm F4. Used to have 20-70mm F4 and loved it. There is nothing to hate about 20-70mm lens, good bokeh at telephoto end, suffice wide, versatile focal range and good stabilisation. But after three months of usage, there was an urge for wider lens, hence i went for PZ. Really happy with it. There is nothing with 20mm i just want wider and when using Active Stab, that 16mm is cropped to 19mm or 20mm, i guess, hence the reason of me wanting wider focal range.😊

Concern to missing of custom button on the Tamron 20-40.. You can start recording touching "rec button" on the screen.
Can you not use the start timer to make the camera start after 2 seconds say? That’s what I did on the Fuji X-S20, great feature.

I have an A7S III with this Tamron 20-40 and the biggest thing that conserns me this lens is not parfocal, annoying focus lose when zooming in video mode, you can see it in this video too. I ordered ZV-E1 and Sony 16-35 PZ (~same size/weight as Tamron), excited to test it, should be great combo. My fear is mixed opinions on ZV-E1's mic quality.
Lol zv is a toy camera for youtubers and influencer wannabes the probably dont even know what parfocal is..
It all comes to budget i guess, isn't much more expensive?

Did you find your camera bag that doesn’t look like a camera? I’m looking for one too! 😅 One bag that caught my eye is the Bellroy sling 9L or 10L. Do a video if you ever find a perfect one. Thanks!

That's a very difficult choice! I also struggled. I am afraid I don't have an answer for you

It was one of the options if you look at the spreadsheet at the end of the video. So I seriously considered it. But I haven't tried it yet unfortunately.

Why not the kit lens? 24-60?
The kit lens is a 28-60. So it's a lot more zoomed in. Especially if you use the dynamic active stabilization. I think Sony rushed the camera to market and didn't really have a chance to create a decent kit lens that is actually fit for purpose.
Oh, and my kit lens doesn't really work. I have to attach it while the camera is on otherwise the auto focus doesn't work! Very strange indeed!

Yes, I was referring to the 24mm F2.8 (almost pancake lens)

No, none of them have OIS. So only using the in body stabilization

Hello. Thank you for all these nice videos on the Sony ZV-E1. I am looking for a small and discret cinema camera. My goal would be to shoot scenes in the streets without attracting too much attention. the ZV-E1 is a small camera with a good stabilization and a good autophocus but from what you are showing the dynamic stabilization is sometimes not working great when you are turning fast. My question is, do you think that it would be possible to follow an actor in the streets handheld with this camera?
