My Husband before he Passed Away, use to have A Sour Dough Starter! He would fix Sour Dough Pancakes, they Were Delicious! Good Receipe, thanks for Sharing Ms. Josie!❤️🙏🙏
Sorry for your loss
I just found my instructions for when I used to make it many years ago. 😂
I just finished your 4/27 video came back to this one to get my starter going again.
I've been hunting for this for a couple of weeks ! Made it when my kids were small but lost the recipe. Thank you !
We had that back in the late 70s. Mom had gotten it started and then had to go out of town for a few weeks. I was a teenager and didn't cook. Well, when it was time to do something with it, I pulled out the recipe for the the coffee cake (it was called Herman) and made it. I guess it was beginner's luck because it was delicious. I still have that recipe.
I remember Herman! I was going through my late mother's recipe collection and she had saved the local newspaper food section featuring recipes using the Herman starter.
I remember the Herman starter, but never have tried it.
I remember Amish going around in the late 80's too, and mine was given me in a plastic bag. I don't remember how long I had it but the bread was soooo good.😀
One of your best videos! Thank you and keep us updated on the final results,
I’ve done this before in the 80’s, forgot all about it, thanks Josie! 💗
Ok I missed this video apparently two weeks ago so I was confused on starter watching the second video today(two weeks later). Excited to do this! Thx Josie. God bless you and your beautiful growing family.
I made this with my grandma when I was a teenager. 💜
What a blessing!I thought I had the recipe...but it's gone!thanks.
Your mixing bowl is so pretty, and also your measuring bowls.
I remember receiving friendship starter bread when I was first married. It made the best bread ever! Thank you for sharing the recipe - I can't wait to make it again. :)
Have a very good Easter.
Wow. That seems pretty simple. Am curious how to use the starter after day 10. 🤔 Thank you Josie for being the lovely woman you are! Blessings 😘
I'll show you when we get there on day 10
Thank you Josie. At one time I had this recipe but had lost it. Can’t wait to see your recipes on using this. God bless.
A neighbor gave me some starter and a loaf years ago. We passed it back n forth for a couple months until we got tired of it. It is delicious and moist. I usually make a quick bread and add sour cream and get results that are close.
Thank you so much for sharing this❤️
Thank you Josie.Something different to try.Have a great evening.
Hello Julie
How are you doing today?
Can't wait to try this.
I have been wanting to try this you must have been reading my mind. LOL
Hello Kathleen
How are you doing today?
Thank you Josie! Happy Easter.
Happy Easter to you!
Josie, you have the most beautiful bowls!
I still make this today and put my 3 extra starters in the freezer so I can bake the bread anytime. I use all flavors of pudding, not just the vanilla.
Yes...different pudding & or fruit/nuts...I also freeze my starter. Love to do this around Thanksgiving & Christmas.
Can't wait to try this. I'm excited to see the end result
i just made a couple of loaves today. yummy
Sweet memories of my Mama and her friendship bread. Thank you, Josie.

Thanks so much for sharing this starter recipe. I used to make it when the children were growing up. If I didn't have anyone to share my starters with, I'd either bake extra loaves or freeze in individual quart size bags. Once you take it out, you treat it like day 1 and feed as your recipe states.
PLEASE, share Amish Friendship bread recipe soon. 😋 🥰
Beautiful bowl!! And here’s an early Happy Easter Wish to you and your sweet family!

Need bread recipe
I've made this bread exactly the way you do yours (it's super delicious, I added bananas and walnuts to mine) but I was gifted a starter bag and never started my own. My question is on day 10 after I make my bread can I separate the other 4 cups (the 4 i would normally share) and make bread out of that the same day by following the same instructions?
Do you think the gluten free flour would work? I remember loving this bread as a kid! Thank you for sharing!
I have no experience with using it, but looked it up and others have used gluten free flour with success. Hope it helps
Have you posted your recipes? I’m waiting…
should be up today.
@@CedarCreekHomestead Brilliant!! TY!! Smiles…😻
Can you only use half the sugar?
Though I haven’t done so, it is said that you can half or even leave the sugar out all together.
Do you have to use animal milk? Can you use soy or almond or? Plant based milks?
I was curious about this as well. Just found out my daughter has a dairy allergy and would prefer to use oat milk.
You can you soy or almond or any nut milks.
You can use oat milk for sure.
Great, thanks
Hummm. Maybe . 🍑
